why arent the wakeup srk podcasts available as mp3s anymore? keits even takes down the stream archives! WTF

I dug around the SRK forums about it, Keits claims he's just too swamped with setting up UFGT8 to be doing any post-recording work. Which sucks for me because I relied on the MP3s. Not updating the feed I can live without, but I can't watch the archives at work!

Deleting the archives though, I have no idea about. Extra weird since their new site design prominently promotes the podcast on the front page.

Since it's not really being talked about in the other thread, how do you guys feel about the line up for the SF 25th anniversary tournament series? Here are some of my thoughts

-I actually didn't think it would be only SF games, I actually though Marvel 3 would be part of the line up just because I figured they couldn't ignore it
-SFxT having the biggest prize doesn't surprise me. You'll probably get the car in addition to about the same amount of money if not more compared to the other games I think
-I'm starting to believe EVO will not see a dime from Capcom as they'll put all this money into there own tournament series instead
-I'm somewhat surprised by the line up, but at the same time I guess I shouldn't be. I really thought ST or one of the Alpha games might be included, but I guess that was wishful thinking
-And lastly I'm really looking forward to and I'm really curious about how they're going to divide the cash between the 4. Will SF4 and SFxT get more money because they're the latest and more popular games or will all 4 see a equal split?

The way they handle all that stuff seems very wack to me. No achives. No MP3's, no itunes. It seems to me they should make it easy as possible to listen/watch their media, not make it a hassle. especially when it is on the forefront of their new page design.

Keits should get some help on that front!

This is what I was saying months ago. Fucking capcpcom.

It's gonna be funny when no one shows up for their SFxT tournaments. That game is dead after Evo.

Eh, at least some people will go as long as there's money to win. It'll be completely dead once this tournament series is over though.

yep, Viscant and Brightside (chicago player with a good spiderman) in my pool.

oh well, i'm pretty much the worst marvel player at chicago locals anyway and haven't even been there in a while. The sooner I lose, the sooner I get to freely run around Keits' fighting game carnival.
Where do you play? I live in Chicago and have been thinking about going to something. I didn't know Brightside was here, too.

Also, first time hearing about Divekick - sounds fantastic.

LI Joe who said he was dropping fighting games after EVO for SC2 has now said he is dropping UMvC3 for AE and SFXT after EVO.
Li Joe plays Marvel?

I saw that as well, it's kind of funny since Joe has made it pretty clear he hates SF4 lol. Fubarduck also had this to say lol

Marvel should be fine though, everybody who plays it now will still be playing it. The only difference we'll see is that a lot of top player who play all 3(or 2 of the 3) but put more emphasis on Marvel will probably come back to AE and SFxT more for this tournament series like FChamp for example.

Why would UMVC3 be RIP in July? Just because of the Capcom big money tourny?

I think people still would play. Even it it went down some, it would pick back up after the series is over?

That was just as joke in reference to how short of a lifespan that Vanilla MVC3 had. Nobody believe it'll die or even have a steep decline. Top players will just shift there focus(while still playing Marvel) and that's it.

From Niitsuma being in San Fran recently, and this quote from fubar, I wonder if there will be one more update for UMvC3?

Allegedly the thing holding back characters like Venom from making the roster was the Spiderman movie game which is coming out soon, so I'm guessing if there is an update it comes out in August.

Fubar is talking about UMVC3 not being included in the 500k capcom tournaments.

I don't think UMvC3 is going to die anytime soon, personally. While people are clearly annoyed with certain aspects of it (Waaaaassskkerrr, soul fist + doom missile, etc), it still gets good turnout at tournaments and I haven't seen anything close to the pure hatred that I've seen for SFxT.

The amount of hate SFxT gets seriously amazes me sometimes. Toryuken was pretty much non-stop SFxT-shitting 24/7. I can't remember the last time the FGC universally decided a game was garbage like that.

If people weren't playing SFxT, I don't think this prize pot is big enough for them to pick it up seriously. The likelihood that this SF anniversary tournament kills UMvC3 is near zero. Marvel mains will still have that game as their priority, and there will probably be more salty money matches/runbacks throughout the year.

The only thing that could kill Marvel is a newer version of Marvel.

MYK sends his thank you to everyone that donated:

http://www.levelupyourgame.com/2012/05/22/a-very-special-thank-you-from-myk-to-you/#more-3094

Hello everyone,

my name is Michael Y.Kwon also known as “MYK” within the fighting game community. Recently I had a need to go to the emergency room at a local hospital, since the health center at my university was not able to diagnose the problem. The school’s doctor recommended me to go to the Emergency Room at the nearest hospital. This whole hospital/health center deal has been a stressful month long process and I wanted to say that I couldn’t thank you guys enough for everything you have done.

I was in immense pain, as I wasn’t even able to walk without the pain being multiplied. I didn’t know what to expect, since it first started off with a breakout of hives. Which after getting treated at the health center I noticed there was a blotch of red spots on my leg that started to swell up. I didn’t think much of it at first, until the pain came with it. So the second time I went back to the doctor and he sent me off to the Emergency Room at which he was “assuring” that I would be able to apply for a “MSI” program to get financial assistance. After my hour and a half stay at the hospital the physician there said that I had gotten “cellulitis” some kind of a skin infection. I was then prescribed 3 medications cephalexin, bactrim, and a pain-killer. Took the medication for the prescribed time, and after being off of it for one day my skin started breaking out with red spots all over looked like the spots people get when they have “keratosis pilaris.” Went back to the school’s health center to get benedryl to treat the allergic reaction, then when that was gone the swelling had come back. So it’s been a long time coming with all these different antibiotics, been on doxycycline since and it has been working so far.

After having to deal with all the stress from what was going on with my body, I started receiving the medical bills from the hospital. Which came out to be a bit more than expected clocking in at $4000+. With my part-time job, and my financial situation at home myself and my family was put in a real wake-up call situation. Had no idea what to do, as we wouldn’t have been able to pay it off by any means. I was beyond stressed out, with no ideas on what to do or how I would be able to pay for this I felt like driving off a cliff. So I had contacted my friend Rip to see if there was anything we could do as I had no where left to go. Thanks to Rip and thanks to the great help of the community we had set up a donation drive and had reached the goal in even under 24 hours. Having put my family through all that stress and with the medical bills coming one day at a day for 4 days straight it wasn’t easy on them.

I was more than relieved and couldn’t be happier to be a part of the fighting game community at how quickly they heard me out and how quickly they have helped reach that goal. I was even amazed that other websites and people and companies donated to help the cause as well, truly amazing. I wanted to give a very special thank you to everyone that has donated, it was very much appreciated and it helped out so much. Special thanks/shout outs to the people that also donated games/sticks. Thanks to NamcoBandai’s very own and my Tekken Mentor, FilthieRich. Thanks to Madcatz’s Markman for donating the sticks. Thanks to EightArc’s 725 for also donating sticks. Thanks to MattD from Capcom. Thanks to SRK, IPW, and everyone that has tweeted about it. Also special shout out to Rip for hearing me out and helping me set this up for me.

Thank you everyone, you guys have helped me and my family out so much and I hope that this infection/swelling won’t come back again this time.

-Michael Y.Kwon
