Brainsss came out a little over a month ago and some stats were released on our sales:
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505124_...tag=cbsnewsSectionsArea;cbsnewsSectionsArea.1

The game hasn't sold very well even though we were featured by Apple. I'm curious to hear the thoughts of the community and opinions of other developers.

This isn't a post on Brainsss, I just wanted to spark a discussion on if iOS development is viable or not.

Awful icon.
Awful description.
Awful name, at least try to be creative.
No highlight on the screens.
Way to pricey for having nothing prior to it.
No marketing, either by word of mouth or paid.

Yeah, they COMPLETELY fixed the controls for Oh! Cube. I couldn't even play it initially on my iPhone, it was frustrating to do anything. Now it's amazing. I'm even impressed at the context accuracy of the taps I figure would set off the wrong input, I'm flying though and not one missed input yet!

You should check this out :)

I have three DreamWorks Dragons: TapDragonDrop codes to give away. Quote this post and throw in the app icon to win, first in, first served.
Want, but all sites that have app-related icons are blocked at work :(
Instead, I offer you this:

Edit: Thank-you, Google Cache!

Are they US-only codes?

I'd like to echo this. I could only stand to play a couple of puzzles in Oh! Cube because - even as a Picross 3D veteran - even the simplest puzzles would need a couple of tries to perfect because of the poor touch controls. Each block would take multiple taps, which, on an iPhone, exponentially increased your chances of hitting the wrong block accidentally while you jabbed wildly at the screen.

The new update seems to have really addressed that, and that alone has turned the game from a frustrating chore to a pleasant diversion.
I really, REALLY with the numbers would grey out once you account for the appropriate blocks in the row. You know, how it's done in Picross 3D. It makes it much easier to tell at a glance which rows still need work.

Yes, we should all email them that suggestion.

Do you have to clear all the puzzles on one difficulty before unlocking the next?

I think so. I completed easy before I could go to normal. The game feels way too easy so far. Hopefully the hard difficulty is more difficult... Otherwise, it's still a fun game to relax to.

That Swipe magazine app someone mentioned earlier is pretty awesome. Between that and the new Edge sampler I'm pretty happy that I have magazines to read again.

Quick questions for Oh! Edo Towns players...

I started to play this tonight and I am liking it alot more than I thought I would. However, there are still 2 things that are ambiguous to me. I don't know if someone can explain it for me.

1- When you research something. It tells you how much it costs. This is fine. But it does cost other kinds of points because sometimes I have the cash and I can't research the thing. (researchable item is in red in that case). So is there some kind of research points? Where can I see them and how the fuck am I supposed to know how much of those points it will cost me when I am about to research something?

2- Crafting items. I understand that this create 1 time useable items. However, I see no explanations on the effects... where can I see that info in-game?

Just grabbed Pocket Planes. Boy do I wish they would have went with Tiny Trains, though. I freaking love trains. Planes have no class.

When you select menu, it shows you the four different research points you currently have. On the research screen, tap the arrow at the top. There's an option to see how much things cost.

Items are terrible in that game. I never used them.

Ok wow, I didn't see that page before. Dumb me :)

Really hooked on monsters ate my condo at the moment. What a great game, fast paced and a visual explosion on screen when super combos are made. The game makes you feel like a champ when you hit massive combos and the score just shoots up. I can't believe I slept on this game for so long, but I'm really happy I decided to give it a try.

What kind of strategy do you guys use? I still need to work on my high score, hoping to get into the GAF top 20, that always seems to be a main goal for myself (of course I want first, but I don't have the patience to dedicate myself to get it)

I would recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a unique style match 3 game that seems to have more depth than it first let's on. It's a great pick up and play and I'm sure many of you guys will enjoy it, and judging from my game center friend list, a lot of GAF already have.
Really like a lot about this game. My only complaint is that at a certain point, the difficulty seemed to stop scaling up. But maybe I just didn't get far enough.

Are there games that support music being played in the background? I tried to play plague inc with pandora running and it was a no go

Most apps support a turn-off function in the menu if they don't do it automatically... running music coming from another app in the background that's NOT coming from your itunes music library though.. I don't think that works :/

EDIT: If anyone from PikPok reads this, tell Mario to read his PM's tmrw, k? thx ;)

Finished Descend RPG... that was disappointing.

Anyone play Dungeon Crawlers? Having trouble on Chapter 3-2... where everyone is separated.

Temple Run: Brave looks practically identical to the original game (even the art style/levels are near identical) - shame as they're charging for it too, I'd have thought the original IAP model would've been better

Suggest me a good Tower Defense game please!
I loved The Creeps! a lot. Possibly a recent one, thanks!

Defender Chronicles II: Heroes of Athelia
Radiant Defense
Jelly Defense
Spice Bandits
Towers N' Trolls
Kingdom Rush
Defenders of Ardania
geoDefense
Plants Vs Zombies
Sentinel 3
Tower Defense: Lost Earth

Still no Retina support for iPad :/

And it states it has GameCenter support-but there are no Leaderboards and no Achievements.

Stay away from this one people!

Hope we get Bug Princess 2 Black Label next week. I hate how Cave only gives a TBD date but I'm pretty sure they've submitted very soon after a launch trailer in the past.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to that. I was hoping for an entirely different game as their next iOS release but I'll take whatever they put out.

so i bought plague inc when you guys were making a big deal about it, finally got some time to play it and its pretty fun.
has anyone played the iOS version of football manager? is it a desktop version replacement?

Good lord-Pocket Planes is SOOOOOOO GOOOOOD.

It seems okay, but man, it takes forever to earn coins, and it requires a lot more micromanagement compared to Tiny Towers.

edit: Not really micromanagement, just having to setup new flights constantly for very little money. I guess I need longer routes. Also, it seems pretty barebones.

So I bought Kung Fu Rabbit but I really don't like it. Firstly the frame rate seems really inconsistent on iPad 2, it's stuttering all over the place. And the controls are a bit shitty too, with that slidepad silliness that never seems to work properly. I appreciate that I can move them where I like it, but it never seems precise enough, I've jumped to my death multiple times already because it's not doing what I want. And. Onside ring I've completed both Leage of Evils and a bunch of other iOS platformers, I'm more inclined to blame the implementation rather than my sausage fingers.

Oh well, it were only pennies I guess,I was looking forward to a new platformer though.

devs - don't try and be smart. Just copy the LoE controls and move on. They're perfect.

I would LOVE to have Akai Katana, Ketsui, mmp/ps, even DeathsmilesII. I'm super excited for this black label release though. It's all I've been playing on 360 lately (I'm somewhat new to shmups and still learning).
