Attacks don't automatically beat throws in SC and Tekken, you can get thrown out of a move. In VF attacks do beat throws.

Not quite that simple, sidesteps only beat half the attacks, and throws are duckable. Most attacks are overhead so often the goal is to train your opponent to duck.
