I'm only at 2.9k DPS in act III of NM. I'm kinda worried that I won't get much of a boost before Hell. Most people going into Hell seem to have 4k+ DPS.

Nightmare. The game becomes new again in Hell.
I'm just starting Nightmare as a lvl 31 Wizard who didn't use the AH. Should I just power through nightmare with overpowered AH gear to get to Hell? My inclination is to explore every nook and cranny of each map and collect every piece of crap gear along the way. But it seems like a waste of time in Nightmare.

Act I Inferno down. The last boss
The Butcher, that S.O.B
took us forever. Was 3 of us to begin with, 3 Demon Hunters. The third one bailed, and me and the other spent the next hour straight wiping retrying respeccing before getting him down....

A whole damn hour. Our problem was that we didn't have enough HP to
survive his Multi Wide Arc Chain attack. Not the one where he pulls you in, but the one that deals like 35k.
That skill clearly has some sort of cooldown, but he only uses it seemingly when he has someone in range, and theres no per-warning, its incredibly fast. Took us an hour to manage to get him down.

I have heard gruesome things about ActII Inferno, so I didnt even bother getting into it much. Ive got some work to get done, but damn it felt good killing him.

Have people generally been having problems with the auction house? For me, I'm repeatedly getting bid failed errors, timeouts, and moving things from the completed section to my stash takes several minutes on average. The weirdest thing that's happened to me, though, is being unable to buy gems at all for long periods, and then finally getting a buyout to go through, then watching the game take my money and put the gem under the "bids" section of the auctions tab. As far as I know, it's impossible to bid on gems, only buy them, so that's pretty irritating.

Yeah the AH is really screwed up so far, I bought out a few items today and it took over an hour for them to show up.

On a side note I just beat it on Normal for the first time

Blizz must be laughing at the moment...

I'm having the same exact issues, even the thing with gems.

Got to Hell earlier today and got completely destroyed. Most of my gear was probably from late Normal early Nightmare drops. My drops during Nightmare sucked. Spent some money at the auction house and now it plays a lot more fun. Also, there's a world of difference between playing a DH alone and with 3 other players...

Seeing as a lot of the Torchlight devs were there for D2's clusterfuck launch (unlike the D3 devs) I doubt they're laughing much.

At least at the botched D2 launch you could play single player and lan. I didn't get tuned into battle.net until a bit after release, but I remember there being a lot of maintenance that made me sad that first year. Thankfully Blizzard learned their lesson though!

Ok, so the amount I'm playing this game with my cheapo logitech mouse is causing me wrist some discomfort. Recommendations for a decently priced option that will be more comfortable, or maybe even something for my wrist? Haven't played a PC game this much since D2 when I was like 15, and maybe a day or 2 with Civ 5 at one point.

There's definitely some rebalancing that needs to be done with WD, and judging from the reactions, the other classes as well.

Have you guys found a good use for Spirit Barrage? I haven't really messed with it yet but just based on the tooltips, I dunno why you'd use it when the other mana-heavy spells are (or at least seem) much better, and you've also got spells like Firebombs and Poison Dart that already do solid damage for free.

Even if you're gonna use the Rush of Essence passive, which doesn't seem particularly great, you're better off using Haunt + Resentful Spirit in that case. Other direct damage spells you've got seem to render Spirit Barrage obsolete for the most part. Maybe the Manitou rune for Spirit Barrage at lvl 59 can be solid since there doesn't seem to be a cooldown attached to it.

Dunno about Zombie Charger either. It seems somewhat redundant with Dire Bats and Acid Cloud and more dangerous to pull off at higher difficulties due to its range. Haven't unlocked Zombie Bears though; that seems pretty popular.

I've been going one-handed and you can toss them at an incredible clip. Roll the Bones is also good and is probably more effective in generally taking out groups since there's no damage reduction with it, but the benefit to Flash Fire is that its extra fireballs home in on enemies, so you can stay back out of the fray and more effectively target enemies that aren't immediately in front of you.

I also like using Flash Fire if the treasure goblin gains some distance and Spirit Walk isn't available; I'll just throw tons of Firebombs in his vicinity, hit him with the splash plus extra Firebombs that home in on him.

Have you messed with spiders with leaping rune? I think it's 19% damage per spider and they leap to any targets within 25 yards, after that target is dead, they can leap a further 25 yards. They last 4 seconds attack 3 times and 4 come out at a time. There's no initial hit of damage that relies on you hitting your target, so you can toss them at the edge of your screen and have them leaping a further 25 yards to a target, then possibly another 25 yards at the next target once the first is dead. One cast nets you 220% single target damage over 4 seconds but may be spread across multiple targets. With a fast dagger and IAS I can keep 6-7 sets of spiders out at a time dealing 450%-525% of your DPS for basically no mana. You feel like a Zerg overload for sure and they definitely melt life bars.

I kinda wish with elective mode that you could put the same ability with different runes on different hot keys. Would love to toss a queen spider into the mix.

Anyone have any idea how much this thing is worth? In my time, I've never seen a necklace that could even compare to this.

Would be worth quite a bit. However with the AH the way it is it's highly unlikely it will sell for much, esp since it isn't level 60. If it had attack speed instead on there, or dex instead of str... oh buddy!

The problem is that its sort of a DPS amulet for a barbarian, but many barbs are finding themselves forced to go into tanking builds to survive later on. Still probably worth 6 figures minimum, but the best way to find out is to search the AH for similar amulets. Search for rare amulets with a minimum of 100 vitality and strength and try to find ones with similar +damage to compare.

Yup, I had three or four gem buyouts timeout, show up as failed and some refunded cash show up in my completed list and then about an hour later when I checked it turned out I'd actually bought the last couple I tried to get so beware, you might end up with a lot of gems you weren't expecting in an hour or so!

It doesn't wipe your characters, and any new character you make starts with the dyes and wings in their inventory. So make a new character then throw the items in your stash to give them to your DH.
Cheers! That did the trick.

Nightmare clear! Hell next.

The game just keeps getting better and better. Didn't had that much difficulties on nightmare. Aside from few odd mob packs. Even Act IV wasn't that hard as I imagined it to be. Well, hell seems to turn the knob little bit closer to the eleven so I'm pretty excited about it!

I think I'm going to roll a wizard. Barb doesn't sound viable in higher levels....which is balls. You should be able to solo the game with every class if it was built right. Ah well.

I hear Inferno act 2 and beyond is really bad, but I think it will be resolved eventually. Either the players are undergeared and lack the proper equipment to be there, or Blizzard messed up and it's too hard, in which case they may change the game to make it playable.

Why do Followers have Magic and Gold Find? Does it stack on yours or just what they kill?

I think it stacks with you. Goldfind/magic find is suppose to be an average of all the players in the current game (or something). So I assume your companion counts as one. Man that sounds like a cheap ass way to farm items.

Much smoother experience here, though I've had failed bids on gems as well. That was early on though and they went through eventually.

I should have refreshed the thread before posting, too...

It's not that it's hard, it's the drops that make no sense. They say we're suppose to farm Act 1 to be better for 2. It's been nothing but items that I'll sell or put up onto the AH. I guess eventually, I'll be farming the AH.

From Waxing Orgasmic to Rage Episodes: The Yoshichan story.

Ha.

With Yoshichan...the very same thing happened in the Dark Souls thread. The kid is mad as a hatter.

What is happening??

Im frustrated over the fact that random magic items in inferno are vastly superior to legendaries (uniques).

Set items and legendaries are trash, ive seen blue 1 handers with 300+ more dps than the best 1 handed legendary.

Haven't messed too much with the Spiders after Normal. I need to check it out more. I did like the leaping Spiders in my time with them though.

Another fun trick with Flashfire is to stand completely behind cover and throw the bombs in front a door or opening. The bombs will bounce once and then home in and demolish groups that you never even see.

I also like how Flash Fire bounces between barrels and similar objects. Tossing a single one will automatically bounce between all of them. It's neat to see and efficient as well.

Global Warning, people

There are reportedly several account hacks happening due to session ID's being stolen when joining public games.
People with attached authenticators are losing their stuff, can even lead to total account hack.

Recommend not joining public games for the time being =/

fucking dick cheese they should fire someone if they can easily do this

Wasn't the point of inferno to be this super challenging mode that would take a while for people to beat? Why does everyone expect that it is imbalanced because everyone can't walk through it a week following release?

(Actually curious, not being condescending.)

what happens when I'm playing D3 and someone is trying to do this? will it kick me from the game?

So, joining a friend game wipes your current progress?
Well, sorta. It resets your progress in your current quest. When you go back to the chapter select, you can select the most recent quest you were on, you just have to start it over I think.

I had to play on Europe for 6 months because US West/East were completely unplayable. There were all the same sorts of errors, just happening more often. The one I particularly remember is games failing to create and hanging there for 5 minutes, remember that door opening animation as you launched a game? The doors would remain hilariously closed in your face, some sort of very apt symbol :P

It was still bad on Europe, just not as bad.

You gain 1/5th of any MF/GF you put on a follower (you can see the stat changes in your details, put 10% on a follower and your own MF increases by 2%) as to what applies if the follower kills or you kill? I dunno.

Oh shit. Thanks. Forgot about that menu!

You saved me a few hours ;P

Started playing with Demon Hunter. Right now I'm at level 38. It has been pretty easy so far. Died once in Diablo, but then changed my skills and cleared easily. Here is my current build, any comments?

Vault + Tumble + Preparation = fun. If I'm not feeling like exploring the whole area or I just want to get somewhere fast, it is awesome.

Btw. How does two 1-handed crossbows compare to Bow and quiver? I read somewhere that dual-wielding would give a 15% attack speed boost.
