The Giant Bomb Quick Look Thread 2

Jeff does seem pretty negative. But I could say this about a lot of reviewers and its a problem I notice with alot of game reviewers in general. Its different to movie reviewers who just have to sit through 2 hour movies to get their review done, cos that is the same way the general audience sees movies. Game reviewers however, binge play games constantly, completing entire games in a matter of 1 or 2 days. Its an unusual experience that average gamers do not share and I think it makes them see certain games in a very different light and be increasingly jaded and negative.

OT, but question I have. Why do game reviewers find it neccessary to complete the game before reviewing it? I know if Im enjouing a game and if its right for me within the first hour. IS something completely unexpected going to happen after that that will make me rethink my entire experience? Unlikely. Game reviewers should only spend a couple of hours and go yay or nay

Part of the core? He is Giantbomb.

Ever heard of the saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover"?

I can think of plenty of times I changed my mind on a game for better or worse after spending more time on it.

Twenty minutes in and they are still on the tarmac lol. I love these quicklooks/flight clubs. Makes you appreciate how crazy the controls are in the flying machines.

There are several games (like FFXIII) which have an incredibly long tutorial. Others have iffy parts in the middle that extend to the rest of the game. Some lack variety. Some have endings that ruin the game for some (thinking ME3 here, though I don't know because I don't have it). All of these would not be covered/reflected by a short time spent reviewing. I could agree with that for arcade-style games, though.

I would probably get Rainbow Moon if I had a PS3 based on that quick look (thought I'd wait for a sale).

NCAA Quick Look was awesome. Jeff/Vinny combo is a powerful comedic force. I'm just glad they skipped by my alma mater.

Its one of my favorite quick looks this year.

"Oh man, it's a terrible NEW MEXICO SNOWSTORM!"

"It's even snowing in our graphics package!"

Bwahahaha

lmao wow.

protip: game reviewers don't review the game just for you. in order to cast the widest net (i.e. - for the review to appeal and apply to the most people possible) it makes sense to get the most complete experience from the product. plenty of games are a slow burn that once you experience the pay-off, become a great overall experience.

this is like asking movie reviewers to base their write-up on the first 20 minutes of a film.

Vinny: What does LL stand for?

Drew: Ladies Love.

I love that Drew still tries to start these aircraft by memory after all these episodes. Once they finally pull out the notes, they realize that he wasn't even close and he missed like 7 or 8 crucial steps.

Watching this as someone who's spent some time with Black Shark 2, they missed some important steps even with the notes :P

You have to love video games! Vinny wants to punt it on 4th down and 30
but can't locate the special teams so goes for the Hail Mary, throwing it into triple coverage. Fucking touchdown.
Goes for the 2 point convert because, wtf not?
All this after the first 2min of the game that included 3 interceptions.

That moment is so much better after seeing the SNES TNT they did. He was making insane three point shots in a nba live game the whole time.

Flight Club's cool and all, but its game time to laughing time is pretty poor.

What i'm saying is, Random PC Game>Flight Club and Dwarf Fortress does not count as Random PC Game.

This DCS Black Shark 2 QL is so good. I wish Drew were able to able to explain what the things did as he was switching them on in the beginning, but after accidentally landing the helicopter, it's clear he's just not an ace Black Shark pilot yet. Is this the first non-subscriber Flight Club video?

Wasn't the A10-C one free too? Rise of flight and MS flight might also be regular QLs.
