hope this thread stays active, i wont be able to see this beast till monday now, love reading peoples impressions.

But it isn't. This is three completely separate films that just happen to carry over characters and arcs. But they were all planned and executed as individual entities. This wasn't one of these ones where they come out of the gate saying they have a trilogy planned.

So it only makes sense to view them not as a body of work, but as three distinct entities.

About 8 hours for me. I would have seen it at midnight but I've noticed a pattern of not liking movies as much during midnight screenings because I get tired and grumpy.

I'm getting old.
 
I hate watching midnight shows.

I always end up hating the movie more than it deserves. Its just too tiring.

I watched TDK at my most attentive (weekend, late afternoon). Was worth it.

I think we can do both. Each movie should be judged individually as a film, because that's how they were made. They were made one at a time, without a larger plan for the next film before the current one is done.

At the same time though, each film builds on the previous one. So there is clearly an intended design where each subsequent film takes into consideration what has come before it and builds on the themes and characters.

Just came back from the marathon. I had only seen Batman Begins, and I hadn't watched it since it was in theaters, so it was great to watch all three movies back to back. The Dark Knight Rises was amazing, the trilogy is amazing, and Christopher Nolan is amazing. I haven't had so much fun at a movie in a while.
 
Just got back after seeing it, only to read the news of the shootings in the US, beyond fucked up.

I was gonna post my impressions but the shooting thing is clouding my thoughts atm
 
say what you will about Nolan films, but there a few movies that leave me feeling as good walking out of the cinema after having seen it for the first time. They have problems that are fairly easy to identify and pick apart, but for the most part, I walk out feeling like I've watched something a little different from everything else even remotely similar in theme to it. I really appreciate that.

The more I think back over the movie the more I can't wait to see it again, this time in IMAX.
 
strange the film is causing some people have an allergic reaction to it, even some fanboys, i cant remember the last time a film was like this.

The title of the spoiler thread is tooo similar to this. I almost accidently clicked that twice (same length title, and both these threads are alternating to the top of the list in OT).


Can that thread be put in the community forum, for at least a while or have its title modified so that it doesnt resemble this one? I'm trying to avoid OT and use my subscriptions to enter this thread, but I want to read other stuff in OT too.

Pls.

Hah. Did the same thing.

And I agree, the thread title of the other thread needs to be a little different. At the very least make "unmarked spoilers" all caps.
 
Well here I go GAF. I've enjoyed reading all the impressions and stuff on here (except account suicide #3), which has made the wait a bit more bearable. Here's hoping that the negative opinions of some posters doesn't seep into my brain and affect my enjoyment of the film.
