Diablo III |OT2| Queues Rise. Servers Fall.

It's the the backbone at the end that directs the traffic to their servers, IE; the ISP they pay for, no? It's a problem they had with early WoW, but back then they actively bitched about their bum deal with whatever ISP they had then and overloading due to unexpected growth until they were able to resolve it. (I did have like ... ~150ish ping on average back in vanilla now with modern WoW its 30-40)

Now they're just blaming users and their individual connections, well surprise, every single person I talk to actively on my list is having nightly issues. Luckily the game masks the lag in a pleasing enough way most of the time but lately I'm rubber banding more and more and it's really aggravating.

Really? Fuck. I'm so sick of the 200-300ms latency. Every single time I've played the game and they're not acknowledging the wide spread issue?

Unless they changed it, I had to call into Blizzard Customer Service and get the standard key transferred to a friend's account when I upgraded to the CE. Not sure if that's how they're still doing it though.

Ah ok cool. I submitted a support ticket. I'll create an alt account and call them tomorrow. Thanks!

Exists in a perpetual state of Quantum Crotch Uncertainty.

What sort are you looking for? Inferno-level gear or earlier?

Getting decent Inferno kit is a bit of a race. If you want something good at non-insane prices you've not got much recourse other than constant refreshing. I'm trying to upgrade my armor at the moment and just set it to filter by +Intelligence, +Vitality, and +All Resistances then set the maximum price I'm willing to pay and start spamming the Search button. I keep my eye on the column for the time left and anytime I see one that shows 2 days remaining I take a quick gander and hit the Buyout button if it looks even remotely decent. I only actually get the item about half the time, tops. I just missed a completely crazy piece of chest armor with more than a hundred points of Intelligence and Vitality, 250 or so bonus armor, fifty to all resistances, and three sockets that had a buyout of 50k about an hour ago. That stung a bit.

Top-tier Witch Doctor armor is made of tentacles, by the way. I had a bit of a shock when I bought a helmet and equipped it only to discover that it was bright pink and writhing.

Nightmare level, just curious to see if I can find anything super amazing, but I think my current stuff is pretty solid

I really dont think it's their datacenter having the problem. For starters, as mentioned, i consistently get 120-180ms. Secondly, a friend of mine that does get bad latency in houston tx (i am not in houston) says that his tracert shows a 140ms hop in northwest houston, followed by a few 40ms hops later on. Total: about 300.

One or more of those 40ms hops is blizzard, but not the 140, and that is the one that matters. I expect it is the same for others, but it's just easier to blame blizzard.

It's not unexpected for an isp to suffer severe latency when they get a massive spike of traffic all going to the same place. Itll probably be fine in a week.

If you have actual evidence that the latency is blizzard's fault, aside from just "the problem is widespread" then id be interested in seeing it

I just finally beat the game. Level 30, Witch Doctor. Woot. I need better equipment. Ffffffff. What's the best place to level up?

To level up you can start the game on nightmare. For gear, I'd suggest the auction house. Seriously. What is your dps? At the end of normal I only had 150 or so. I bought a new rare sword for 15000 or so and tripled my dps.

It's good to keep in mind, I think, that any equipment you're shopping for before level 60 is going to be extremely transient. All I did through Nightmare and Hell was filter by +Vitality and +Intelligence and set a maximum buyout price of 10,000. If you want to run a Grave Injustice build you'll also want +Gold Radius, but if you're not looking at using one of those there's not really anything else you need.

Keeping the price low makes it easy to flip the gear when it outlives its usefulness. Most of my equipment up until now has just been stuff that I bought for 5-10k, used for a few levels, then stuck right back on the auction house for about the same amount that I paid for it. Stuff with bonuses to a primary stat and Vitality tend to sell at a brisk pace provided you price them sanely, and in the end most your gear will either end up turning a minor profit or only costing you the 15% selling fee when you turn around and re-sell it.

Things get a lot more complicated at 60 when you're Inferno shopping, but until then it's most effective to keep it simple, buy for cheap, and flip the kit when you inevitably outgrow it.

Lol.

Welcome to Australia!

I'm having a blast with D3 (just into nightmare now with my barb, and in Act III with my WD). The US guys are in bed by the time I log on, so there are no queues and no errors to logging in. There is the occasional lag spike, or network hiccup resulting in some rubber banding, but it doesn't affect anything outside of aesthetics of the game. I've had nothing to do with the AH outside of selling some stuff on there so nothing to report on that front either.

Aside from the complete arbitrariness of white and grey items (why do they even exist at this stage? I'm amazed there isn't a mechanic in the game to level them up or something, use them as a base ingredient in a recipe perhaps), nothing much has bothered me. Certainly nothing that a quick bout in Tribes hasn't overcome anyway.

Bravo Blizzard. It'll be very interesting to see what, if any, changes are brought upon us in the next few weeks.

How come nobody here seems to be the slightest bit offended by the fact that they recently took down the servers for 6 hours on a game that should have had a single player offline option, and could have had if Blizz wanted it?

I've never heard of this complaint before. Do tell more.

Slowly making my way through Hell now, Act II, lvl 56 Barbarian. Cant wait to hit 60, get slaughtered in Inferno, then do it all again with another class.

I got this quiver last night. Can anyone tell me what I should try to get out of it on the AH? I think its pretty good.

Spent 25k on some armor earlier and got an error. It's happened before but I usually always get money back right away. Hopefully I either get the armor or my money back by the time I get home from work.

Not sure. I'll look when NI get home.

Really good to know. Thanks.

Auction house should have the following:

- ability to repair items from the auction house if they are in your stash
- ability to access it during the game, not having to leave your character
- ability to cancel an auction - just charge a 15% fee if you want to prevent spamming, because as it stands, you can just have a friend find the exact item and pay them to buy it

I dont understand the idea that uniques should be better than rares? Its always been magical / rares > uniques in the diablo series...

Because rarity implies that if you're lucky enough to get it, it was worth the wait.

It's the mentality of, "I don't need to grab those whites, because the blues are better for me now." or "Blues were so last 10 levels, yellow is the new blue." Then it becomes, "Fucking Orange, get this garbage out of here. it pops up once in a blue moon, but is just useless."

LoD had better uniques than rares, and runewords were often better than either.

But at least D2 original had interesting uniques and sets that you would actually see dropped and had interesting uses with different builds.

I had the best Elite mob encounter today. It was a group of blue Corrupted Angels set to Frozen and Vampiric. Since the mission I was on forced me to bring along Tyreal w/his unlimited hitpoints and propensity for tanking, they were completely unkillable. I'd be able to get one or two down to 90% and then they'd be full health again after doing some swoop attack on Tyreal. Hilarious stuff.

That was only the case when even GOOD magic/rare items were super fucking hard to come by. Try finding some perfect trap claws. I'll see you in a year or so. The average blues and yellows were garbage in D2.

Magic and rare items in this game are bountiful, and might as well have near perfect stats.

Really? It was my experience that the best items, outside of the occasional rune word, were rares. I never saw a mad rush for uniques, though I did only play during 1.10 to 1.12

Huh? Rares that were worth more than uniques were very uncommon in D2. The occasional circlet, amulet, and gloves could be sought after, but mostly, uniques and runewords were what you were going for.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
Aside from AH troubles I just finished Nightmare difficulty entirely as a lvl 51 Wizard.

Whoever said NM Diablo fight was easy I call BS.

I thought he was really easy. Hell, on the other hand, isn't a walk in the park.

Okay, so Cluster Arrow is fucking insane. Potential 1250% damage off of it (pretty much garunteed when against a boss). I'm able to spam them quite constantly too. It's very finicky to use, and you gotta be fairly close.. but it decimates.

You had a few uniques that were crucial in builds. Also some set items as well.

HoZ for Hammer pally's; Tal's Set (3 piece at least); Goreriders; Dracul's Grasp; The Occulus; actually there were a bunch. Uniques in D2 were way more important than in D3 (as of now).

Tal's Set hasn't been terribly useful for a while. Enigma or Chains of Honor were what you'd use 99% of the time, unless you want to go for a really rare Ormus or something.

Anyways, I found my first legendary tonight...inside some nameless chest in Act 3. Ridiculous. This stuff should be dropping off bosses.

Mr. Community
The latency shit is finally getting on my nerves, they're so clearly overloaded and are simply sitting on the problem. Since we're not pumping fees into the game maybe they don't feel like they have to, since I always had fantastic pings even when WoW was packed, but I'm sick of 300-400+ when I should be 40-50.

I think I'm more annoyed that they tried to pull an old school Verant move and blame the end user for it though. For a company that usually has pretty goddamn great customer service Blizzard is really unraveling here.

I'm fed up as well... 200-300ms is unacceptable. Crappy move to lay the blame on users.

Must have been a while since I played, but you bringing up those uniques does jog some memory. Theres no uniques in D3 along those lines? Or not very many?

I prefer'd the 3 piece Ammy + Armor + Belt for my MF builds. That is the only reason. Can't remember why, but I know I did a lot of number crunching for it. Plus it was fairly cheaper to go that route for my mf sorc. I let my PvP lite sorc get the more expensive stuff.

Okay, enough about D2. I'll go for days.

I'm not sure I just reached nightmare. But all the impressions point towards itemization is geared towards +staying alive stats in the end game. There is not near as much variety in itemization as D2. I mean there were so many factors in what you put on in that game. All dependent on what you wanted to do of course. You had to break frames to get faster casts/attacks and what not. Cannot be frozen. Max your resists. You also had charms and shit. It will take D3 a while to become what D2 was in gearing your character. Right now it just feels really random and you don't know what to look for if you need stats. You just auction house some random ass named item based on stats. For me, I always liked knowing what I needed by the name and just searching for a game that had what I wanted. The trading was awesome.

Tal's mask at one point was highly sought after.

So I haven't been able to play in about a week. Have many of the server issues been ironed out? Still going through a lot of down time?

Yeah, my barb had 150. I had crap-all for drops. Ended up going on the AH for gear.

Actually, I'll have to go back to like page 100 or so on this thread. I think I put details somewhere about 10,000 posts back. I may have bought the new sword for act IV.

Hmm, I thought my DPS was low lol

Can I check my DPS without logging into the game? Is it on Blizz's site somewhere
