I didn't try Whale Trail cause that dumb Papa Quash game turned me off, but I'm guessing they changed the game into some pay-to-win scheme with IAPs

Well, they basically neutered the game in every possible way in order to sell IAPs. I know you guys generally pretty honest but Whale Trail 2.0 just left a horrible taste in my mouth and I'd like to avoid updates that destroy the existing game, if at all possible.

In the new version you earn coins but the rate at which you unlock levels and content is the same as when the app was paid. Except now there's a lot more to unlock including three new modes (each with their own leaderboards), 5 power-ups, 13 new weapons, 40 costumes/hats—there's a crapload. The game now has 100 Game Center achievements (some of which are downright diabolical) and mini-goals that'll award you power ups to use in-game. You can, of course, spend real money and get yourself coins to use to unlock things earlier but it's not required. You can unlock/see all the content for free if you're good enough.This doesn't do that—you can play the game as it existed as a paid app all the way through without buying anything. But there's a ton more to unlock and see in addition.
Probably sees it as a way to better market the $3 ipad version

I've only played about 45 minutes of it and seems pretty good. It does have Engrish, though, but it's not too bad.

Apparently it supports iCade too! I don't mind dropping $8 on such an awesome title if I can use the iCade with it, especially considering it doesn't work in iMame - as far as I know only Metal Slug 1 and 2 work in iMame.

Apparently, like most everything for the title, Universal is "planned for an update".
I will buy the HD version on iPad for sure. Pretty classy move by the Developer

Though the new icon is tacky as hell, the update is pretty damned impressive. No ads, but there is IAP. Necessary? Not in the least. Three new game modes were added, a shop with weapons, items and costumes, and missions, a la Jetpack Joyride. They gave me 20k gold for having purchased the game, which is pretty hefty. I was able to buy some pretty sweet stuff with it. All in all, I'm pretty damned happy with the update -- got me interested in the game again.
He made millions and millions off Tiny Wings, I'm sure he'll also make a good amount of money off the HD version. Just seems like a really nice guy.

Try iFBA -- supports pretty much all NeoGeo games. Also CPS2, CS3, Cave etc. at full speeds. Very fast. Overall it's a better featured emu than iMAME as well.

Are you guys mad? Jailbreaking your iPad is insanely easy, no risk, legal, and opens up your device to capabilities you can't even imagine.
Using a non-jailbroken iPad is like eating chocolate chip cookies dry, when there's cold milk in the fridge only a few steps away, but you're just too lazy to get up and get the milk. "This cookie is just fine without the milk, I don't need it. That's just one more glass to wash, plus what if, ya know, I drop it and it breaks or something? Nah, sounds like too much of a hassle to get milk. I don't need it."

Anyone else have problems with the 1000 Heroz update today? It made me re-buy....
For King of Dragon Pass, the advice I always give people is to just sit down and play a game for a bit, and then go read some of the manual. I think there's a tutorial or introduction section, but it's good to read on. I would have found it much more difficult to absorb the manual if I hadn't played first, due to the nature of the game.
I haven't played KoDP in quite awhile now, but after seeing that iPad screen I can't wait to give it another go. It's incredibly satisfying once you figure things out and you're clan finally starts progressing.
As someone who just recently JB'd their iPad, my favorite new feature currently is the tweak that lets you drag your finger across the virtual keyboard to make the cursor scroll left or right, rather than trying to use the damn magnifying glass thing. Also toggles in the notification pane (wifi and brightness get used numerous times every day), as well as the ability to hide apps.

I just can't figure out how to play random games.
EDIT: Okay, after rummaging through the TA forums, it looks like there is no random match-up option right now. It'll be coming later, as there's a "random game" option in Settings, but I think it's disabled for now. Also, it looks like the initial game (99 cents, btw) has only a set of 10 linear, no random quests, so it looks like each match you create will be the same exact quest...? Kind of silly, but I think they're promising a random dungeon option in future updates.
Just added you, I am 'Clockwork Spider' on GC if anyone else wants to have a game. But yeah, Pocket Heroes looks a little limited right now. I certainty hope they now have the base game down that updating it with new quests and match making systems is fairly quick and easy.

That's... probably not true. But it's a good rationalization.
JB is insanely easy these days, and the amount of great tweaks and apps that are JB-only definitely make it worth it.

It's a really weird move considering he is more or less giving away a sequel for free. But then again, he needs the money.
Check out the different boardgames, and if they want to try some co-op but still competitive give Fingle a shot.

I bought the ipad versio just now, I played through the first chapter and the tutorials seemed to drag bit too long and there was really no challenge. Need to give other chapters another go later tonight, hopefully there's more challenge and more than one way to do things.
It's clearly aimed to early teen demography. There's a lot of levels, and even a level editor of some kind. Graphics and controls work great. Sound design feels bit lacking, especially the annoying cheer you get once level is completed. All in all the game is nicely crafted and polished. If I had to bet I would say Rovio has a another hit in their hands.

Really interested in Metal Slug 3. For that price if the controls are decent I would bite. Anyone try it yet?
