OK I was totally supposed to post this on like page 2 or 3 but forgot all about it somehow. :lol Sorry! Funny because some of my hyped younger cousins/comic reader friends have been using these as their WP's for a long while now, haha. These are probably useless now that the hype has died down, but hopefully someone will get something out of them. :p

Good review from killing joke. Pretty much agree with all of it

Same here (although personally I didn't really like Avengers; I'd say it and TASM are about on par in my book, both uneven but having their moments).

In particular, I'd like to second the motion that Elfman's work was great in the Raimi films. Probably my favorite composer and should do more films in the genre (though obviously he wouldn't have fit in with Nolan's vision for Batman).

The Peter did indeed say The Line. He said it with his deliberate change in behavior to change his power usage from childish vendettas to responsible for his mistakes.

I honestly have no idea where you're going with this. The phrase "With great power comes get responsibility" was not in the movie. That was what I wanted to see in the movie. I never denied the fact Peter's motivations for being Spider-Man changed.

I'm watching Spidey 2 on TV in Australia right now. It oscillates between awful and pretty good from minute to minute. One thing's for sure: Maguire and Dunst are almost insufferable.

Nah. Maguire on his own is pretty alright, Dunst is the REAL problem. She shouldn't have played MJ at all.

Why do I get the feeling that if they had used that line in the movie, you'd be one of the people (along with me btw) saying that it reminded too much of SM1 all over again.

All in all the gesture was better executed here without the need for the words that are overplayed for no good reason. It's not like something every SM comic reader is expecting or anything.

Dunst would have been just fine in Spidey 2 had she not become a major stoner between Spidey 1 and Spidey 2. She looks positively stoned out of her gourd in almost every scene in S-M2.

Oh, and her wearing a wig in Spidey 1 > her dying her hair red for the sequels.

Some cool hi-res stills I hadn't seen before;

Most of these shots are from this nice article btw (on the vfx); http://www.fxguide.com/featured/spider-man-the-detailed-vfx-of-spiders-and-lizards/

Oh and this might make a nice wallpaper....

They need to take a page out of Nolan's Batman films and make the next villian the Kingpin. He should be a criminal mastermind that has risen to power through ruthless means. Get the right actor and it could be badass. Dude should be Bald and HUGE.

Spider-man has to deal with a whole organized network of bad guys by utilizing his power and, more importantly, his smarts. Frankly, I'm getting a bit tired of the usual super powered guy vs super powered villian schtick. You can throw in Shocker as one of the Kingpin's henchman so the CG team gets paid haha. Make it dark and make Spider-man (and the audience) feel the pain and tension like we did with Ledger's Joker.

Then in part III you can come in with a full Venom arc.

I kinda hoped they were gonna do a full romantic scene with Pete and Gwen swinging around New York. But then I realized what a complete rip-off of Superman: The Movie that would have been.

Ah well.

Tobey was the one who lost it in 3. Totally let himself go for that one. Fat Spidey.

Jiggle.gif.

I never had a problem with Dunst in any of the original trilogy. Perfectly fine actress and attractive. But I might be crazy.

The thing is he's hardly ever really in the suit in the third movie. He knew he could carb himself towards a gelatinous lifestyle, and Spidey would still look fit on screen.

There was. In fact Garfield said it was his favourite scene but it unfortunately got cut out. I was looking forward to that as well after he convinces Gwen to come out with him. It's one of the most glaring cuts in the whole movie.

That is true.

I think we can all agree that BOTH Dunst and Maguire looked their best in the first film.

Sinister 6 employed by Kingpin? Could work I guess, but I really think Kingpin being a focal pint in SM would be lame, and we know how wrong juggling too many villains can go..

Most definitely. When Peter comes through the window with everyone down stairs in SM1, he looked excellent in that shot in particular.

Nice!

Guess that means I should look forward to seeing it in the inevitable director's cut.

Should have been in the theatrical version. It was definitely glaring.

The only problem I had wih Dunst was how not model-like she was as MJ. Her attitude was also all wrong. Most of all, I couldn't accept Raimi's fucking her origin into a next-door neighbour girl instead of supermodel-quality woman that Peter should encounter at later stage of his life.

Maguire, OTOH, was all WRONG. Blank/vacant stare, silly expression, and was chubby-ish even in the 1st one. But he got worse and worse in the 2nd and 3rd one, culminating in that double-chin jiggly scene. Ugh.

What was hilarious about SM3 was that Gwen Stacy was actually the one doing model shoots and posing, where that was literally MJ's shtick in the comics (actually posing half nude, etc).

Seemed so backwards.. Another reason why I can never forgive SM3, what a piece of shit in so many ways that movie was, esp. to the source material (sandman/ben, etc).

The movie is fine, if anything i am excited to see what Webb can do without the constraints of an origin story.

I'm actually surprised they didn't go the Incredible Hulk route, just skipping the origin story all together.

i found the show a bit of a mess between a rushed origin story and a twilight tale...it should be superhero fun like sm2 or im1 or avengers. I also hate how things just happens in the show. sm2 is still best sm imo. i hope sony refresh their story team and rid of webb for the sequel.

Or we can just not let Spider Man become Dark Knight Lite.

Besides, Kingpin is locked up at Fox with Daredevil.

even though they havn't done a daredevil film since early 2000?

For amazing-spidy 2I hope they don't go to vilians already developed in spidy 1-3. Sure I can see green goblin being developed as the main antagonist of 3 but for 2, someone different. Maybe Mysterio?

I want Shocker or Electro

just watched it today, and loved it!

Has anyone read the comics and any idea where I should start? It has 600+ issues...

finally saw it
Garfield is a better Parker and Spider-Man
The Gwen Stacy angle was way better than the MJ take in the Reimi films

but

-the movie is badly written,
-origin story had too much emphasis on Richard Parker took too much precedence.
-Doc Connors/Lizard was awfully casted and ugly
-ubber basic story plot by the villain

Yahoo poll,

Which Hollywood actor is the better Spider-Man?
Andrew Garfield (2012)

19%
Tobey Maguire (2002-2007)

81%

I guess how I can see that you could make the argument that SM2 is better than ASM (though I strongly disagree) but this poll is sooo disappointing, Garfield is a way better spiderman than Maguire

i think asm just did not leave as deep impression as sm1. the superhero shows are very competitive now, so people are less receptive about garfield? asm coming after avengers is bad for sony

garfield is younger and more edgy than maguire so i like him more myself. toby always felt like a mummy boy that even in spidey suit hard for my to see him as wise cracking superhero

Eh, I wouldn't take that as a gauge of popularity. Besides, where is this poll? I can assure you within hours of posting it on tumblr or ONTD the odds would have changed dramatically.

It's amazing that they are still showing trailers and tv spots right now with all the lines and footage that is not even in the movie, with the emphasis on secrets revealed and shit. What garbage. So much cut but I can't imagine this movie being longer, it was already way too long and drawn out.

I dont know what you guys are smoking, the CG was fantastic. The whole Lizard vs Spiderman fight in the highschool was done entirely on CG, there was no set, no actors, no nothing.

I knew it was all CG when the lighting became really fake, it ruined that scene when they did the pan out of spiderman leaving the highschool. They cheaped out on one little scene and it ruined everything.
