I always download the videos to watch using their feeds.

Video quality and download speeds have both gotten worse for me over the last few weeks.
 
I think of Quick Looks EX as the sort of video content that nearly every other video game website would release on a regular basis. Whether good or bad, they generally betray the reason most of us visit GiantBomb.
 
QL EX's can be fine, as long as the person(s) involved understands Giant Bomb. As long as you get the feeling they visted the site before, and try to have a bit of fun showing their game, it can be fine.

Warning signs for QL EX's are people asking "can I curse" in the first 2 minutes, and then rattling off a handful of PR Buzzwords in the first 5 minutes. Also, use of the world "COMPELLING" is a no-no.

I thought this quote was very engaging. I enjoyed the interactivity and visceral nature of its verticality.
 
Yeah EX's can be hit or miss. I found Dyad's to be boring and even awkward at times, but as someone who doesn't give a shit about NASCAR I found that EX surprisingly informative and interesting.

Honestly I think Ryan should helm all EX's. Great host that asks and converses enough to keep from dead air, and can adjust to personalities that may not particularly jive with the over all Giant Bomb atmosphere. Makes it a lot more bearable even if they can't be 100% candid.

I'm hesitant to say EX's should go away because that would mean no more Double Fine
 
That NASCAR game has mad Codemasters menus lol. You walk around your garage (RV in Dirt 2), you have credentials in plastic holder during loading (Dirt 2) and you get sponsors (like Grid) haha... Not saying it's a bad thing per say but if you've played a lot of Cody games like I did its a bit jarring haha.

God, it must be brutal making a NASCAR sim that has a lot of realism etc., and then bringing it around to journos and have them just bumping around the track. I mean, I'd be no better, but I assume Ryan is missing a lot of the finesse of the sport. Not really a fault of Ryan--just an observation.

Note: I hate NASCAR anyway, haha.

Also, I couldn't make it through the Dyad QL because I had no fucking idea what the mechanics were, and no one was explaining it--or when they briefly did, they did a poor job of it. Was this just me?

I started using the Youtube player when they took away the quality selector for the Gamespot player, the 540p (or whatever it was) option was perfect for me in terms of speed vs quality. The default "high" quality looks terrible, worse than the old player I think.
 
I like most EXs. I thought both the Dyad and Nascar ones were good. Nascar guy had a good time. Dyad guy was humorous, and was actually good at the game.

Brad Muir ones are obviously the best. But not all developers are that cool.

Side note: NCAA 13 QL is hilarious.
 
anyone else only getting really weird left/right sound mixing on the NCAA quick look? both on giant bomb and youtube

ok I'm 10 minutes in and its a great QL. Jeff and Vinny is the best no matter what the game is

I can believe that, but I still didn't think they made much effort in properly explaining the game. The developer especially seemed strangely disinterested in having a coherent presentation of his game; and Brad has this habit to just repeatedly calling weird games weird and somehow forgets to actually explain what he is playing.

Yeah, this. About 1 out of every 3 of them is either dry and insomnia-curing or is some slimy spindoctor trying to talk up the title as some kind of erudite intellegentsia Überspielen that will raise GAMING ITSELF from the dark ages or some horseshit.
