Well I suppose that sums it up pretty quick.
(I've never really used Giant Bomb so I was just asking)

Though i'm still interested if someone else here will say otherwise.
 
Well, honestly, their boards are just like any other videogame forum really, just be prepared for alot of bitching about staff members. Plus I honestly don't like how segmented their board is. Each game and game concept has its own set of forums. You might like that system if you know which specific game to seek out for discussion, but I like my forums to be a bit more general.

Also their news section, other than the occasional interesting patrick klepek editorial, is pretty much like any other videogames news aggregate site. Just alot more sparse and slower.

The editorial content is what makes them stand out. Look up some good moments of the bombcasts or the quick looks.
 
Pretty much every Mania game is a mess though. In good and bad ways.

I lol'd at Jeff trying the obstacle course again and again.

I think the whole mania thing doesn't work for shoot mania. The way it's designed seems just strange in general. I welcome a competitive fps with open arms, because there are no good fps's on the PC anymore, but this looks kinda janky. I have a beta key, I should see if the movement feels good.
 
*shrug* I have a beta key, I'll be checking it out. Looks like it can be stupid fun with friends, and some of the game types looked interesting (but screw that obstacle course).
 
Does Jeff not use WASD? I came from arrow key roots but I eventually saw the light (customizing controls in almost all games sucked).

Hmm.. Maybe he is using WASD. The Shootmania control display screen threw me off.
 
Jeff would always say the Mania people were crazy, and I would kind of chuckle, amused.

...but pressing the space bar to run, after you jump once... THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE LOCKED UP. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEM?!

you're not supposed to do that, you jump, hold jump in the air to land and gain speed then jump again to keep that speed

so you're bunnyhopping over and over only instead of jumping as soon as you land, you jump and sprint and jump. thats how you do that obstacle course in the quicklook

its an interesting system but once you get used to it, you can gain speed very fast
 
The Shootmania Quick Look did not do the game any justice. Played the Alpha and Beta and the game is a good amount of fun. Royal is great with the right map and people playing, with Elite being the main competitive draw.
 
Yeah it looks like it could be a fun for all game.

Fruit Ninja is still the best Kinect game for me, hopefully it plays up there with that.

Patrick seems to do pretty good with the news.

And people are always knocking the GB community, and yet I see a constant stream of images created on the GB forums being reposted here on GAF. Like the 16 bit sprite characters (see my Johnny V. avatar) as a recent example... And then there's the Big Jeffrey's t-shirt design which also came from the GB forums... etc.

Agreed. Never understood why the GB community gets so much flack around here, it's no better or worse than any other community online (GAF included, gasp).

All internet communities are bad and all internet communities think they are better than the others.
