I think a lot of people will be thinking that. If any of the mythics from this set get broken, they're going to get stupid expensive.
EDIT: Also, use spell check Wizards:
I thought the demon's name was Wit ;P
Or perhaps that teeny tiny mage there. Poor Wit.
Yeah, this core set seems slow and a bit wacky, which I'm fine with.
Just looking at the set spoiler I can see how White/Blue will be steamrolling drafts. Black is behind by a wide margin but if you manage to crack open a few of the black bombs it might work, paired with blue.
Red as usual I see cherry picking the removal as most of the DD is single R in the cost and green well... green is for big and dumb but its too slow to catch up to crazy ass 2/1 flyers for W and the rest of the airforce. I mean seriously, pair up that hawk with the uncommon knight of glory. Turn one hawk, turn two knight, if you're playing against black, he might as well scoop right there. You're bashing his ass with a 3/2 flyer on turn 2 while the knight can sit back and play defense all day long.
The only reach creatures for green are Deadly Recluse, Sentinel Spider, and Silkslash. Obviously Silkslash is a bomb but its a Rare. Deadly recluse is piss poor and will be good for exactly one Drake token block and that's it. Sentinel spider is a start, but its 5 cmc. You'll be at deaths door before casting it and a swarm of flyers will be kicking your ass. Plummet helps, but its not enough.
White and blue as usual have a ton of flyers that are very well costed and will be kicking butt. Throw in a little Exaulted and its just silly. Not to mention white has Ob ring AND pacifism, I don't think white is going to worry about some spiders. That's not even counting the crappy other removal white has.
But look at the bombs white and blue have compared to all the other colors, its no contest. It's really going to be 8th and 9th all over again in terms of drafting. Don't kid yourself, unless you open a Silkslash Spider or Neferox force White/Blue as hard as you can if you plan on drafting this set. They got the best creatures, best removal and best card drawing. Red is only good for splashing direct damage, black has overcosted exaulted creatures that don't synergize with exaulted except for the 1 mana 0/2 (which I really wouldn't run unless at gun point) and tries yet again to force this "swamps" matter BS that doesn't cut it if all you got for removal is Murder and Mutilate if you are lucky. I mean was printing Corrupt or Consume spirit really that bad? Would it have made black overpowered? I really can't see how Monoblack can win at all. I don't know who except for white to pair black with. But at least it has removal of some sort. Green gets Prey Upon which is its saving grace.
I could POSSIBLY see green/blue work. But it's going to get trumped by white/blue all day long. But again, don't kid yourself, force White/Blue unless you get some ridiculous bomb first pick.
One thing I will say, if I rip a Sands of Delirium I'm going to first pick and play the hell out of that card. That card is bonkers in limited and will end games fast. Mill might actually get there in a core set.
