It might seem rude, but I wish that in the future, they would restrain their presenters to either 1) Their own guys or 2) Third party execs who are native English speakers.

Prior to this conference the deep down Nintentard in me guaranteed I'd buy the system at launch. And even though such a thing is still possible, I suppose the most shocking thing for me about this conference is the reality slap that I probably won't be missing much if I wait it out. The software line-up is one unappealing game after the other. It's like they're making a console specifically not for me.

Pikmin 3 is a shoe-in, and I'll get Mario eventually, but that's about it. P-100 will probably be fun. And that's it.

As it stands, the Wii U is the kind of system I can look at and comfortably say "I'll wait until later", because until the inevitably great things come, there's almost nothing of value.

And I bought a 3DS at launch. In Australia.

This is me to a fucking T.

(save the Australia part)

That was the worst fucking conference i've seen in my life. I've been watching E3 for 12 years and nothing even comes close to the piece of shit that was this conference. That's it, I'm done. I'm selling all my Nintendo games and consoles tomorrow. You just lost a fan, and not just any fan, a big one.

Highly doubt that if you are willing to sell off all your Nintendo stuff because of a bad conference in which much stuff is still secret.
Sometimes I think people react too quickly to things instead of waiting for the whole picture.
Thats not saying this conference was good, because I will certainly admit it was hilariously abysmal.

Basically how I feel about it.

Can we talk about the Wii U's 3rd party situation? It's very worrying that their was a lack of 3rd party games being shown that isn't year old ports. It feels like the Vita all over again.

I'll say this: this was a terrible conference, but what they showed was pretty good. Confining themselves to the launch window was probably a huge mistake- 2006 E3 had MP3, SMG1, games that wouldn't be out until over a year later. Nothing like that was here, aside from maybe Pikmin 3.

Haha! E3 2012 redeemed!

I don't wanna sound like the comic book guy but this was the worst conference ever. Okay, that may be an exaggeration but as a Nintendo fanboy I was underwhelmed. The only thing interesting to me is the new Mario platformer but it still doesn't look a lot better than the Wii version. Mario games are about gameplay anyway but with a new hardware I expect something more than just gimmicks.

Maybe that guy who said "no activision support" was right. Nothing announced from them....and the "unprecedented partnership" with EA is nowhere to be seen.

do we need essentially 3 "New super Mario" games in 1 year? Where is the innovation? Where is Retro? Why not hit the ground running with a innovative new 3d mario game?

I understand holding your AAA internal games back for holiday year 2 in the cycle if your MS or Sony and have the 3rd party support carry the system until then

Pikmin looked fun s always but nothing else in the show looked remotely interesting to me. Year old ports with using the screen for inventory is not going to cut it. Nintendo needed the change the public opinion of the WiiU in order to ensure a successful launch and I really think they fel drastically short.

Those games are coming, 100 percent.

As far as successful launch...

Just Dance, WII fit U, Nintendo Land, Lego and Scribblenauts and NSMB will get sales off the ground and running, they all have huge sales potential, the launch will be successful in terms of sales, that's one thing they absolutely didn't screw up at all.

Nintendo has nintendo direct to speak with gamers like ourselves, this is aimed to the mass auidience. They have another conference devoted to portable games. First part games are coming. Calm Down. Console Launches are slow, but the lineup is shaping up nicely, nintendo is likely to announce more games suited to GAF's interest IE Project P-100. I'm going to be paying close attention to developers roundtable, I wouldn't be suprised to see a peak at Retro's or Monolith's new game.

It wasn't going to be easier to be worse than Sony, but somehow, Nintendo managed. Even MS had Southpark, I guess.

On a happy note. Glad new IPs are so well received.
The problem with all three conferences was the lack of surprises other than a few select titles. People like being blown away, and most games were already expected.

That said, in terms of what Nintendo showed, they had as much as Sony of Microsoft. Whether people were impressed or not is merely subjective. The games were there, but there weren't any "knock you out of your seat" type announcements or footage, and that's what people want.

Looking at the lists of games shown in each conference, all have compelling content. But at this point it just takes more than that to impress anybody.

Ubisoft's game, Watch_Dogs, came out of left field and it looks really great. It's also a new IP. People eat that up. There weren't enough game reveals of that caliber.

The Last of Us destroyed anything Microsoft offered on their conference, and it's exclusive, I don't understand these types of comments. You must have liked Fable: The Journey. The only good thing about Microsoft's conference was Halo 4.

is wii u backwards compatible with wii games? if so then i might bite seeing as how i never bought the wii. i've always wanted to play the wii zelda games.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

man everyone thinking this was the worst Nintendo conference needs to get their head screwed back on.

Did you forget 2008 E3?

Remember when it was only just ANIMAL CROSSING and WII MUSIC?

Nintendo showcased a ton of games here, chances are a lot of these will be launch titles and only 2-5 of them suck.

Admit it, if Zelda or smashbros had a trailer at the conference you'd all be sucking Nintendos dick right now.

Also pretty dumb people expected a price and release date at E3.
Did you forget Nintendo didn't do that with the Wii?
But they are supposed to convince us to buy the NEW console :(

Might just be me, but I've found "i'll wait until later" always works out to be the smart choice in gaming.

This conference has been hyped to hell for over 6 months, and this is what we get? Fucking shit. If we don't get Zelda 3ds or something new, at the 3DS presentation, I'm gonna go cry in the corner, clutching my Gamecube's handle ;((((.

There's still hope, right? They always have the developers round table after the conference. That's where the real news always gets made anyway.
Right guys?
. . . guys?

A late port of ME3 is not too bad I guess. If it runs at 1080p native resolution, 60frames per second, I will buy again with no hesitation. If not, forget it. Same with all the other ports they are looking to bring out.

It's just...

WHAT THE FUCK!

You go a year not saying anything leading to a conference where you didn't say much of anything?

It's like Seinfeld made real.

I think this is another thing bothering me.

For a year they kept their mouths shut with zero news, reveals, or details. We all assume they saved it all for E3 and yet we still have the same questions left over.

Yes new Pikmin and Mario will be amazing. ZombiU actually looked fun. ACIII should be awesome.

But a year with nothing and now this? I just don't get Nintendo. Where are their teams? They should have 5 solid first party launch titles ready.

That was a bad press conference, no way around that.

All in all though, Nintendo is really pulling out the stops considering those were just launch window games. There are quite a few really attractive games for launch with New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, Rayman, Lego City and possible games like Zombi U and Project P100. Scribblenauts looked nice in the GT presentation as well.

Edit: And releasing Nintendoland, Wii Fit U, and Just Dance 4 is pretty good for the casual crowd.

Yeah, the tight-lippedness of the whole thing is hilarious in retrospect, because it's almost like they had nothing to say anyway.

:( I still can't believe it.

At least they should have saved Pikmin 3 for the end.

How can you end on nintendoland lol, :(

I need that "mom I hate Nintendo" video lol.

That Jonathan Frakes star trek gif can be updated with footage from this conference.

I haven't bought a 3ds yet, but probably will eventually. After feeling kinda burned on my wii over the years, I really don't think I will buy the Wii U. I love Nintendo, but nothing is as great as your first nintendo console (NES) and every iteration is damaging that first experience I had. I think I'll buy my next Nintendo console whenever I have kids. By then Nintendo will be on the next console and I'll have a backlog of maybe 5 games from the Wii U.

Someone make a dramatic YTMND reading out of this.

So even if we assume Nintendo first party efforts are in the pipeline (duh), where is the supposedly obvious 3rd party support? I thought Black Ops 2 was basically confirmed? Where is the EA Sports stuff?

Better than Sony/MS by the smallest of margins, but still pretty shit. All 3 big conferences sucked the big one, Ubisoft wins E3 EASILY. What a shocker of an E3...

Instead of brown shooters, we got RTS, Mario platformer, handheld Mario platformer, dance game, party game, minigame collection.

The variety was lacking there too.

the casual games (party, dance) are one class for me and not really interesting. But all in all there were Action Game (Batman, Darksiders), Sandbox Game (Lego), RTS (Pikmin, Project P-100), Plattformer (Mario, Rayman), Puzzler (Scribblenauts), Shooter (Zombi U, Alien),Action RPG (Mass Effect) and an RPG (Paper Mario)

I sure forgot something.

So the conference imo showed a broader range of games than Microsoft imo (only talking about the conferences, not the overall Line Ups) and there for it wasn't too bad imo. Not good, but not half as bad as some people say

Aside from disappointed conference reactions, anyone else notice that the NintendoLand logo guy here:

Looks a lot like the Lord of Games in Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts?

It's what immediately came to mind for me after seeing the first picture
