yeah, People are expecting something grandeur to happen at the end. I remember everyone talked about District 9 and it's crazy ending, so I went in expecting to come out changed for life and ended up with empty feeling and disappointment. I believe expectations will either make or break the movie.
Good Lord.![]()
I'm not sure what can be expected of the ending? Unless the movie lives in a vaccuum, they can't bring unicorns and rainbows to gotham, neither can they kill batman (can they?). They are somewhat limited in what miracles they can bring.
And this is called the Dark Knight Rises.
I'm just pissed they don't seem to have mid-week previews in the UK - Friday is the earliest they are showing it. Was hoping to grab an early show before I go off on holiday
A smart, stirring spectacle that faces down impossible expectations to pull off a hugely satisfying end to business. Boy, youre in for a show tonight
I'd say Bourne is a 5 - 4 - 4
Critics and the Oscars loved Ultimatum, so did I, but I can't see where it's better than Identity.
I consider it to be my personal favorite trilogy.
Which will change on the 27th.

My DARK KNIGHT RISES review isn't finished. Tomorrow maybe. The movie is pretty silly, entertaining, thematically hollow. Bond-esque.
Devin Faraci @devincf
Very interested in discussing the ending when the movie is released. AVENGERS remains best superhero movie of the year.
That's good to hear, since I always disagree with him.
I just need to know if Nolan has topped Fantastic Four yet in Devin's eyes.
thematically hollow?
Is he for real?
Always has to mention another superhero film.
Dark Knight was no Spider-Man 2 and Rises is no Avengers, lol.
lol sadly he is.
If there's one thing I know about Devin, he hates Batman as a character, and he thinks Batman's villians are more interesting than Batman. Devin disliked Batman begins but gave a good review to TDK for this very reason.
And since Batman plays the core of the story, (Joker was a bigger part of story in TDK) I expect him to trash TDKR.
God damn I wish he would drop into a hole and never rise from it.
Is this guy just a marvel fanboy or what?
No, just a complete and utter douche.
I'd never heard of Devin, so I went googling. Didn't make it past the search results. "Badass Digest"? You fucking serious?
Criticizes film for being thematically hollow, then praises Avengers.
Just so everyone's clear, Devin is the dude who wrote the piece on Avengers 'Defeating Irony and Cynicism': http://badassdigest.com/2012/05/20/the-avengers-defeated-irony-and-cynicism/
Guy's been at war with Nolan's Batman since 2005, IIRC.
He is easily one of the worst critics around, so it doesn't bother me. Reviews are good so far though.
If you're going to do this, wait until it's someone other than Devin Faraci.I'm just laughing because the same shit happened for TDK, Inception, this, and probably every movie Nolan will ever make from here on out. Negative reviews are instantly dismissed.
Have some backbone, people.

8-10 is mixed?Reviews seem mixed from what ive seen so far

Well, 3 of 6 low ratings for TDK on metacritic are from New York critics. And 6 of the 9 for Inception were. There's always a conspiracy. On TDK GAF told me that NYC critics had it out for the movie.
For anyone else in Atlanta who is looking to score free passes,Creative Loafing is giving some away. You have to pick them up and presumably play ping pong or not.

You're a little premature with this, bro. It's Devin, he's never likes Nolan's Batmans

I'm premature in discussing history? It happened with TDK and Inception. But alright, let's wait for the first bad non-Faraci review.
In which theme song I can heard "Deshi Basara"?
Mind If I Cut In, good theme for catwoman
Just bought my tickets today for an IMAX viewing on Sunday.
I guess this movie isn't doing that well. I expected them all to be sold out.
New IMAX screen in Toronto that no one seems to know about. Thank god. Scotiabank was sold out of all the good seats until next Thursday. Can't wait!
Edit: When it comes to reviews, the place I trust least for Nolan reviews is GAF. Too many militant Nolan defenders on here. There are a few exceptions of course.

Oh yeah, they're changing the Yonge/Dundas square location to a Cineplex. Must be done by now I think.
The technical side of things is sharper than ever before, and if this really is the last film that Wally Pfister shoots, he's going out in style. Even more of this film was shot with IMAX cameras than "The Dark Knight," and it makes for some breathtaking visual moments that match the emotional impact of the film's operatic final act. Hans Zimmer's work here is brutal, percussive, borderline crazy. It feels like things are starting to shake to pieces, like the entire world is about to implode. I found the final movement of the film, a good thirty minutes or so, almost unbearably emotional, and I think it may be the best stretch in any of the films
I didn't pick up my tickets there though. I'm going to the IMAX screen at Empress Walk in North York. I hope it's good.
Does Yonge/Dundas have an IMAX screen?
- Just out of The Dark Knight Rises. Can't quite believe Nolan's audacity. It's astounding - outstanding even - and as cold as polished steel.
- The plot has a novelistic scope and it's every bit as much of an ensemble movie as Inception. Here Batman is a symbol more than a character.
- Themes and imagery from BB and TDK are woven throughout, but Nolan's influences are bigger: Dickens, Eisenstein, Lang are all in there.
- So yes, it is a five-star, blow-your-head-off triumph. Can see it being many people's film of 2012
I like him.Robbie Collin of The Telegraph is raving on twitter:
TDKR is a bloated mess. Too many characters, dull too often. JGL & Anne Hathaway save it.
