I read it quite well:
The phone person saying "Buy it online" is not the same thing as "we have no such policy, you should not have been refused service".
It sounds more like providing an alternative(online is automated, as long as the mailing address isn't to Iran, the order will go through) without really addressing what happened in the store.
I'm scratching at my memory bank right now. I was working the Apple store (at North Point Mall) when the iPad first launch and this policy doesn't ring a bell (its been 2 years). I do remember we had a system in place for sales to limit iPads and iPhone 4s per customer (practice not unheard of) as way of combating resales and exporting. But this policy does not ring a BELL. I'm assuming its new or I've always been out of the loop (which isn't likely), or rather if it was, was never enforced. If it was, it definitely would've been communicated to me, hence why I assume this is a new policy or it was rarely/never enforced.
Still, its kind of messed up.
Just saying it's a policy doesn't make it true.
hearing someone speak a foreign language is not definitive proof someone is from or planning on returning to any specific country.
I've been to that exact apple store multiple times and every single time I've had a terrible customer service experience. I don't think I will be going there any more, I've had about enough of them and their bullshit.
Why is there an issue with taking electronics back to Iran?

I wouldn't put it past them. They took the whole resales/exporting thing seriously -- and for good reason. If this were the case, this is definitely an extreme way of solving the issue.
correct.
that butt nugget manager was just a bigot.
Are you for real?
Thread about racists/racial profiling? OMG TEH OP IS HATER UF COMPANI!
Sure the title could have been better but way to ignore the topic at hand.
The guy should be sacked on the job and never work in retail again.
Isn't that exactly what's happening though? I mean, it's retarded and doesn't make any sense, but I guess that's sort of the point. It's racist/profiling in the end... it's not like you can be bigoted to a nationality, as it's not a belief.
RubxQub said:I don't see the disagreement between anyone on that basis. Some shitty guy is shitty. Apple doesn't have any anti-Iranian policy.
What's there to discuss? Fire that idiot.
Really? that sucks. When I was still employed there, almost everyone was cool for the most part and were really good at they're job. I do wonder what its like there now, I haven't step foot in that store since I left. Also, I'd like to say that working there was the best job in retail I've ever experienced. I'd like to say I'd vouch for them in that department but after hearing about this.. eh. I'm sure its still a fun place to work.
I went to that store for the first time recently and had a great experience, but yeah, I don't think I'll be heading there anytime soon.
wow. government policy or not, apple is not affiliated with them whatsoever and therefore any policies that don't explicitly affect Apple, shouldn't be applied to Apple. Therefore, this is ignorant, backasswards racism.
I'm a bit shocked that companies like Apple have made their minions at the retail level aware of this stuff, but export control is serious shit. iPhones and iPads are loaded with export controlled technology. So much so that if you ever take a export control seminar someone probably will use both Iran and iphone/ipads as an example.
They should teach Apple a lesson and buy a Surface

Why? So they can enjoy the BSoD on the go?

Iranian's a race?Apple's an airport security middle-man now? This is retail, and it's incredibly racist.
I tried not to laugh but snot flew out of my nose.U Madinejad?
I don't even know what the point of this line of thinking is, and maybe there are small pockets in Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, or Iraq, but the vast majority of those who speak Farsi in the Middle East are from Iran.

As a Former Apple Employee, I know better than anyone else that Apple was over run by Jews long ago and it has since been rotten from the inside. They have no technology of their own for anyone to steal; it is all developed in Asia. They are all highschool and college dropouts and they only occasionally hire engineers to steal their ideas, take credit for their ideas and throw them out after humiliating and destroying their reputation. I know because I am a victim, and Persian. Apple does not produce anything. It is all very poorly clobbered together products from Samsung, LG, Intel, Ubec

A manager showed Channel 2 Action News Apple's policy

National Public Radio reported on its blog Wednesday that Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple returned its call to say "no comment."
Calls to Apple haven't been returned. The company hasn't issued a statement. An employee of the North Point Mall Apple Store in Alpharetta, Ga., where the incident allegedly took place, said employees weren't authorized to speak to the press.
Yeah that place is just ridiculously packed like pretty much most mall Apple Stores. Go to PeachMac at the Forum in Norcross instead.Maybe I'm just soured towards them but one time I had scheduled a time to come in because I had experienced bad wait times there before and the place is just swarming with people with no organization at all. I think the problem is mostly with how the store layout is and how it functions, as opposed to anything bad the employees were doing. But one time they didn't schedule me properly in their ipad so I had to wait about 2 hours to get any customer service, all the while listening to the guy next to me chat it up with an apple employee for 30 minutes about his theater group. Obviously it's very subjective and personal, but I haven't had a good time there.
