Forza Horizon 5 | PlayStation 5 Review Thread

When I was in Amsterdam I heard people speaking Dutch and English to each other and completely switching between the two languages within sentences.

Somewhat Similar in parts of Canada especially Montreal with English and French

You people had years to talk about 3 & 4 being better than 5 but all of a sudden every Xbox game to PS5 thread is the place to complain about the games 😂.
Post traumatic war issues, some can't deal with the war ending and want to keep it going publisher vs publisher or whatever.

But FH3 being the best has been a constant talking point around every FH release. I think it's because of the map and sunny weather, Hot Wheels dlc was pure hype too. It was also the first one on PC so lots of new people stepped in there and the IP got unshackled from the lower framerates. It was definitely one of the high points in the serie.
I used to play it on a triple screen setup, 70-100fps at max visuals, it was fantastic. 👌

FH4 got some extra love from absolutely nailing 60fps on console and the seasons made it stand out, and the LEGO dlc was certainly special.

I love FH5 as well, have at least 50 hours on it. Can't relate to those claiming it's boring, it's an arcade racing sandbox, just blasting off track at any random location gets me smiling because of the absurdity and speed and pure chaos of crap flying all over the place. And the longer marathon races are fantastic. Regular Forza and GT are total borefests in comparison.

Been a fan of the IP for a long time, it sucks that they're delisting the games, they should just call it Forza Horizon and have the old ones as dlc seasons. I could rank them if I wanted but they've all been 9+ the whole time, best and most consistently good racing IP no doubt for me. Can't wait for the next one!

Not sure where else to post this, but the latest update on PS5 has some pretty glaring issues. For one, the cloud animation stutters every few frames now (just the clouds, nothing else... it's a bit jarring), and also the lighting changes abruptly now instead of transitioning to different times of day smoothly. I'll just be driving along and BANG, totally different lighting like someone pressed a switch.

Anyone else seeing this at all? I tried both graphics modes, HDR on and off, and I can't seem to make it stop happening. The game was PERFECT before the update. I had no performance issues or any other glitches AT ALL. It was glorious. I can't believe it's busted now. :-(
Nothing wrong on my end. (PS5Pro)

It's hilarious. When this was announced and some of my PS5 buddies were saying meh Turismo is better I tried telling them how this is a different genre and it's widely accepted as the best Forza game and the best exclusive on Xbox. The narrative sure has changed since though 😂

They are all great. But FH1 and FH3 are generally known as the best or most popular among fans of the series since the beginning. 5 is a lot like 3, too. Kind of the same biomes with Mexico as in Australia. Just a lot more sprawling and built out than 3. FH3 especially is absolute dynamite, one of a kind experience.

But they are all great, and 3-5 is where the game became really huge.

1 and 3 are easily the best by a long way.

2 was sort of just testing the waters to get ready for how amazing 3 would become.

4 and 5 have been far too dumbed down and I blame Game Pass for that, the total loss of a proper progression system has been a complete shitshow.

I really do think 6 needs a very substantial change, given the gap since 5 I hope it's the case.

I've been saying 1-3 were better than 4 and 5 for years but got dismissed by the same group who now agree with that sentiment all of a sudden.

Couldn't make this shit up.

To be fair, I bet a lot of people who consider(ed) 4 and 5 better than 1 and 3, never even played those 1 and 3 to begin.

3 has the best city Horizon ever produced. 4's Edinburgh is boring, 5's Guanajuato is absolute trash.

3 & 4 share the same issue : Map is extremely small. 4 had a giant lake on 1/5 of the map and 3 had giant desert with nothing.
You get from east to west in 3 minutes. Even Norschleife is bigger than these.

FH5 map is still very small compared even to The Crew Motorfest though.

All in all, i think map size is the main issue on Horizon series. It makes cruising quickly boring, and i say that while sinking 500h into all games.

The pacing of this game is so fucked. I just got to the hall of fame and finished maybe 25% of the content of the game. I have about 150 cars and constantly get bombarded with more. I bought a house for 700,000 credits and got some wheelspins 5 minutes later and made all taht money back.

I am surprised that they didn't tone this down but I guess they figured that this appeals to brainrotted zoomers who need a constant flow of dopamine reward hits. I liked 1 and 2 because it did feel like you were actually progressing in the game but from 3 on it's just total horse shit.

The best Forza Horizon game was part 3. Utterly stinks that it is delisted.
The keys are still redeemable. I thought I'd be ok not owning 4 and ended up really regretting not buying it on Steam during that final sale. Ended up grabbing an ultimate edition key and redeeming it on the gamepass app. Would prefer it on Steam, but at least I've got it. I bet those keys are going to triple in value as they dry up, so if you want one, I'd buy one now.

Horizon 5 doesn't seem to have much competition for my AAA Game of the Gen. I think it's better suited for a top 10 of the gen, but we're living through the worst Gen in history when it comes to AAA software.

yea I've never heard a person of Latin American descent talk like this, just throwing in random Spanish sentences and shit.

I hear(heard) it all the time.
Sometimes the right word to properly express it, is just better in [other language] than in English.
Or it just slips cuz you arent translating it in your head you are just saying what you mean.
One of my exes used to do it to me all the time, and i dont even speak Spanish.
Funny cuz when we started dating she never did but over time she'd randomly drop Spanish words or even whole sentences.

When I first moved to the US I would always say "no(informal)" in my native tongue and it never even clicked to me for the longest time, my friends just figured what I was saying was no based on the situation, body language and all, it was other not so close acquaintances who ever even brought it up.

Progression in the series has always been a little wonky as the games rarely incentivize you to switch cars.

I still like the original the best. FH3 is my second favorite and was my entry point into the series.

The game actually gets better when you get right up against the end game. By that time, you've figured out tuning. Have an idea of what you like to drive and can start chasing the best examples of it. Have a better grip on the surprisingly deep driving mechanics. Don't call it shallow arcade handling unless you've played The Crew Motorfest and Horizon back to back in the same session. Horizon sneaks a whole lot of simcade into the stew. The cars are extremely distinct and at least for my imagination, perform the way I dreamed they would. Not in the coldly realistic way of a full sim or even regular Forza, but the way you daydream they do. Without being stripped of distinction like they can be in other non-sim racers. Challengers are heavy and violent. FWD tuners like a Type-R are sweaty and twitchy. RX7 and 911 have the expected glide around bends. My personal favorite, the Ferrari Enzo. No upgrades, on a controller, manual with no assists; is maybe my favorite car handling model in video game history. Chef's fucking kiss.

The weekly's have been good for me lately. Finally got the CT5-V Blackwing after drooling over it since it came out. The CT4 brethren comes the week after next. God is good. Did anyone else have a HELL of a time with the Porsche A Class Championship this week? I could barely even hold my starting position. After giving up for a couple days I ended up having to tune up a 911 like a rally car with exaggerated short gearing and ludicrous downforce. Finally got it though. There's a ton of stuff I want to get with Backstage passes and still a ton of unicorns they could put out as weeklys. I've been playing since 3 and Horizon has never been better. Bringing Playstation into the fold is gonna make 6 legendary. Get ready boys. We're in the early dawn on a racing game golden age.

Yea it all went pot with FH3. You were already the "super star" as you started the game. FH1 used the classic progression system of zero to hero, because it fucking works. Modern FH games have a progression system for tweens with the attention spans of a tick
