Akane the Kunoichi ($0.99) appears to be another retro platformer with somewhat dubious looking controls.

Does have iCade support, however.

Anyone try it ?

Just "finished" Oh! Edo Towns.
Got the Edo town status in 10 years, found 18 combos.

The game was pretty easy. Easiest Kairosoft I played so far. I also liked it ALOT more than I thought I would. (because I didn't like Hot Springs or School Academy and this one looked like it was the same base game). I'm ready and excited for Venture Town now :)

I was a big fan of Edo Towns, but couldn't get into Venture Town. Of course I loved School Academy and liked Hot Springs so your tastes may differ.

It's worth noting that in Edo Towns, like most other Kairosoft games, there is probably still a ton more facilities to unlock, even after the initial score period is over. Your building levels carry over to new games (to a certain point) so it's really all about the New Game+.

If you also find it hard to get into Venture Towns, look into Epic Astro story and Dungeon Villiage as both are excellent and bring some much needed new mechanics to Kairosoft games.

Good lord-Pocket Planes is SOOOOOOO GOOOOOD.

Erased it about 10 minutes after downloading it. It's as cute as TT was, and it's a cool app to have if you're just wanting a virtual-garden-type experience. But it gets old fast as a game, and the notifications are what ultimately made me quickly erase it. I don't need that shit in my life. I got rid of all instant messengers years ago for a reason.

So turn them off? That's what the Notifications settings in the Settings app is for. If you don't want alerts or badges or anything you can turn it all off. I turn them off for most every game - including TT and PP.

Yeah I bought Epic Astro. It's in the backlog right now. ;)
I didn't buy Dungeon Village but as soon as its one sale I will.

Well, there's a general setting to turn off all app notifications, and when an app bypasses that I erase it on principle alone. I'm just crotchety like that.

So finally picked up tiny tower, and is it supposed to look like garbage on the ipad?

I can barely read the text its so pixelated. Is this normal?

Yes, it looks like garbage on the Ipad and plays like garbage.

I see why people may like it on the Iphone, but that charm is lost on the Ipad.

My gamecentre lists "never played" for what game my friends last played. It says that for all my friends now. Instead of listing their last played game it just says "never played." Don't know what happened. Anyone ever experience that before?

Shouldn't it be free to promote the movie?

Doesn't have to be but it's kinda crossing the line when Temple Run is free. But to be fair, Temple Run launched as a paid game first then went free to play. And this isn't the first time a movie has been tied with an established iOS IP as a paid app/game(Angry Birds Rio, Fruit Ninja Puss in Boots...)

Is Mass Effect Infiltrator worth the space/time ? Plan to play on an iPad 2.

Edit:
Damn those games are too cheap - already bought :-/

Hope we get Bug Princess 2 Black Label next week. I hate how Cave only gives a TBD date but I'm pretty sure they've submitted very soon after a launch trailer in the past.

I'm not sure to be excited about Black Label. I mean their last release was Bug Princess 2 and then their next release is an enhanced version of the same game.

You're effectively buying the same game twice.

Black Label should be a free update to all owners of the regular Bug Princess 2. I would much rather have seen a different game for Cave's next release.

Temple Run: Brave

I downloaded this yesterday and any fan of Temple Run will simply love it. All the repetitive fun of endless run but with some actually (Very) nice graphics to go with it.

Improvements in this area alone make the 69p/99c price worthwhile.

There's also a new archery mechanic to earn extra coins at various points which adds to the challenge.

The big downside right now is that it's locked in French - not that you need massive language skills to work out Play, Menu etc but it's still annoying and not something you should find on a high production Disney/Pixar game. I'd assume a fix for this should be out pretty soon though as changing the langauge back shouldn't be a major issue.

I was browsing through new releases and ran across a game called 10,000 Chests. No, it's not a collection of screensavers featuring breasts, but rather one of those simple luck-based games that can be addicting. If ou liked games like Power of Coin, you might like this one. It's free.

To be fair, their Black Label stuff essentially means remixes, not necessarily enhancements. Different enemy waves, bullet patterns, scoring system, etc. Opinions tend to vary heavily on vanilla / 1.5 vs. Black Label versions, especially with Mushihimesama Futari's Black Label. There's a fair amount of difference, if you really dig into their games.

I'd really prefer Ketsui or even something new again, of course, but I'm okay with whatever they release.

I bought Infinity Blade last night and couldn't stop playing until like 3 AM. The last hours of grinding wasn't even that fun but it's so damn addictive. What's wrong with me.

So I bought Kung Fu Rabbit but I really don't like it. Firstly the frame rate seems really inconsistent on iPad 2, it's stuttering all over the place. And the controls are a bit shitty too, with that slidepad silliness that never seems to work properly. I appreciate that I can move them where I like it, but it never seems precise enough, I've jumped to my death multiple times already because it's not doing what I want. And. Onside ring I've completed both Leage of Evils and a bunch of other iOS platformers, I'm more inclined to blame the implementation rather than my sausage fingers.

Oh well, it were only pennies I guess,I was looking forward to a new platformer though.

devs - don't try and be smart. Just copy the LoE controls and move on. They're perfect.

Ah, shame you didn't like it. Though you can change the controls to be regular dpad instead of a slidepad. Just unmark the "smartpad" on the options menu.

I'll give you the stuttering bit, it can be bothersome, but I really don't see anything wrong with the controls. Though when I tried the "smartpad" option I hated.

Yeah, the Creeps is probably still my favorite tower defense as well.

Great gameplay, graphics, music, sound, enemies. And some levels are very well designed. Plus you get a whole lot of levels for your money. Creeps is great.

Sentinel 3 man, it's all about Sentinel 3. Even Kingdom Rush hasn't broken my obsession with Sentinel. I don't even know why I love it, it's as generic as TD games come!

I'll give it another go then. I thought the smartpad option just stopped the pad being dynamically moved to where you put your thumb.

It does look gorgeous however, I'll give it that much at least!

Also, about Kingdom Rush. I didn't know it, just saw a YT video, and I think it looks fucking great. So I searched for the iPhone version on iTunes, and there's isn't even one!

Good news though, according to the official website, they are already testing the iPhone version, so it's coming soon. Nice!

like they need to promote a Pixar movie... ;)

As far as TD games go: I really enjoyed Guns N' Glory. It's got a lot of content for the price.

My fav on the platform is still GeoDefense. Wish the dev would release a sequel or more level packs. TinyHeroes (his latest game) just didn't do it for me.

Futari Black Label was a $15 upgrade for owners of the Xbox 360 version. Why do you think it should be free here?

It's different enough that it really is almost its own game, though I do question it being a separate release from the original game since it does reuse a fair bit of assets. An IAP would have worked better for those with limited storage space on their devices IMO.

+1

Love all my Cave shooters, but yeah, I ain't paying again. Maybe if it was IAP for a buck or two at most.

I'll wait for something new. Been hoping to see a port of Pork & Pink Sweets.

I was the same when they released DDP HD. Still stick by my decision to not buy it.

I know it probably doesn't mean much to you guys, but take a look at some of the other Cave threads to appear on the board - they're in serious financial trouble right now and can't really afford to give away content for free, especially content that they previously charged $15 as an add-on for on the 360. Even if I were completely uninterested in playing it I'd probably buy anything they released just to support them.

Why aren't they putting their games up in XBLA or Games on Demand the way they did Death Smiles 2? Is it that costly to do so?

On the subject of "swipe" coming to iPhone/iPod, on the e3 episode of the pocket gamer podcast (Who I think are either responsible for swipe or a major contributor) they mention that it IS, indeed coming.

To anyone without an iPad, you're not missing much. The navigation controls are poor, the editorial barely exists and it's mostly adverts.
