He needs to be Deadpool and that's that. It's like he was born to play the roll. Just make the fucking thing already, the script is basically perfect. Just swap the Amy Winehouse joke out for Lindsay Lohan or something and it's done. It's so good, he's perfect for it, he wants to be Deadpool, the writers want him to be Deadpool, he's already been cast as Wade in another X-Men movie, just fucking shoot the thing and get it over with.

he's not leading action man material, he can't carry a movie. The only good thing he has been in is scarlett johansson

Life sized Hulk Statue.

I'm assuming that's based on the Incredible Hulk model.

The model of Ang Lee's Hulk at Madame Tussauds is one of my favorite things ever.

Have you read the script? Because I've read the script and he would nail it. If you've read it I don't know why you're saying he wouldn't work in it because it was written for him. Like, literally, written for him to play Deadpool. They've even made jokes in the comics for years about Ryan Reynolds being Deadpool. He's been the lead in plenty of movies, and for whatever reason you didn't like them but that's your opinion. Mine is that they've been great and he's been funny. Lots of people agree. He played Wade Wilson perfectly in Wolverine: Origins. Just because Green Lantern sucked doesn't mean he can't be a good action lead.

unfortunately lots of people don't agree. The guy is box office poison and hasn't been in one successful movie. Don't mention buried, it didn't do well. People don't want to see him in movies.

I wasn't going to mention Buried (I haven't seen it). I was going to mention Just Friends, Amityville Horror, Waiting..., The Change-Up, and Van Wilder. Movies where he plays a smart-assed fast-talking charismatic fucks or, in Amityville's case, something serious, dark, and fucked up. Kinda like Deadpool is. Oh yes, and again Wolverine: Origins, where he actually plays Wade Wilson AKA Deadpool. Flawlessly.

Also, Deadpool isn't going to light up the box office. I think everyone involved knows that. It's an R-rated super twisted violent super hero comedy based off a rather obscure (until recently, but that's just in the comics) character. But that has nothing to do with Reynolds playing the character. He WILL be Deadpool if the movie ever gets made. That isn't really up for argument.

if he does play deadpool, you know you will never see a sequel right?

I'm pretty sure it's not meant to be a franchise. It's a one-shot movie. There's no mention or set-up for a sequel in the script. It's just an awesome super-hero action comedy.

Deadpool the character isn't an A-lister. He's a fan favorite but he doesn't get his own series of movies or cartoons. He gets to show up in other people's movies as a fun cameo and maybe, hopefully, will get his own single movie. That's all we want. The guy who was born to play Deadpool to play Deadpool, and to play him correctly, not that stupid bullshit at the end of Wolverine (which they appropriately make fun of in the Deadpool movie).

Also that article you linked actually supports my claim, it says his best roll was in Blade: Trinity and that he can either do romantic comedies or action movies. The only thing your article argues, and I even agree with, is that Reynolds is not an A-lister "Movie Star" akin to George Clooney. Whatever, no duh, GC would also never ever play Deadpool. Just because he's not The Next Hot Thing or Big Actor Man doesn't mean he won't completely nail a part in a movie that was tailor-made specifically for him.

I don't really care about the deadpool movie, what I'm saying is hollywood tried to push him as a movie star, he isn't, his movies have failed and he needs to go away. He might nail the part of deadpool but people don't care, his movies fail, people don't want to see him.

Fans of Deadpool do, which you aren't, so the point is moot.

Edit: Hahaha I caught that before you edited Bob. I can respect you not wanting to get caught up in more bullshit though.

Edot 2: Whoops looks like you weren't fast enough!

Do you actually believe people purposefully try to avoid movies Ryan Reynolds stars in?

Hahaha God yes!! thats why his movies fail, he is a polarising actor, I don't doubt that people like him and his movies but when his name comes up in conversations there are always a few people that can't stand him.

I've actually never met someone who didn't like Ryan Reynolds until this conversation. Women think he's sexy, dudes think he's funny and comic nerds just want him to be Deadpool.

(I mean, enough. He's been Blade's friend. He's been Green Lantern. He's even been Wade Wilson! Just fucking give us the carrot and get it over with, stop teasing us FFS)

I've met people who haven't liked movies he's been in, sure, (mostly Green Lantern) but not people who share anywhere close to your opinion on him needing to disappear.

Well god, certainly turned me the hell around on that one. I didn't even know he was being considered for the highlander reboot.

Also he's just like me!

I kind of liked Green Lantern it took me 3 tries before I could sit and watch the whole thing, but it was not that bad. I actually like it more than a couple of the X-men movies(not First Class).

So I see this will surely pass all movies expect Titanic and Avatar, good job Avengers!
Robert Downey Jr will be rolling in dough.

X-Men talk is making me depressed. Fuck Deadpool (script was great but I'm sick of the character), fuck more First Class, just do Days of Future Past and/or Age of Apocalypse already.

Actually, Age of Apocalypse could be great as a first class sequel.

Huh...just found out Mark Ruffolo is from my hometown, apparently he's one of my brother's friend's cousins (I totally buy it too, Ruffolo is a common name there)

Days of Future Past would be a great way to do an X4 that could also erase X3.
Holy shit, I like this idea so much I'm going to reread that plot arc immediately.

I forget, did they do it in the animated series?

edit:

Oh by the way, just got back from my 4th viewing. Couldn't believe the energy in the theater. Only 10-15 empty seats. This audience really liked Black Widow's "interrogation" of Loki, the $10 bet gag, and of course, Hulk Smash Loki remains the ultimate crowd pleaser. I am hereby resigned to simply not being able to hear "puny god" until the blu ray.

This theater also broke into applause at the credits roll, which hadn't happened since the midnight showing. Fun stuff :)

I caught a couple things I missed in all three previous showings; Stark has a little aside line to Coulson, like "we'll fly out to Portland for the weekend, keep love alive!" referencing the cellist. Showed he cared a little more than he let on in front of other people <3

Also noticed the Iron Man HUD has "loiter" vs. "intimidate" modes. When Stark goes "right... army" it rotates over from a blue interface to a red one with different readouts. Nice touch.

Consuming some carne Asada fries at La Vic's after my 5th viewing (here at Fanime lol).

3/4th full theater at a 8:15p showing.

Such a damn good time watching this. Was with friends that were watching their 3rd & 4th time respectively.

I would suggest making a sequel but this time with John Stewart as the main Green Lantern. Though I don't know how well it'd work out in certain respects. After establishing Parallax as the most powerful force in the universe in the first movie, it'll be downhill from here. Honestly, and I hate saying this, but a reboot would do this series good. Another chance to get the GL universe right.

GL should have been a cool space buddy cop movie about Hal and Sinestro to establish their friendship before the latter's heel turn in the sequel. This premise wouldn't have fixed the movie, but would have at least given a better starting point.

So I went to see it again (3rd time) and it was still awesome...AND STILL PACKED!

I went to the last matinée showing they had with 2 other friends (who somehow didn't see the movie before). Got there about 20 minutes before the movie trailers were supposed to start, and the only seats left were in the 1st row - scattered at that.

But still it was a great experience. And everyone finally shut up quickly enough so that I could hear Hulk's "Puny god" line.

So yeah, this movie still has a ton of gas left in the tank for the summer. Should be an interesting day when it passes TDK's domestic gross. Not for bragging rights of course. You can love both movies and appreciate both directors and franchises without becoming a fanboy, hater, or GoodJobBob (yeah, you've earned your own category).

I saw it today for the 2nd time. Interesting how much I remembered about the movie, so that kind of killed a lot of the lines for me. But still, I smiled.

I also appreciated the movie's set-up, but at the same time I was getting bored lol

However, the last battle still sent chills down my spine. I didn't realize the Cap + Iron Man team-up resulted in the beam splitting in multiple ways :0

And I know Hulk has been talked about here and some people mentioned that it worked because we got limited dosages. I do disagree on some parts because

1) This Hulk got swag.

2) Ruffalo plays a very charismatic Banner, showing the inner struggles but without the melodrama

3) Thus far, Hulk's greatest equal enemy is not just one nemesis, but a whole army. Let him take on and the same the fuck out of alien soldiers. Whereas before in other films we mostly see Hulk going berserk on buildings on tiny human military. The Hulk scenes worked so wonderfully in this movie because we had a gigantic vessel and army and Hulk still smashed them to pieces. Let him loose even more the next film!

4) Cap's suit is stupid...it's ok. Really could've used a slightly darker blue

I liked Ruffalo's Banner best because he wasn't so much at odds with Hulk anymore. The angst was gone. Hes sort of accepted Hulk is in there. He doesn't like it but hes not "Waaaa the evil green rage monster has stolen mah lyfe!"

I think he has to come to terms with it after trying to kill himself and having Hulk spit the bullet out.

Agreed on everything (man do I still hate Cap's suit, but it is what it is - please fix it for his solo movie).

But yeah, Hulk is by far my favorite comic character (bought this collection set the first day it was out) and they certainly did him the justice he deserves in this movie. It was fantastic breath of fresh air from the usual 2 hour melodrama of grown-up angst.

Ruffalo put himself up there with Bixby (going to need several more great performances to match and surpass him of course).
