"Hi" was better

Yeah the face Ledger pulls is hilarious.

That interrogation scene in TDK, the way the music amps up, the way Ledger says "you have nothing to threaten me with! Nothing to do, with all your strength!", the scene where he hangs his head out the window of the car... Fuck me, that sequence still gives me chills; as does Harvey with Gordon's kid at the end, the music is phenomenal.

Those two scenes, along with Bruce and the bunch of ninjas with Ra's hiding, and his attack on the mobsters at the docks are the best bits of the films so far.

Nice

Here's something stupid, but everytime I see a little bit of this chase by the cops, it's all I can think of.

You must love all the Godfather trilogy as a whole then.

I'm lukewarm on Godfather 3. For me, it's just sort of boring; mostly fine, but also flawed. If I ever had a fear about this movie, it would be something similar.

Mediocrity is such a boring, discussion-killing way to end a franchise. Way less satisfying than a great close (obviously), but also a lot less fun to watch than an absolute misfire.

I would much rather have a lukewarm ending than some shitfest like the Mass Effect 3 ending where the only thing people will remember the trilogy for is the shit ending. At least with some mediocre movie, it doesn't retroactively shit on the other movies in the trilogy. Where's that Spider-Man 3/BttF gif?

It pretty much sounded like he thought the characters were boring and pretty procedural.

Yeah, it was odd. He complained about Nolan keeping the comic book fun at arms length, then went on to criticize that Bane and Catwoman weren't as dark and ironically tragic as the Joker and Dent.

I'm really hoping TDKR can give us another iconic ramped up scene like the interrogation one. So good.

Does Eckhart get paid for tdkr?

I would imagine so, seeing as how integral of a part he's playing.

Gordon goes to Blake you can be my wingman anytime.
No you can be mine
High five.

Did Godfather 3 get any over-effusive reviews? I can understand a few liking it but not to the extent of the first two.

Mind you I'm not that huge a fan of the second one barring the De Niro scenes (although I do have to rewatch it)

Haha. Yah, I see your point for sure.

Spider-Man 3 was the example I was thinking of. It's a film that set the internet into a rage at first, but is sort of funny in retrospect in a "what the fuck were they thinking?" sort of way. You're right, though. It also killed my passion for the franchise and diminished my love for the first two. Then again, a lukewarm ending might have done the same.

It did ok. I'm not comparing it to TDKR's reception. I was just using it as an example of an ever-looming fear I had about Nolan's finale before I'd seen any casting, footage, etc. I knew he wouldn't make a bad film, but I was afraid he might make a middling one.

I really want to hear more negative reviews but I have a good feeling that most of them will cite the weak characters as being the problem of the movie compared to TDK which had more structural issues.

Spider-Man 3's an entertaining mess for me. It's very bad but it's watchable enough. Haven't seen the first two for a while but I remember SM1 feeling really aged last time I did.

I enjoyed TASM, they just need to pick up plot points and have a much, much better villain; Molina as Ock was perfect casting, and Garfield/Stone are great. Ifans was okay but the Lizard was done very poorly.

That's probably the main strength of Nolan-Batman for me. The casting is impeccable (apart from Rachel baha).

Joker's "LOOK AT ME!" was something ferocious. I'm pretty sure small children peed a little.

(the part where Joker is messing with Batman imposter on handheld camera).
I still can't believe they got to do the final tdk scene in a pg13 movie.
Lie to your son, tell him everything is going to be okay

Lie, like I lied.

God, Eckhart was so underrated.

Yes. Everyone always goes on about Ledger (and yes, Ledger was marvelous), but Eckhart had the tougher job and came through with flying colours. The stand-out of TDK for sure. Just an amazing performance. The final scene with him is brilliant.

Pretty much agree. Gary Oldman is also brilliant, he nails Gordon SO WELL.

there be spoilers everywhere, so much net to avoid D:

Is Joker in this one? I love the Joker.

Nah, it's some fat guy. I've seen pictures of him. I think he's at stock market at one point or something.

Think he's called the Broker.

Dunno. I really don't like when movie-people just make up new characters to put in the films as villains and shit. So I don't care about him.
