Is 180 really good?
Who is this Gitesh Pandya and how accurate are they usually? 80 on Friday sounds more like it's gunning for 200 than 180, but maybe I'm just being silly
Of all the weekends, this is really tricky to extrapolate. Cant call 180M on Fri alone.Midnights: 30.64 Million

For reference. 180 Million for a 2D film means 220 Million for a 3D movie
I knew 3D tax could make a difference in a movie's box office, but I didn't know it was that big. Damn.
Fuck principles, I would 3D convert all my movies! I got kids to feed!

Can someone take out the Aurora reference in the other thread? It seems very distasteful to me...
It depends on the % of 3D tickets too.
For example, if the 3D surcharge is +33% on average ($12 for normal ticket, $16 for 3D) and roughly 50% of the tickets were 3D tickets (as was in the case of The Avengers) then $180m * (1 + 0.5*0.33333333) = $210m.
Aurora? What is that?
Aurora? What is that?
That's still a $30M gain. I can see why GI Joe 2 was delayed now. Well, besides the test screenings going VERY poorly.

don't cross the threads.
$3+ extra for every ticketWow. That 3D mark-up is just nut bustingly massive for Hollywood.

great films + as BOM put it Batman is the most popular character in American culture.I just read about the shooting and... in general, the hype for this film is so very unusual...it feels like when the next batch of star wars films arrvied but I didn't know batman had that kind fo cult-mass-hysteria fans
why is the hype so high for this? can someone sumarrize? I hadn't been following anything about this film until I read about the massacre.
