Gearbox: Nintendo has listened to Wii U feedback, controller specs will “be awesome”

Third-party Wii U developers have made it clear that Nintendo has been fielding feedback on the console. Better than this, though, is that the Big N actually seemed to listen.

Gearbox Software art director Brian Cozzens told Nintendo Gamer that he feels “we’ll see some cool stuff that we’ve had some influence over.”

Cozzens also believes that “the final controller specs are going to be awesome.”

He said:

“We were early in seeing what was happening with the Wii U and we’ve been able to give some feedback. They’ve listened, and I think we’ll see some cool stuff that we’ve had some influence over. I think the final controller specs are going to be awesome.”

Does that mean higher resolution? Is such a thing even possible?

Or maybe higher battery life, removable battery, uh.. what else?

fuck yeah they're bringing back the chainsaw controller

Nope.

Game developers have always informed how Nintendo's control schemes are designed. Glad to see 3rd parties are being let into that process this time.

Controller specs? Really? Having tablet functions is awesome, but I'm tired of all the controller talk already. Give me what I want, Nintendo. Give me the hardware infos. :(

I don't care about multitouch, if it has it cool but I need native stylus support to take any touch screen device seriously.

I just want the Wii U controller's headphone jack to be down side instead of top,and support Dolby mobile/Headphone.

In before a random anonymous dev says something negative and this thread is buried and forgotten in favor of that one

put 2 tablets in front of a random person and have them use it exclusively with touch and ask them which they prefer
How is this post even remotely relevant to anything here?

Here we go with the multi touch. That's just what Gaf wants.

glad to hear the slide pads were replaced with sticks, the slide pads never made since to me, now I hope the actual "feel" of the controller has been improved

I will burst a blood vessel if they switch to capacitive without a fantastic digitizer. To hell with you all, I want impeccable stylus precision.

It's not needed for a video game controller though.

It doesn't need capacitive multitouch, IMO. It would stand out and benefit more from a WACOM-style interface where it can detect the stylus without touching the screen, is pressure sensitive, and has a button or two on the stylus. My laptop/ tablet pc from like 7 years ago had that and it was really cool for drawing applications and some games like World of Goo.
