At only 23% Crit but Hell just became kind of a joke all of a sudden. Not sure what changed but I'll take it lol.

Damage checks really. Hell is a bit similar to Normal/Nightmare, once you get to a certain DPS, it's a little easier. Elites are still evil though, you'll need resists for that.

Man, being at work sucks. Why am I not home playing more Diablo!?

Got my Wizard to 60 and got my ass kicked by ACT 4 BOSS in hell over and over again. I guess I can check out what ACT 3 BOSS will drop now with 5 stacks of Nephalem Valor.

I lied when I said I'd take a break btw.

My mains are a male wizard and a male demon hunter. The male wizard's VA is badass. Male demon hunter is Aragorn and therefor awesome.

Traditionally you couldn't choose. I don't know what bearing that has on your question exactly, though.

I've never played a Diablo game before, so I just wondering. Between this thread, and the Giantbomb TNT, everyone seems to have gone female. I guess it's more because of the goofy feminine looking male models though.

Just got this bad boy.

gaf I am a struggling level 51 demon hunter. I'm on hell, act I, and getting my ass KICKED. If the enemy is any type of elite, it's a guaranteed NUMEROUS graveyard walk. I asked earlier and I was told I needed smoke screen... so I replaced vault for it. I'm still dying, one of my biggest issues is I keep forgetting to use smoke screen... I used the other abilities for so long (especially vault) that they're bound to my muscle memory while smoke screen is not :/

this is what I'm rocking so far...

please make suggestions!

caltrops with torturous ground (stun/2 sec) smoke screen ie:vanish (lingering fog: increases duration to 5) rain of vengeance (beastly bombs: summons 20 shadow beasts to drop bombs on enemies dealing 125% dmg) hungering arrow (devouring arrow: pierce adds 70% dmg each time it passes through a mob) and rapid fire (web shot: decreases enemy movement speed by 80%)

Try Elemental Arrow w/ Ball Lightning. The ball passes through enemies as well as linking the lightning to other enemies so 3/4 Ball Lightnings straight up eat through mobs if you use it while smoke-screening.

The 5.1 sound mix is truly terrible. Weapon sounds are WAY too loud, every other effect isnt loud enoug. So while I can't hear the footsteps for example my neigbhours surely can hear my bash attack. That's so annyoing. Was it even tested!?

Ok, so the amount I'm playing this game with my cheapo logitech mouse is causing me wrist some discomfort. Recommendations for a decently priced option that will be more comfortable, or maybe even something for my wrist? Haven't played a PC game this much since D2 when I was like 15, and maybe a day or 2 with Civ 5 at one point.

I have the solution but you won't like it -- play less. Or take 5 minute breaks every 30 minutes of playing. (don't let that stack to 2 hours and taking a 20 minute break). No mouse you use is going to cause less discomfort to your wrist unless you start mousing differently. But honestly, that's unlikely to change, everyone holds a mouse a different way and unlearning that is as tough as unlearning any learned behavior.

You better fix that before your neighbors call the cops and report possible domestic violence coming from your house.

What's this about not playing a Male Wizard? He has my favourite VA out of all of the voices I've happened to hear so far (from partying with other people)!

I'm level 46 in Act III Nightmare, and I seemed to have "stabilized" as far as difficulty goes. At the beginning of Act II I was getting my ass kick quite a bit, but switched up my skills a bit and things are progressing much better. Hell is going to be a kick in the teeth, though.

There's definitely some rebalancing that needs to be done with WD, and judging from the reactions, the other classes as well.

Have you guys found a good use for Spirit Barrage? I haven't really messed with it yet but just based on the tooltips, I dunno why you'd use it when the other mana-heavy spells are (or at least seem) much better, and you've also got spells like Firebombs and Poison Dart that already do solid damage for free.

What Spirit Barrage doesn't tell you in the tooltip is that it ignores terrain, including solid walls.

Friend told me there was an Nvidia driver update that helped with some issues he had. For any of those that still have any, might wanna give it a shot.

Adjust the sound settings.

Nice tip, never had that idea. ;)

Obviously this is the first thing I did but it doesn't help. Everything, from footsteps to wind sounds to weapon sounds is "sound effects". It's flawed in itself. Same problem with headphones though not as noticable. But even then weapon sounds are way overdone. It's like someone cranked them up to 150% internally. It's just bad sound design imo.

Very few games I have run across are designed with great sound. Not defending Blizzard but at the same time other companies also have screwy issues when it comes to overall sound design.

That could be though it has never been as in your face as in this game. Really, you have to bring down sound effects to 40 to 50 to make it tolerable and you loose all ambient sound details in that progress. It's so bad that it could almost be a bug.

Yeah I take pretty regular breaks, just figured something that held my wrist a bit differently would be better. Fair enough then. Thanks!

where should my Damage be with a 36 monk? I'm using two one-handers socketed with flawless rubies right now and I'm sitting around 600. It feels OK but I feel like i could do more.

what was the reason for making the game five people max in multiplayer anyway? miss those 8 people parties from D2.

It's four max. I think there would simply be too much going on if there were more than that. The problem with those big games was that they were always zergfests, something Blizzard clearly wants to avoid with this entry.

If they wanted to put a skill element to the game they should redesign some elite mob skills.

*Avoids frozen iceballs only to be hit by jail then a mortar then die*

Yea, I had to bring down effects volume to 50ish or the sound of shock pulse boom-booming all over the place destroys everything lol.

I really like the overall sound of battle once you have it a little rebalanced, though. It's an audiovisual beast.

Ashodin, Melee Demon Hunter
Level 40, NIGHTMARE MODE Act 2, near the beginning

Whew, haven't done this in a while.

Yeah it's been about six levels since my last post, but I've been busy with work, and I just got done playing a long time with some friends, making leveling and drops a lot of fun.

As you can see by my DPS, which has skyrocketed from the beginning of Act 1, (At Level 36 I was 700, so I more than doubled my DPS) and enemies just literally pop around me now. Nightmare mode is becoming easier than I thought it would be.

And my build is still holding, I change things up here and there. Took Perfectionist, Night Stalker, and my discipline is always bangin' for Shadow Power. I move a lot slower though, which I'm not too terribly fond of (want to get into melee fast, so Vault still does its job). Enjoying the hell out of Tinkered out Grenades maintaining the Hatred, might try Grenadier at Level 45.

They pretty much took the "Avoid the fire" mentallity from WoW and went fucking nuts with it.

That shits not fun blizzard, it's never been fun, wasn't fun in molten core isn't fun now. Especially with pings of 300. It's just a damn boring mechanic.

Actually, I mean that even those I'm just straight up tanking now. Not sure what changed, really. Maybe just growing accustomed to proper spamming Mantra for BoP.
