I'm a bit miffed at the scene where Bruce finds out Rachel did in fact choose dent....was Alfred right to do that ? gives impression alfred was wrong and that batman WAS needed.

It's the accent. I know they were going for a voice that people would remember, but it just doesn't work.
 
I just remembered, Thomas Lennon playing the doctor was pretty random. I wonder how exactly that casting came about.

When "Miranda" didn't turn on them during the boardroom or early reactor scenes, that convinced me she wasn't going to be revealed as a baddie. I didn't think Talia would make an appearance...I loved the reveal.

Nolan slipped in a lot of his The Prestige/Memento trickery into this one.

Yeah I heard about her being Talia then I heard that that wasn't true so I was confused. So it was still a nice surprise to me in the end. Also the movie pulled off the misdirection very well.
 
I thought it was pretty obvious she was Talia all the way through, the twist in the tale that I liked was how they took Banes origins from the Comics and made that hers instead. Didn't see that coming.

It was up and down for me. I thought he sounded absolutely terrifying and powerful during the Batman Beatdown and explaining how he was going to make Wayne suffer, but in other parts, he was a little too "tinny" and jovial, as someone else said.

Incredible movie.

The Nolan Batman trilogy will stand the test of time. Note quite SW or LOTR, but one of the finest pieces of modern filmmaking in my opinion.

He was wrong to withhold the letter in the first place. But telling him about it was definitely what he needed to hear.

The entire trilogy makes it a point to focus on the emotion of the Alfred - Bruce relationship and Alfred as a father figure. At that point he just wanted to save Bruce from what he thought was an inevitable death more than he cared what happened to Gotham.

I think the scary thing about Bane is that not only is he physcially intimidating but he seems to be increbily intellegent. I would say almost intellectual in his motovations.

Rarely are these 2 traits paired in villans.

I want to say it was needed. Bruce's only real motivation was because of rachel, how he loved her and how it drove him to do good, breaking that idea that they would have been together takes away the last thing bruce had tying him to the world, he has nothing to lose if Rachel isn't his main motivation, Alfred was hoping with rachel not wanting him he'd stop and could choose a new life.

and man, caine made me tear up this film. :(.

I kind of think that would have been in bad taste. I don't think Ledger should own the Joker role forever, but the idea of recreating a recently dead actor with CG so he can be used in a movie sequel is kind of a skin-crawling notion to me.

I did, though I figured it was also kind of a way to shoehorn in Neeson for a cameo.

Regarding if Ra's was the main villain... I don't really think so, especially with both Bane and eventually Miranda/Talia's ties to the League of Shadows. Talia shares much of her father's beliefs so it'd be fitting that she'd be a part of this.

They did it to Oliver Reed in Gladiator, the guy was only dead a few weeks and they were CGI'ing him into shots to get the thing finished without recasting and reshooting.
 
Talia was not what I expected her to look like. I was expecting some sexy super model like in the cartoon/comics. But I figured if Bruce Wayne slept with anyone it was going to be Catwoman or Talia. It crossed my mind at the fireplace scene but I kind of tried not to think about it.

Its part of the theme of even good people make bad mistakes, Gordon, Alfred, even Bruce/ Batman for taking the fall for dent in the first place.
 
I was nearly hollering in the cinema when Bats was on his pod chasing the bikes in darkness. fucking insane.

although it was excellent batman was hardly in his own movie tbh.

That's what got me. I thought "I guess Talia's not in this because in this movie Bane is the child of Ra's and not her."
 
Solid conclusion to Nolans' saga but the weakest entry in the trilogy. Its just too hard for a villian to follow Ledger's Joker. However I did enjoy Bane's first fight and his speech to Gotham in front of the prison.

What I didn't like was how Bane went out so abrubtly. Anti-climatic really.

I hope when WB reboots in 3-5 years they find a happy medium between Nolan's " gritty realism" and something more comic booky. Actually, Batman Begins was the perfect balance. Hope they head back more in that direction.

Whenever I see "hey, it's that guy!" casting in movies, I like to think that the fictional universes they were previously a part of are somehow connected.

Therefore, The Wire and The State both somehow exist in the Batman universe now!

Just got back from the theater. Question about the ending: If I remember correctly, didn't one of the characters say the bomb had a blast radius of like 60 miles? So if that's true, does that mean Batman carried the bomb at least 60 miles (the shot of the bomb going off made it look like was pretty fucking far..)in 2 minutes?

That was a few shots of him turning his back, not a fully recreated performance in a seperate film. There was also some tasteful stuff done with The Crow when Brandon Lee died, again it was little things in pick up shots, not turning a dead person into some kind of digital muppet.

my brother said the same thing about Bane but really Batman had defeated him if it wasn't for Talia.

Was the cop in the car the same cop that was transporting Harvey dent from the last film?

What was it the cops said in the car? They get to join the ranks of "IS THAT A BAZOOKA?" and "HES FLYING ON ROOFTOPS!"

Also, the fat cop whose hat gets blown off was hilarious. Its a full 3-4 seconds of his reaction to the Batwing.

With him dead and Bane sending 2 men to kill gordon, bane had it all wrapped up, mayor and commissioner are dead, and he even read Gordon's speech thinking / assuming he'd be dead so no one would give a shit.

Ahh this film man, this fuckin film. :D.
 
also something OT but JESUS fucking Christ was The hobbit trailer TERRIBAD.... smh Jackson....looks so bad. and all the actors are old, and ..... :(
