Any recommendations on which tables are must buys for Zen Pinball and Pinball Arcade?
About the only ones I *wouldn't* get are Ripley's and (shock!) Bride of Pinbot. Once you realise it's the same ramp over and over and there's a billion-point bonus (basically nullifying any other targets, so long as you get that billion) it gets too samey. Once I got all the table goals (which includes said billion) I dropped it almost completely.

Arabian Nights is probably my fave, FWIW. MM is the one I've spent the most IRL time on, but there are a few niggles (flippers a little too far apart for one) that prevent me from loving it on iOS.

I was wondering if this was the case - I figured it was me being bad at the table (or it was late and I was just losing focus). The gap feels unnaturally large in comparison to most other tables I'd played/tried.

So I decided to pick up an iPhone 4S yesterday. It's my *gasp*, first smart phone. I splurged on about ten games last night. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to play most of them since I decided to play Game Dev Story first, which ended up stealing at least two hours of sleep from me last night. It's not particularly deep or challenging in any way, but I cannot stop chasing that goddamn carrot on a stick. I also picked up the Infinity Blades, some PopGames, Tiny Tower and Pocket Planes, Scribblenauts, and NBA Jam for some reason. I'm pretty excited to be on board with iOS gaming.

Anyways, I asked the OP to add me to the big list, but if any of my GAF bros are reading this, add me on Gamecenter, I'm 5nugg. I need to some leaderboard competition.

I've gone to the Apple side and ordered my very first iPhone ever. What are some good iOS games a former Droid owner will be wonderfully impressed by? So far I'm seeing Tiny Wings as being awesome and I'm a huge fan or Mirror's Edge, so that's a given.

If you're looking to be impressed visually, Infinity Blade II and Dead Trigger are good games to start with. If you're looking for deeper experiences, I'd say Sword & Sworcery and Waking Mars are two great games.

Two of my former work colleagues decided a few months ago to try and make a game of their own after the local game development industry collapsed. Tonight their first game, Run Fatty Run, is finally out on the App Store.

It's a game where you are a fat man and you have to out run a tiger long enough for you to pass another, slower and therefore easier to eat, fat man.

It's universal, costs a buck, and is full of fun donut eating, tiger-avoiding good times.

Check it out and see if their crazy gamble paid off!

anyone else have trouble with Amazing Alex saying it can't connect to Game Center?

also, anyone here play Pathpix? http://appshopper.com/games/pathpix it's a color matching logic game, but it's crazy addictive. i think there's a free version and then he's been releasing full games with the puzzles instead of updates, the UI is kind of ugly, but I can't stop playing it

Done getting all the 504 stars in Early Bird, one of the first iOS games I downloaded (didn't buy the Phoenix IAP for the extra 96 levels though). Been playing it on and off for months, fun game with some interesting stages in the later worlds.

Also, I just checked my GC and it's back to showing what people played last on my friends list instead of "never played". Nice.

edit: the Game Center implementation in Early Bird got busted after the last update it seems, the achievements stopped registering for me to the point I even forgot it had GC support as it wouldn't even log in when I loaded the game. Oh well. I never remove games from GC when I delete them but I'm going to have to do it now because the incompleteness annoys me.

Pathpix are an amazing set of games - I've played through three of them on the phone and pad a couple of times already and I've just seen they have added Pathpix Joy!

Once you get the hang of it, it becomes ridiculously easy. First, ring composition is key: your leader should have the highest leadership (Excellent/Renowned) and worship your chosen deity, after which you just make sure at most one of each god is represented, with each ring member having a high amount (Excellent/Renowned) of his or her respective expertise. Only listen to them when their advice is relevant to the situation, and remember that despite their expertise, they have their own (and their god's) interest in mind.

Generally, when making decisions, always keep your starting choices out in mind (attitude towards dragons, slavery, mortal enemies, etc.) and do not stray from them.

Correct choices in heroquesting usually corresponds with the lore you've collected (but is more dependent on the quester's deity and expertise). They give you huge bonuses. What's more, if you fail, you can always reload from the start of the year.

To break the game, always throw points into Trade at Sacred Time, set up the Temple for Issaries, and set up as many trade relations as possible. You'll have a huge influx of goods coming, and you can bribe your way into making people like you and elect you, as well as curbing favors from the gods. To start off though, make sure you have Barnatar's Vigor and Uralda's Calf Blessing up via shrines. A shrine to Chalana Arroy will ensure that you can keep people healthy. As your clan becomes more awesome, your patron deity and Humakt will help your military might.
Quoting this because it's an awesome and very helpful post that was left at the very bottom of the page. Makes me want to try and get back into KoDP now, but damn, even these instructions are a little overwhelming!

I picked up Pathpix Pro on the recommendation of a friend with well over 500 iOS games. It's pretty fun. I'm stuck on a puzzle right now though.

I have a very unhealthy chemical addiction to Pathpix. I've got all 4 of the games and have virtually completed all of them apart from the very hardest puzzles in each. It is between them and iAssociate 2 to my most played games on iOS list. If you are into those types of games I can also recommend Piczle Lines and PixelLink. Both are solid, although I found PathPix to have the best interface and responsiveness.

I also heartily recommend Piczle Lines - it was great fun and a nice change of art style compared with the drab looking Pathpix. Will give Pixellink a go though as I haven't seen that one before.

Ah, right, the overweight. One of the few groups it's still ok to make fun of.

If you're looking to be visually impressed, check out Ininity Blade II, Real Racing 2 and Galaxy on Fire 2 HD.

Wouldn't normally do this but I'm tearing my hair out as I've been stuck for hours...

Has anyone completed Score! Classic Goals on ipad/iphone?

I have one level to go (so all three stars on this level) to take me up to completion (720 stars). The level I am stuck on is in 1980s bonus mode (CZE-ITA). I have absolutely no idea how to score.

If anyone can help you are a hero!

Crentist :)

It really sucks that you can't play with random people in Pocket Heroes. Big misstep by the guy who developed it. Anyone who wants to play, add me GoHoosiers

My favorite is Tilt to Live, the viva la turret expansion is a must. Kingdom Rush is a blast also. Sooooo many good games for so little money. iOS gaming rocks.

My kids and myself just love the mp on Tiny Wings HD, we are on holiday and it's great way to spend some spare time. Can you guys recommend me other games with a competitive mp on 1 iPad ?

Here's what I have in my "2-Player Games" folder:

Dizzypad HD
Battle of the Block
Harbor Master
Fingle
Fruit Ninja HD
Znipball
Orbital HD
Soccer Rally
Mirror's Edge HD
Tiny Wings HD

And here's a list for 4+ players:

Funny Slap
Achtung
King of Opera
Ticket to Ride
Slice HD
Slingshot
OLO
Bloop
Yahtzee

As far as I know, all of these titles work on the iPad 1.

Puzzle Quest (not puzzle quest 2)
Puzzle Bobble
Minotron
Infinity gene
Hookcham & Hookworld
Fairway Solitaire
Final Freeway 2R
Plants vs zombies

I don't know where else to ask, but does anyone else have issues accessing the secondapps site using the new Chrome browser? I can sign in but I can't acess anything else. Clicking on anything just reloads the site :(

Also, has anyone tried out the adventure game Yesterday yet? It was plugged on Weekend Confirmed and it looks really nice, just curious about the quality of the plot and puzzles

try m.neogaf.com

:) NeoGAF launched their own mobile site which was developed by the guy from the secondapps site.

Shmup is just used to differentiate from other shooters. Or, "STG" which sounds like something that is sexually transmitted. But I guess "shmup" does also, haha.
