....except for the part in one of the other films he tells random civilians to stop imitating Batman. The idea that "anyone can be Batman" by just putting on a suit is a terrible concept and totally undermines what makes Batman badass. It takes away a huge part of what made Batman Batman. It completely takes away the weight and responsibility of being a hero. Which has always been a pillar of what Batman is, no matter what medium he's being portrayed in.

If JGL can just put on that Batsuit and pick up where Batman left off then Bruce Wayne's entire journey was for nothing.

They were killing people
Thats a big no no

There is a difference between "the Batman" and "Batmans."

The Robin reference is not the first homage in the film

Remember the football player left standing?. His last name is Ward. Burt Ward is Robin in the 60's Batman show. Thats the first Robin reference.

Also I heard the snow in the fight scene is an homage to "Batman Returns" supossedly
Nolan is a big fan of that film.

This is exactly the type of in-depth, probing analysis I've come to expect from this crop of juniors.

I don't understand why Bale keeps saying dumb shit like "Batman could be anyone!" after he's just won the day by flying around in a hovercraft and blasting missiles at a truck. No, it's pretty clear that only a billionaire could be Batman.

Maybe he's talking more in terms of being a symbol?

I loved the movie, but I think the spine "healing" scene summed up a lot of the logic leaps/plot holes in this movie.

"First you need to fix your back. Your vertebrae are sticking out."

WHAM

"Okay, you're good to go, now just heal up."

Somehow, I think spinal rehab is a bit more precise than that. A number of things happen because they need to happen in this.
This was one of my biggest problems. In the first two films he was vulnerable and human, and at the beginning of TDK he sustains serious injuries from a dog.

In this one he's at full strength having had knees that were completely gone, and then heals near-miraculously a second time from a broken back. With no proper medical care and a few push-ups in a few weeks. It wasn't believable at all.

Really liked the movie, on par with the last one. Some goofy stuff, but those were easy to overlook. The first action set-piece was awesome, but some of the later ones weren't quite up to the standard of more action focused films.
Talia reveal was awesome, but i definitely wouldn't have known to appreciate it without playing Arkham City earlier and having some additional Bat-verse knowledge.

Movie should've cut to end with Caine's face.

Well it occurs over a period of months, the film simply doesn't do a good job of indicating so. How many weeks is it from his back breaking to the time he returns?

i'm so dumb about the remember aurora thing. i've been tweeting news about it all day -.-.

Anyway, did anyone laugh at the batman statue? it seemed so... out of place and weird looking :lol

Yeah, the portrayal of passage of time was pretty horrible. I had no idea how long it was until a good 20-30 minutes after the city is taken and Blake 3 months.

lol yeap 10 more meaningful minutes at the prison, to show how hard it should have been, because the easiness, from Bruce weakened Bane a loooot. I was spoiled and didn't realize, I was at the film website and I saw Jamie King as Talia, and still didn't see the plot twist coming...lol for a minute or two I though bane was a girl lol.
20 or 30 more minutes would have made this movie infinitely better if given in the right place. still great but...

For a second, the way the camera was focusing on that wierd thing, I thought it was going to wink to the audience, indicating that Bruce was alive and well. LOL!!!

The people of Gotham aren't being starved. Bane negotiated food and supplies to be brought in by the government. You actually see one of these shipments when the soldiers sneak into the city.

I kinda doubt that occasional supply drops are really keeping a city of millions fed, or that a ruling class of criminals would equally and fairly distribute this food. I meant more that people would be starved of everything -- as in, starved of basic infrastructure.....a functioning society (food, electricity, water, sewage, hospitals, fire departments, etc). Unless you believe that the people of Gotham would have continued doing their jobs during this citywide, the whole thing would have gone to shit in just under a week.

Look at how quickly our cities and societies go to shit once a natural disaster cuts off basic government support for even a few days.

It's a dislocated vertebrae, rather than a broken vertebrae. Also, it took 5 months for him to rehab from it, so it wasn't toooooooo bad.

edit:
I had originally posted this post here by mistake in this thread. Thread titles are getting confusing now. I was gonna delete this post from here but decided to have it here also in case anyone here might want to discuss my viewpoint.

So I have watched this now.
If you enjoyed Batman Begins for the journey it took us on to explore the character of Bruce Wayne, you will not be disappointed.

It is undeniable that this is the most complete and most grand scale film Nolan has worked on, so far in his career. And the sheer level of fidelity in terms of visual splendour means Pfister is just as much responsible for this film as Nolan was. This was a gorgeous film.
I honestly believe that this is Nolan's best film, and I honestly don't think he will ever be able to top this. Sure you can say that you like TDK or BB begins more, but there is absolutely no denying that this one is the better work out of the three as a whole. This was the first Nolan film to have an actually good final act. Unlike TDK for instance, where you get a sense of detachment the moment the film gets to the Boat scene, TDKR provides a constant reason to be engrossed. This also had what I felt to be an appropriate run time to finish off such a great story. Absolutely great.
There is a huge array of characters, and all of them are handled well. The good ones get the right amount of screen time, the not so good ones are pushed back to the background. But the focus on Bruce Wayne as a character, was absolutely the best part here. The character of Batman starts to mean so much to the city and the world. You watch Bruce stand up get put down and rise again as something more than he previously was. What a way to explore a character.
There were so many great moments here. The only way it could have ended.
And yes, this is by far the best superhero film out there, and one of the best films to come out in recent years.
You can enjoy other Batman or other superhero flicks more for other reasons. But there is absolutely no denying that this is the most grandiose, well realised superhero adaptation to date.

When he screamed "WHERES THE DETONATOR?!" i fuckin lost it, he held so well int the movie thus far and i didn't expect it, i was the only one laughing.

Yeah I am liking it more thinking back on it now. Begins grew on me, TDK was instantly mind blowing gotta-go-see-again-right-now awesomeness, but TDKR is a slow burn, a very good film with some quirks. I did not feel like rewatching it immediately afterward, but it's been a day and now I want to see it again.

Bane punching Bruce's face repeatedly until his mask cracked legitimately shocked me at how brutal it was. That fight is definitely my favorite scene in the entire series...ALTHOUGH i thought Bane breaking Bruce's back deserved to be more drawn out I felt.

I loved that, that even someone like Batman can just totally lose his mind and cool in desperation humanizes him to me.

Before it was all said and done.. when batman took the bomb to the ocean

Did anyone believe he was dead?

I did :(

Hell yeah, I did

then fan service ending. Batman actually fixed the auto-pilot and just didn't tell any of his loved ones, so he can make an epic escape and fuck Catwoman for the rest of his days.

Haha yeah I loved that..got a serious Jack Bauer vibe.

I did as well.

Thought it really was going to be the END of the trilogy because of all the media hype stating it as such

Wait is the thread title supposed to be some sort of sick joke?

i don't get it.
