[MS-Conf] Forza Horizon - E3 2012 trailer

Looks pretty great, if only because it reminds me that, hey, Burnout Paradise needed a sequel because it was awesome. I'm definitely keen to see if they pull this off.

Also: loldubstep

Yeah, this looks really good on the GT Stream right now! Nighttime mode looks really lame though; I want pitch black roads illuminated by headlights, not full moon might-as-well-be-daytime roads. :\

But looks fun.

I wasn't impressed by this at the conference but now that I'm seeing it's Forza: Burnout Paradise I'm much more interested.

Sucks that they've turned forza into every other racing game. Really a shame.

This is not Forza Motorsport 5.
It's not made by Turn 10.

I don't see what the big deal is.

It's like those people complaining in the Rising thread, because it's not like Metal Gear Solid.

Really? Outside of NFS Pro Street or TDU2 (both of which were TERRIBLE) I really don't see many games like this. I LOVE cars and I have wanted a well down open world racing game for a while now. TDU was pretty cool but TDU2 was just abysmal.

Maybe I am overly optimistic but this game actually looks awesome. I have always wanted to be able to take my modified cars just out for cruises and driving all over and this game looks to be the best version of that available.

it could be a complete mess, but I am hoping it is as good as it seems.

looking forward to seeing more of the game, that stage demo was pretty week. also, 3rd person cam sucks.

For those that don't religiously follow these things..

Forza Horizon is seperate to Forzamotorsport..

It's just trying to break into a new market, the open world more arcade 'lifestyle' kind of thing.

Since TDU1, we've been crying out for a decent open world racer that doesn't drive like Ass, this might be the first 'credible' attempt at it..

However, it still relies on having decent events and being entertaining, so I'll leave my hopes in check until we get nearer the launch date.

Why would you get points for damaging fences?
One of the events mentioned is having to drive 'entertainingly' for a 'video' or something like that, I imagine the amount of 'thrill' is the aim of that game, so it needs scoring somehow..

So, the cars driving around are gonna be AI only?

Forza Horizon is an action racing game that’s bursting with that authentic Forza feel; an open road racing game with a lively music festival backdrop. A world that just begs to be explored. Whether you want to cruise around with your friends with your car’s radio blasting tunes or you want to push your driving skills to the brink in one of the most brilliant driving locations ever created, there’s a place for you here. After all, this is Forza Horizon, and this is where cars belong.

That doesn't say much. I'm obviously not asking if it's a single player game only.

I'm asking if it's an always online ala TDU.

TDU just pulled/showed the 8 nearest player or something if I remember correctly.
Hm, would be neat if Horizon would do something similar.

Yeah, it's not quite an MMO, but gives the impression your in the same world with other people. It's pretty neat.

Kinda like Fable 3 does the same thing with the orbs, or even Demon Souls. That's how I thought the game would work, but Dan only mentioned "other AI drivers driving around" in the 3 minute demo.

What does this even mean?
I guess I got the same vibe when Ridge Racer Unbounded was announced...even though they're a popular sub-genre in racing games (dev's wouldn't be making games like this if they weren't), they're just not for me.

Anyways, it's not a Turn10-developed game...so I guess I'll just look forward to whatever's next in the Motorsport series.
=)

The demo stage was awful. At least we know that theres a demo build. Bring on gamespot!

It didn't help that Greenawalt was driving like an idiot. You would think he would want to show off the new handling, or the off-roading, or the sense of speed. Instead he kept randomly stopping and spinning for no reason.

That's OK, but where TDU was rubbish was if you had loads of you in a group chat and all wanted to meet up, it was buggy as hell, if you started a race, you'd be lucky to get half of you in that race, we gave up after 2 weeks of total frustration.

It's easy to see the hurt in this game. It's almost like I predicted. About 1% of current FM4 "fans" are crying, the rest of us love it. And those who don't own Forza? The response is (to me, surprisingly) positive. I think Playground/MS have a sleeper hit on their hands.
