10/10

Christopher Nolan saved the best for last, concluding the epic thrill-ogy that began with “Batman Begins” (2005) and continued with “The Dark Knight” (2008), re-imagining the iconic comic-book hero played by Christian Bale and making it relevant today.

On the Granger Movie Gauge of 1 to1 0, “The Dark Knight Rises” is a triumphant 10. Tense and terrific – it’s the best action-adventure of the summer!

If we are to dismiss the overly negative should we not dismiss the unflinchingly positive? Just a thought.

Sitting here at work after a good weekend and all I want is the next one so I can go see "the Batman" rewatching BB and TDK with my gf to get her up to speed and started playing arkham city, just making the hype build for this.

My body is ready.

The thing with the negative reviews so far are that I can identify the flaws with them:

No Joker - stupid criticism
Overlong - didn't think that of TDK which got the same criticism
Too many characters - lots of films have lots of characters

Then there's the praise:

Thematically like BB - perfect because BB is arousing as all fuck
Bale gives his best performance yet - Better than in BB? Holy pepperoni
Catwoman ass - mmm

Msn movies 5/5

What did we think?
Epic from the get-go, the final part of Nolan's Batman trilogy may just be his best, combining spectacular action set pieces with thrilling plot developments and thorough characterisation - something blockbusters so often lack

Verdict: An exciting, action-packed blockbuster with brains and bravado: the highlight of the summer's cinema so far.

I think is just a single ticket to the trilogy marathon.

I know I wouldn't enjoy it but the more I see and hear of people going to the marathon the more I wish I went to one.

Seeing BB and TDK in IMAX again would be awesome.

How much break do they provide in between?

Yeah, I edited. At first I just read the times and thought you were doing TDKR 3 times.

I'm probably going to have to see it at least twice. Various friends cannot make the midnight showing.

I'm sure they'll at least provide enough time to refill popcorn/concessions/etc.

No score generally positive

Stirring in its broad strokes but shakier in its handling of the nuances of character and story, The Dark Knight Rises doesn’t lack for ambition or vision. Nonetheless, this final instalment in director Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy is the first of the series not to smoothly execute its grand aspirations. The film suffers a bit from a glut of new characters — none of whom are as indelible as Heath Ledger’s Joker from The Dark Knight — but is helped along by Nolan’s continued insistence on emotional resonance over mindless spectacle. If there’s a slight sense of disappointment that this sequel can’t match the heights of the first two films, there’s no shame in a major studio tentpole daring to let its reach exceed its grasp.

I have Dark Knight Rises Friday, and my bachelor party Saturday.

Is it sad that at this point, I'm looking forward to the Dark Knight Rises more?

so solo what do you say now reading this.

Devin Faraci makes a lot of hotly divisive statements. He does it on purpose. It's a large part of why he has such a large online presence, and it's why he's risen from a nobody blogger to a generally professional tomato-meter critic. Everyone ITT complaining about how ridiculous he is is just contributing to his popularity. He's even said as much himself.

If you think his opinions cross the line from legitimacy to traffic-whoring, then stop talking about him.

I'm not sure what can be expected of the ending? Unless the movie lives in a vaccuum, they can't bring unicorns and rainbows to gotham, neither can they kill batman (can they?). They are somewhat limited in what miracles they can bring.

And this is called the Dark Knight Rises.

I'm just pissed they don't seem to have mid-week previews in the UK - Friday is the earliest they are showing it. Was hoping to grab an early show before I go off on holiday

My original interpretation of "the Legend dies" centered around the fact that Batman doesn't use guns and he doesn't kill. I figured the legend dying would be centered around a scene where Batman grow so desperate that he shoots Bane to stop him. That'd be such a powerful moment I feel. Many of you may recall something like this from Batman beyond.

But then I remembered the pretty much did this in TDK (technically). So I'm fresh out of ideas. Pretty sure he wont die though. Too literal.

That he didn't like BB. Big deal.
wow calm down, must be eating you up inside.
