Nintendo Downloads - July 2012

Ah, ok then. Thank you.

Already have this one (been the case for all these sales :( ) - everyone who doesn't have it needs to get it. Great game.

Or, pretty dull to the right person. Buy with optimism, but not blindness, as always.

Finally got to try out the demo for Heroes of Ruin. It is a dungeon crawler but something about it just isn't clicking with me and I like this style of game. It has enough action and I felt this was really missing from a lot of the games I've played outside of Zelda, Resident Evil, and Kid Icaru. I knew what it was going to be like. I watched the videos and read up on it. It is what I was expecting but now that I have gotten to play it though I'm not sure I want to go through with the pre-order even if Amazon.com is selling for $10 off the normal price.

Edit: I guess it just doesn't live up to what I experienced in other action adventure games on the system. Not that I didn't enjoy the demo. Just that it wasn't "enough" in the end to maybe buy in the end.

Heroes of Ruin feels like it should be a $20 e-Shop title to be honest. Gotta admire all the love the developers put into the game though you can tell they crammed a lot into this I might purchase it just to support 3rd Party efforts like this.

In the Japanese version I think it only appeared through the game. But you don't have to go to the eShop to add funds, it'll let you do it through the game connected to the eShop :)
Seems to be the same for the NA version which is nice.
I just want it on the actual eShop as well to queue songs as someone else mentioned, and so it will be accessible thought the web interface for the future.
The later (and bonus) stages in the game is really where the challenge is. I found the title really quite simple for three quarters of it, but the last quarter was a great throw back to late 80s / early 90s platforming. It's not the same, but it reminded me of Keen for some reason.
I'll probably wait for a sale on this one then.

I'm really liking the Heroes of Ruin demo. I wasn't even thinking of buying it, but I am now. I don't usually go for fantasy games or pseudoMMoRPGs, either.

EDIT: Finished with Vindicator. Need to play through with Gunslinger. Preordered. See, Nintendo, demos CAN increase sales. Don't pay attention to those guys above, or the fact that I've only bought one game with a demo previously. (And I bought it before the demo came out.)

Bought Sakura Samurai from the sale. Only put an hour in so far, and I can see the complaints of it being repetitive, but so far I love it. It's definitely not for everyone, but Punch-Out's one of my favorite series of all time and I love the setting and look of the game, so it's pretty up my alley

Also picked up Sakura Samurai. It has a nice little feel to it, like Punch Out mixed with a PS2 era samurai game. Really simple environments, maybe a bit repetitive, but in the end it's a fun game. A bit tricky to get the flow down, but once it does it's lots of fun chaining enemies together.

How much is Sakura?

And I still need to try that Heroes of Ruin demo out, hopefully tonight.
Its on sale till Sunday for $4.99

I believe the the regular price was $6.99 so $2 saving.

I got it but won't play it for a couple weeks. Wanna clear abit more of my backlog.

Mutant Mudds seems great. I'd buy it, but I am a bit hasitant, because of its price... More discounts please. :D I guess it's already been asked but I'd like to know how long does it take to complete it for the first time and how long does it take to complete it 100%. And does it have any replay value?

By the way, the Mario & Sonic Album App is quite pointless, but it's free so it's fine. And I don't understand why it wasn't released in every European country...

In re: to the discounts in North America so far

Week 1 Super Mario Land 1
Week 2 VVVVVV
Week 3 Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword

Bought them all. No regrets in the least. I really like Sakura right now too and as many here and in reviews over the net have said, reminds me of Punch Out!! And the 3D effect for this game, which I hardly use on the 3DS, is pretty freaking cool man. =p

EDIT: So my hope is Mutant Mudds becomes available next week. And because of the elite status on Club Nintendo, I got Mini's March Again so I'm very much looking forward to that. Maybe after Nintendo fixes their problems with GBA emulation on the 3ds maybe they can have a Christmas sale on GBA Ambassador games? =p

Couldn't find a marvel pinball 3DS thread.

I currently on fantastic four table. Ball 3 with 64,000,000 on the scoreboard!

Got a bug where Mr invisible saves my ball but it has just disappeared from the table. Is there anyway I can save this score or have I lost it for good?

It's lost for good. The bug doesn't seem to be 3DS specific, either. It can apparently happen in all versions.

Downloaded Sakura Sammurai.

I'll play it whenever. Hope it's good.

I think these sales are bad though. I'm buying everything as soon as its on sale without a second thought. Can't be good for my wallet

It's funny eh, I've become immunized to Steam sales because they're so plentiful. I hardly ever buy stuff from them anymore, despite the deep discounts.

And here the eShop gives me one game a week at like 20% off and I can't resist, since we have no idea how long this will last or if any of these games will be discounted again.

Yea I was talking to a buddy of mine and he said

"you know...if you just buy everything thats on sale, you're just gonna end up spending more money"

I honestly hadn't even thought about it till then.
I know this is kind of backwards but...I hope they stop these sales soon..

Sakura Samurai definitely has nice presentation value, although it also has 3D that screws with my eyes. Reminds me of some early 3D releases, especially from third parties, that didn't know how to control the depth very well. Game play is pretty simple, but it'll probably make a decent portable game to just pick up once in a while. I hope in the end there's a reason to return for collecting, or trying for perfect levels.

New eShop game called The Phantom Thief Stina and 30 Jewels has been announced.

Heist all 30 jewels to complete the game and unlock the detective mode. Play as detective Sara and deploy her robotic security team to protect the jewels against the Phantom Thief. Looks like a July 19 release date for $5.

Is Metroid 2 any good? How hard/long/linear is it?

FWIW I'm perfectly fine with linearity.
It's pretty good, exploration is retained in specific areas at a time but it doesn't hurt the game, although only having Metroids as big fights can be a bit repetitive, the map design shakes things up. Plenty of power ups help progression as well.

It's probably around 4 hours your first try, maybe a bit less.

Alright, that sounds great. I'll download right away.

Thanks!

Oh man, that petit computer looks great, will it be coming to Europe on the same date?

(also will there be a size limit to the games we can create? the QR code generation thing makes me think it will only be a certain amount that can fit on a QR code)

Looking forward to playing lots of free games that people hopefully make, going to try and port some of my own to it.

There was a post showing a Multi QR Code for one program. So I think sky is the limit.
I too hope it gets released in PAL-Land

Just look the crazy stuff people have done with it:

Ys I & II opening (with voice!)

Space Harrier clone

What, with the touchscreen keyboard? *wince*

I haven't seen it in action, but it should be doable if: there's a quickly accessible list of commands/keywords and a list of named labels for your GOTOs.

Anyway, since it's BASIC, there's no need to deal with case, so typing should be easier.

On the fence about Mighty Switch Force here...is it worth it?

It's probably the finest example of how great 2d graphics can look with 3d layers. That aside, it's decent fun but it's over pretty fast unless you want to go for all the record times, and even then some people have said they got all of those pretty fast.

I don't regret my purchase, but just know you're probably only getting a couple hours of entertainment unless you go for time trials/replay it a lot.

Also if you decide you want it, consider that it's coming to Wii U in HD (and it sounds like it'll have the same levels) so if you'd rather have HD than 3D that's worth considering too.

I've been avoiding DSiWare games, but this one is a must buy for me.
DSiWare has been great to me. Moreover, my 3ds got stolen today, so DSiWare will be all I have until the new XL arrives.

No deals right now... :(

Also, am I the only one who is excited about Pokedex 3D Pro? It's a shame that we need to wait 3 months or more for it.

Damn, I thought Zelda and a bunch of other games were supposed to be on a 20% off sale for 2 weeks on the EU eShop...

I really dislike having to buy the same twice if you want to use it on Wii and 3DS. Seems silly. I own Zelda on Wii and would have to buy again for portable use ugh.
