Answering this question:

I've got about $40 left in my budget (not too strict though, I have the cash to spend more, just a goal) and am curious what you guys think about 2 possible purchases:

Interested in Metro 2033, but may not play it for a bit. Should I grab it anyways or is it likely to be cheaper during the Winter Sale once the sequel is out?

Is Europa something I should be looking closer at? Is it going to scratch an itch other games likely miss?

The answer is, the only competition that Europa really has are other games made by the same company.

Off the top of my mind, I can't think of any non Paradox games that are kind of like Europa.

Just something to note: Complete isn't actually complete (it was when it released.) The full version with every expansion is actually Chronicles. I'd really recommend getting Chronicles over Complete.

Also, I bought Dear Esther despite hearing mixed things about it. I figure, as a fan of literature and art in general, I should see what it brings to the table myself, as I may have a very different perspective than the people I've heard that hate it--*cough* Total Biscuit *cough*.

A couple of years ago I bought EUIII on Impulse (before the GS buyout). Now I find myself conflicted on spending $7.49 for Divine Wind after finding so many other deals for cheaper. I'll probably sit on it, hoping for a daily deal in 4-5 days and seeing if I've bought anything else.

Unless I wake up in 9 hours and cave...

Getting tempted to buy DR2: OTR even though I usually play DR games for an hour and quickly realize that I hate the game's mechanics.

...help. :(. I've already spent over $115.

I say if you don't like the game mechanics, skip it. I had to buy DR2: OTR though, i loves me some zombie bashing.

But you usually make better decisions after a good sleep. Most people do at least.

I guess I can stay up for another hour and ten minutes to hold out for new deals. No way in hell I'm staying awake for another 3 hours, though.

Whee. Just picked up Divine Wind to finally round up my EU III. Now if I only had the brains to actually sit down and learn to play the thing. ;(

i know this was prolly addressed a million times in the last OT, but: do i want dear esther for a snickers bar? i dont mind short artsy games but they gotta be good, ive no idea why i bought cemetery.

So I wanted to ask this again because I asked at the end of the last thread sooo yeah

do people think Ys Oath won't be a flash/daily deal? I see a lot of people not waiting for either of those deals for Ys Oath.
It could be, but Indie V is already a daily deal which included it. I was expecting it to drop too, but it didn't. It's been that price since the start of the sale. There is still 6 days left, so if it never goes as a flash or daily deal by itself, get it on the last day.
Tony from Amazon was giving them away for free the other day :)

He gave like 200 copies of the complete edition in the amazon thread. I got mine.
DAMN! I missed it. :(

Damages have been fairly light this sale. Got Alan Wake, Binding of Isaac, Cave Story+ and The Walking Dead.

The problem with having experienced so many sales already is that I don't get to go into purchasing madness come the current sale and the holiday sale. Also because I'm a poopy pants and buy games on release week anyway.

I have no idea what Dear Esther is about, but the trailer convinced me I had to buy it, if only for walking around with the beautiful vistas, not expecting much from a gameplay standpoint.

That's great for me, I'll get some time to relax between all the killing from SR3, lol.

And with $5 Amnesia, I think I am done. Got everything I wanted, plus some. Almost missed that Amnesia, luckily it's still showing up as $5 even though it's flash sale appears to be done.

Question, how long is Dear Esther? I heard it was around 2 hours or so?

Oh, and I'm pimping out my gif for this new thread, as it was swiftly buried in the last one. It's my first gif I've ever made and I put lots of effort into it :(

Crude but I'm diggin it!

So what recently purchased games have you guys played already?

I got about an hour into Saints Row III, which turns out to be pretty damn fun. I really want to try The Darkness II tomorrow, too.

It's super pretty, but I really can't recommend it, even at $2.49. We've still got a few days to go, I say just save the money.
