I think you need a lot of res, and try that Inferno again. :P

The fat zombies in beginning of act I hit me for ~10k health per hit, and those supposed to be among the easiest enemies out there. Sure elite mobs just evaporate me but when I can barely survival melee attacks from the trash mobs I'm really not looking for RES gear.

I'm really not that worried about Inferno until after at least the first balancing patch, honestly. It clearly needs work and the game has things that need to be changed. When that initial dust settles, then we'll see. Same for the "necessity" of the RMAH. I just don't see that being the case yet.

By the time you get to Inferno, your Armor is high enough that point for point, resistances will be your best for damage mitigation. Do note that there's a Physical Resistance as well.

It is indeed!

Of course I get that Thorns stuff as bonus stat. Pah!

What in the hell is up with the set bonuses. Who would that be useful to and how is it fair that different elements require more set pieces? Wouldn't that be biased/easier to obtain for certain classes using that element?

Or does that damage just stack on top of everyone's damage as elemental damage?

But 10 years from now when I am still playing this game. I can be telling all the newbs how I was there day 1 and what all has changed. It is like being 80 years old and talking to grandkids.

It will be great, just like telling new WoW players about how hard BRD was when it was introduced or the craziness of AQ40.

Actually you are, considering that res means physical res as well and it stacks with armor.

I wish, I wish, I wish I could play through the next hardest mode with a different character. The end game was fun, really liked the castle level a lot.

Now to play through as a lowly level 1 demon hunter.

To be fair, they trusted itemization to drawing names from a hat. The fact it got +3% Damage at all is surprising!

Seriously though, that's an awful bonus. Even if every piece in the set got it rather than just a total bonus (e.g., 4 pieces is +12% Fire, Lightning, Cold). And it's "to X" rather than "as X" so it's just a damage boost to existing damage. Woohoo.

It reeks of 'placeholder' stats. Its flat out unfinished. Disgraceful. And not just the sets, the legendaries suffer from this too, they are painfully underwhelming.

This. Folks need to try it. All resists really do work very well. You would be absolutely amazed how much it helps you soak damage.

A little worried about this, though. Does that mean the set piece Won found is going to end up being a useless piece of shit forever?

Yeah, I knew they were bad, but I didn't know they were this bad, haha. That is completely worthless right there. Hopefully shit gets better fast...

The sad part is, it's actually a decent piece of Armor at it's core. IAS%, All Resist, +Armor, and MF% makes it a decent starting point for an MF% set but it's just got nothing going for it besides "Neat, green text."

Pretty much. ~5000 Armor with ~200 Resists is approximately 70% Damage Mitigation total at 60, I believe. Maybe more. It's a pretty good baseline point to reach and, honestly, not that hard to get to in Hell equipment.

I've said I am not mad about Inferno mode. This will remain true. But when it comes to the legendary and set items, that shit is horrendous. The stats make no sense.

I want brown to mean something. I want to see a brown gilded drop and cream in my drawers. Thats all I want. Seriously. Oh, and then show friends and brag. (that's you guys)

Edit: And I am not talking about the cream in my drawers. I'm talking about the brown gilded shield. Dat HoZ.

Agree, I don't want it to be the end all be all sole items in existence or anything but I want them to really mean something, also I want class centric itemization to improve. It's way too meek to be any fun currently.

The base stats will never change I guess, but the set bouns should change if they ever patch it, since they are not random.

I hate to be a pest but I can't seem to find a solid WD build for nightmare.

I've been combing through pages and there are some Hell/Inferno, but I don't have access to some of those skills yet.

I will say, I switched over to Leap Spiders from the Fire Bombs and I'm surprised at how well they work. one of the side-benefits is the spiders surround monsters and sort of block them in, which in turn protects me.

Anyway, fellow WD, what build did you use?

:)

Yeah, I guess my complaint (like everyone else) is that the bonuses from the set aspect are worthless. I'd still wear the armor for the mods you pointed out. But having 2+ pieces of Tal Rasha's doesn't provide me with anything worth weighing my other bonuses against. :(

Did they fix the public game exploit?

According to Blizz it doesn't exist. I for sure as hell will not be playing in public games until they come out and say exactly what has been happening. They can't admit to something this big going on only a week after release. Most likely it's going to be quietly patched and then forgotten about while they try and deal with people who have been hacked.

Grats on your Thorns.

On that note, the fact that Topaz in Weapons give Thorns may be the cruelest joke ever :( Until someone finds a way to work that into ridiculousness, I guess. Defensive gear just reflecting 5k damage a hi...that's actually not terrible. Shit, what have I done.

If it had 2 Sockets and then the Random Attribute, it wouldn't be bad vs random Rare chests honestly. Just needs non-shitty Set bonuses to warrant using multiple pieces.

Try getting a socketed weapon, even blue with a base dmg a bit lower than the one you have now, and see the difference putting in it a red gem. No less than +100dps (being conservative).

Problem is that bow has insane stats compared to everything else I find. It's DPS is in the high 50s or low 60s and gives me 60+ dex and vitality, 13% increase attack speed, bonus fire damage and a couple other things. With other weapons I've tried I get at least 150 less damage. I'll check the AH if it's up when I get home from work.

I guess the benefit of not having a ton of time to play is that by the time I get to higher levels, which current sound pretty broken, they'll have patched the game a bit.

Am I the only one that remembers never using Unique or Set items in D2 because they were never as good as my current gear?

There was the occasional one. Tarnhelm's MF%/+1 Skills, Treads -Stamina and good Movement Speed for the level, Sigon's low reqs. Iceblink had a period of hilarity with WW Barbs. Think there was a lot of Mana Regen or Cast Speed stuff that wasn't terrible either at release.

The standouts were due to either low reqs on the bonuses they gave or having +Skills that random equipment couldn't replicate at the time. In post-LoD, they had actual really good Uniques eventually that served as either high end equipment or baselines for what a "good rare" actually is.

I really don't understand why such a large (and vocal) group of people are moaning that they can't clear Inferno yet. Do they really want to achieve a perfect set of items within the first WEEK of the game being out?

Diablo II is still being played ten years on but only just recently got extra challenge beyond Hell in the form of UberDiablo and co. Blizzard gave people something to work at *eventually* beating in the game right from the start and suddenly they're 'terrible at balancing the game' because it can't be cleared so easily?

Come on, give it a while! Farm items, for a LONG time, before moaning so much...

Am I the only one that remembers never using Unique or Set items in D2 because they were never as good as my current gear?

No you are right. Problem is they fixed this with LOD and lots of patches to finally make the game the way it SHOULD be. Meaning, most Legendary items are good to great and some GODLY that can rarely be beat with the exception of the most rare of the rare drops. And here they go 10 years of development later and release the most anticipated PC game ever with the same broken game design they stated with in D2.

It sucks, it's broken, and it needs to be fixed.

So you don't believe them when they specifically stated the whole public game exploit is bullshit, but you will believe them if they say something funky is going on? Sounds like you're just going to believe what you want to believe. For me, it's fishy if they don't say anything about it at all. Since they specifically said it wasn't true, that's good enough for me.

CAN SOME ONE PLEASE KILL ME NOW....

SOMEONE BOUGHT IT as I refreshed and took 1 second to read the stats

OMFG...

KILL ME NOW.

Your mistake for reading the stats, duh. I've blindly purchased so many Rings/Amulets that met my criteria :|

That's why I want like ... 5 categories to search for. Then I can just blindly buy everything as long as it meets my Level 60 Has 1 Socket 80 DEX 80 VIT 15% IAS 4% Crit Chance requirements!

Stat perfection stunned my ass.

I couldn't believe it before my brain overloaded.

The higher levels aren't broken, just extremely difficult partly because itemization is a bit broken.

I guess that is the complaint I've read the most.

What are the issues with the itemization?

Blue dropped items are better than rare and set items?
The randomization of stat bonuses means that virtual every drop is useless?

It's difficult to keep up with the thread and I'm not as familiar with the genre to recognize the flaws or understand the impact.

Awesome. I can't sell or buy on the AH because "Only 0 items are allowed in your stash at one time. Please send items to your shared stash and try again."

Blizzard needs to get their shit together.

I put good stuff up for cheap, myself. Now that Im deep into the game and having been scarred by earlier auctions rotting probably far too cheap.

Oh well.

The AH is a cruel mistress. Perfect stat balance? No OCD triggering fluff? Great price? Don't even bother trying to click it, just take the shitter, more expensive one over on the side that has ketchup stains on it and get out.

You pretty much nailed it on the head.

The randomization of stat bonuses makes it extremely difficult to find something worth while sometimes. Say, a Yellow Monk Fist Weapon with +70 Int.

The AH addresses this to some extent, but I personally am not using the AH yet because I love the thrill of the RNG.

Added to that lower level items dropping at the end of Hell difficulty.
