Saw someone post about finding a WD set item last night but never saw what it actually was. Would like to see what it is/if it is still for sale?

400 resist? Crap... I thought I was doing good with my 200 at 50% reduction...

I didn't even feel comfortable in Act I farming until I had around 300-320 or so. Act 2 is really a 500 to even 600 resist sort of territory and you'll still get hurt hard by the great enemy of all mankind, fire chains+movement inhibitors.

@mercviper - Act 2 is just real hard. :/ . I have been working on getting more armor and using the dodge mantra+armor rune and it's helped, but I still have to evade some champion packs due to raw DPS. I think that 500+ resists, 9.5k-10k armor buffed, and 11k-12 DPS alongside 33-37k health are what is needed to make Act 2 more comfortable. I also think getting a shield with a good block % and block value really does make a large difference provided that your base armor values are sufficiently large. Example-

Mob hits for 20k white damage, 55% mitigation from armor pushes through 11k damage.
Mob hits for 20k white damage, 65% mitigation from armor pushes through 7k damage.
Mob hits for 20k white damage, 70% mitigation from armor pushes through 6k damage.
Mob hits for 20k white damage, 75% mitigation from armor and 25% block chance for average 2800 damage = average damage pushed through = 4.3k damage.

Items with life on hit and high dodge avoidance also ensure that you're not always taking that kind of damage or are healing for a bit in between this damage. You also have a healing cooldown and should have two on-use defensive cooldowns in Act 2 when you are just getting started with it (blind in addition to serenity). This also doesn't account for passives like Resolve, which can drop these numbers even further. As the mobs hit harder the mitigation becomes even more important.

Without a shield you'll never have the armor values needed to push mitigation up to levels where incoming damage is manageable on Act 2 unless you have extremely strong gearing elsewhere.

edit: I am 110% convinced that any challenge this game presents can be beaten through enough farming and elite items to get the math to work right. The only issue is if the items are prohibitively expensive or sufficiently rare that they are not available. Currently I think this is the case for the melee classes but that's not a long-term imbalance, today's best gear is tomorrow's hand-me-downs as the RNG continues to produce more and more copies of top-shelf loot for general consumption on the AH.

did anyone watch the credits 100% through???

shit's like 20 minutes (exaggerated?) they thank the original blizz north team who worked on the first diablo 3... i was hoping to get an achievement for sitting through it and appreciating everyones hard work.

so what does everyone think the D4 story will be?

a prequel or a completely new story, or "similar" story but a different perspective, or a continuation from this story?

because it's possible "He who shall not be named" isnt in the next game, since blizz said this finishes up the intended trilogy.

I'm guessing story in the next game will be more generic drivel with angels and demons fighting each other. It will probably look bad for a while, with demons raging everywhere, until you defeat some major enemy, then things will kind of be OK, but not totally, because you can never really defeat evil... There will probably be some transparent plot twists where you are "betrayed" by obviously suspect characters.

I'm pretty sure I would have found the writing interesting early in middle school, buy I have since graduated to "big-boy" books.

There must always be a Diablo.

Um, what? Why is updating the jeweler useless? Don't you kind of have to in order to combine gems?

You can spend 5k on the auction house for the best gem that drops in game.... or spend 200k+ crafting it. Your choice.

been playing this for a while now, but still suffering error 3007, are others here hitting the same wall?

so far I have been practically steamrolling through on normal with my DH. It has been fun and I've been getting good loot, but damn, it seems that nearly every time I have nearly explored an entire map I get dropped, only to have to run it all again. This boosts my gold, xp, and gives me a chance to get better items, but it sucks. I feel like it unbalances my playthrough, as my character simply has more that it should.

I've tried all the fixes (direct modem connection, update router, open ports on my firewall, blah blah) to no avail. Fuck Blizzard for this. Build in a "buffer" so a network hiccup or whatever doesn't end the experience, or at least throw in a couple more checkpoints until you get it all ironed out. Fun game, but frustrating as hell :P

I had this problem the first couple of days, and it was literally disconnecting me every 15-20 minutes. After searching the forums for a solution, I found a post where a Blizzard employee said they are fully aware of the situation, and that it is a result of the way a small number of modems/routers behave. Or more accurately, it is caused by the way Blizzard's online system incorrectly interacts with said routers (since other games do not have this problem). They didn't really provide more in-depth details than that, but there is likely no amount of port forwarding or firewall settings on your end that will correct this error. They are working on a fix on their end, but they say it will take a while to implement.

In the meantime, there is a workaround. By simply joining the general chat channel every time you start the game, and remaining in the channel the whole time you play, you should never see the 3007 error again. I don't know how this works, but I can attest that it does. Since I have started doing this, I have only been disconnected once due to the 3007 error, and it was the one time I forgot to connect to general chat.

This workaround is not without its drawbacks however, as the maturity level of people in General chat is fairly low, and the channel is utterly infested with bots spamming gold selling advertisements. You can report and block the spammers, but it doesn't matter. No matter how many you block, more continue to pop up.

As for your issue with being overleveled and losing the challenge, I would recommend you stay away from the Auction House your first playthrough. Once you get into the AH, you learn that you can find pretty much all of the gear you need for barely any cost. Even without spending any time farming gold, you can gear yourself up enough to be able to destroy even bosses in mere seconds. Luckily for me, I had long since given up on the idea that normal mode would provide any challenge, so I'm currently pushing myself to see just how overpowered I can make myself.

Really wish we'd get tossed a bone about where PVP stands. I understand nerfing classes out of Inferno is a priority - but hearing about the reason I started playing this franchise would be really nifty.

Radiant square is the best that drops in game (like candy too). After that all gems have to be crafted.. yet no one is crafting them because the costs are huge and the stat increase is minimal.

So anything radiant square or lower on the auction house is dirt cheap.

I'm still on normal and have had more time to talk about the game at work than I have had to actually play the game. Curious, whats the highest attack speed or movement speed mod anyone has found? I'm all about speed with my monk, baby.

Yeah I just let the whole thing run got up and did some stuff and was surprised it was still going when I got back to my computer, was hoping for a bonus level or something.

For attack speed 19% was the highest I've seen. It was on a legendary though.. and was being sold for many millions.

15% is the highest you'll get normally.

Also attack speed is only on:

Weapons
Rings
Amulets
Gloves
Offhands (quivers... maybe something else)

See thats the thing; diablo 2 had an item or two that had 60 percent increased attack speed. Where are those items in d3?

What a great loot game...

And it seems like it could be easily improved if they decreased crafting costs and probably some other stuff to make items more expensive on the AH.

Am I the only suffering from being stuck and unable to move? My ping is green and I'm like glitching out and the only way I can move is if I tele back to town and return.

Level 58 first LEGENDARY DROPPED!

String of Ears

I had that skipped heartbeat that I got all so often in diablo 2. Hopefully blizzard fixes a few of the legendaries/sets so we can have this feeling more often.

That's happened to me before. I had to use Vault to get out of the glitch.
