Other things I liked:

- Oldman's hair

- Hathaway holding Daggett up against the wall with her heel

- the guy from Torchwood drowning

- Batman in the little flash chamber looking fucking awesome

- Seeing Hardy's face in the pit

- Tom Conti's sexy voice

- Selina kicking Bruce's cane

- Bane punching the pillar trying to fix his tubes

- The possibility that I might see Cotillard's tits

- every time Alfred looked like he was going to cry

- Neeson moustache and Pence's moustache. They looked really alike

- JGL's accent

- Bruce in the pit going full fucking angry

Negatives:

- the fact I didn't see Cotillard's tits
Wha-? Did I miss something, because I don't remember seeing it.

Is his real name really John 'Robin' Blake? How cheesy was the reveal?

Its more silly than anything. A throwaway comment made by Blake as he leaves the reading of Wayne's Will.

About half a dozen people yelled out "It's Robin!" after he said it. I facepalmed.

When they revealed Talia was the kid and the protector was Bane. As she climbed from the pit and the other prisoners attacked him his face was uncovered for a moment.

What was that? I vaguely remember thinking 'Killer Croc' but I can't remember what happened. Crocodiles in the sewers?
When Blake was saying that they should investigate the army of people rumored to be down in the sewers, he police chief(?) laughed it off and told him to go looking for giant crocodiles down there instead.

It was vey good, but I don't think it was better than BB or TDK. The script was the weakest part, the opening was very exposition heavy and the plot felt needlessly complex at times. And there were some very noticeable examples of straight up lazy writing (Blake's "I know that Bruce Wayne is Batman because we're both orphans" left a very bad taste in my mouth).

But despite that, there's a whole lot to love about the movie. Hardy was brilliant and dripping with menace in just about every scene. I wasn't sure Catwoman would work but Hathaway pulls it off fantastically. The action scenes were probably the best of the series, with the first Bane-Batman fight definitely the standout of the trilogy. And I wasn't sure about the ending while I was watching it, but after sleeping on it I think it's incredibly fitting and (other than the 'Robin' gag which felt way too forced and took me out of things for a moment) very well done.

It was definitely disappointing (my astronomical hype probably didn't help), but still a very good film and a great end to the trilogy.

If there's any mod reading this thread, I need to square up a ban bet I made. Please PM me so we can discuss the details without spoiling the rest of gaf.

The scene with Bane absolutely destroying bats was fucking brutal! Easily my favourite scene in the whole film.

I thought their fight at the end was disappointing. Finally have these two ninjas from the league of shadows about to go all out and we get this up close and personal boxing match. Shit really was Rocky III.

I don't feel like the film earned it's ending with Bruce at the cafe. I'm not saying it's a bad ending, just that everything building up to it rang so hollow that it fell flat for me when it should have made me pump my fist. The fact that Alfred disappeared for three quarters of the film didn't help.

The Robin shit and Blake finding the bat cave made me groan. I thought Nolan was above that shit. And yeah, his reasons for knowing that Bruce was Batman is a perfect example of lazy fucking writing. 'I've seen that faking it look before, and immediately knew you were Batman!' Lulz.

Oh and I hated the scene where Catwoman leaves without Batman noticing and he says 'So that's what that feel like' in the bat-voice.

It got audience laughs, but to me was a bad joke at the expense of the character of Batman. It was like Arnold putting on Elton John glasses in T3 for me. That is the part that made me think of one of those Funny or Die Batman parodies.

I share Sculli's opinion on a film. OH GOD.

The fact that Blake had it all figured out and Gordon was clueless was stupid. I know they were setting up Blake to be a super amazing detective and all but still... Ugh. I also guess Gordon had no desire to know who The Batman was. It just comes off as sloppy writing though.

Oh and I hated the scene where Catwoman leaves without Batman noticing and he says 'So that's what that feel like' in the bat-voice.

I thought that was probably the best gag they did in the film.

I hated Catwoman. "Judge" Crane was awesome.. "DEATH BY EXILE!" And Alfred as always was great.

I also didn't like that every callback to the other films had to be punctuated by a flashback of said event. No faith in the audience to know what these characters are talking about.

I bet you're going to see a lot of people wishing Batman would have died, even though the whole point of the Nolan movies is that he has to stop Batman eventually and live for once.

It's going to be MGS4 all over again.

I saw it tonight as well - and yeah - this will be MGS4 all over again.

I thought it was fucking brilliant personally. Gonna try to see it in IMAX this weekend, but my thinking right now is that while I think the villains in TDK were better, TDKR was a better movie, and probably the best of the trilogy. Hathaway was hella better then I expected, Hardy was incredible and JGL came across as a very young idealistic Jim Gordan (which I believe is what Nolan was going for).

This was the best Bale has been in all three movies too imo. Caine and Freeman were awesome, Oldman took it to the next level and overall the acting was fantastic.

My mind is still a jumbled mess thinking about the movie but overall I was blown away.

I was expecting the film to end with a BATMAN INC deal. Bruce admitting he had been funding Batman then installing Blake as he retires.

Actually, what was the state of Waynecorp at the end of the film?

^^^^^wasn't his estate pretty much broke except for the house (debts settled with asset sales)......no mention about rolling back the fraud.

it was pretty obvious he was was robin with all the interactions they were having throughout the movie....they didn't have to actually spell it out for goodness's sake hehehe.

If I go to bed and we get to post #201 can someone please make a nice 20-30 space buffer for the people not wantining to get spoiled

Thanks

lmao JGL is robin? I really didn't think Nolan would do this. Pretty cool though i guess.. he definitely looks the part. Its a shame that its meaningless since there will be no 4th movie

Not exactly, Its his middle name.

I'd be up for a JGL Nightwing movie though.

I was of the impression that his name was Robin John Blake, and that the lady was calling him by his true first name. Often people who dislike their first name use their middle name instead.

Warner Bros. loves money. They'll make a fourth one. It won't have the Nolans, or Bale, probably not JGL... but they'll make one.

They will reboot it. Probably in line with the new Superman. I'm looking forward to it. I went them to get away from the movie Batman and adapt the comics properly. I want less black rubber suits and eye make up and more Killer Croc, Clayface and stuff.

Wait, Blake is an amazing detective too? Why didn't Nolan just call him Tim Drake from the beginning? He would've had the same sensation among comic book fans without the cheesy scene.

I really liked the Robin sting at the end. Reminded me of the Joker-card at the end of Begins.

How Blake knew Bruce was Batman, though? That was some weak ass shit. Far and away the weirdest thing in the movie.

The Rise scene was fantastic.

I'm disappointed Bane was blown away and then never heard from again. I felt like he deserved something more, rather than just being tossed aside to chase down Talia.

The cafe scene and the rising platform in the cave gave me happy chills.

I wouldn't recommend this film to 10 year olds, it's pretty brutal at times, such as the Bane/Batman beatdown, and pretty much anything Bane. Maybe 13 year olds.

Anyway, love love loved this film. A masterpiece. Seven out of five stars.

I wasn't very comfortable with Alfred having the 'Oh, you haven't heard about Bane? Don't you know what people have been saying about him! He's mean, Rock! He's got the eye of the tiger!' conversation.

I just assumed he read Banes Wiki page

I didn't find Bane to be that brutal or scary. He felt more like a villain from a pantomime. I kept expecting him to wait for the audience to boo and hiss him after every evil speech he gave.

I avoided spoilers completely until watching, and I thought Blake would become Nightwing. His whole renegade attitude fit more with Nightwing's philosophy - although since Robin becomes Nightwing anyway, you could argue that that side of him is always there.

Also, fewer people know about Nightwing than Robin, so the link is less obvious for more casual viewers.

Seriously, the Robin ending just immediately made me flash back to the scene in Indy 4 where hit hat is blowing down the isle toward Shia Labeouf. At least Spielberg had the good sense to have Indy pick it back up in 'LOL MAYBE NEXT TIME, KID' way.

The robin reveal had me rolling rolling my eyes.

I just came back from seeing. It was amazing! I was really impressed. But it's worth noting the film is a different beast to the first two. It was much more epic and really opened up the universe by having contact with the outside world (for example seeing the president on the tv). This film draws so much on the first two where as the other two were pretty contained. I'm impressed Nolan managed to pull together the story into a sensible arc.

Alfred by Bruce Wayne's grave at the end though was such a heart puller. The 'real' ending was perfect too. Satisfying to see Bruce get his happy ending and Batman likely to rise again (or maybe Blake will create Robin instead of using the cowl?). Anywho, I don't want to see a sequel. This story completes it.

I thought Nolan was above that Robin bullshit, but then I remembered that the other two films had both heavy handed and cheesy moments as well.

I thought Hathaway was terribly miscast as Catwoman and I'll go as far to say that Catwoman shouldn't have even been in the film. I thought she took away from Bane more than she added to the overall film.

JGL's accent was slipping in and out like crazy. I couldn't help but notice it.

I agree with Sculli about the ending. I don't think Nolan earned that whatsoever. This film was the weakest of the three in my opinion.

All the inclusion of JGL's character did was steal time away from Gordon. Everything JGL did could have been done by Gordon in the film. Damn it, Nolan!

This is my main problem with Nolan. He gets a hard on for certain actors and it's obvious that he creates plots for them. I thought the romance between Talia and Wayne was completely unbelievable. I didn't buy it for one second.

I found it hilarious at Talia Al Ghul would sleep with and spoon the man she hates so much.
