Sucks that they didn't give Bane a final scene. He just sort of got hit and left there to rot. Then I realize he wasn't even the brains of the operation. Forever a guard! Hardy was amazing as him though.

Just got back from seeing this at the drive in. Thought it was pretty good but Bane's mask didn't make any sense other than acting as a ridiculously transparent way to Darth vader-ify him. Also the prison scenes were a bore. Of course he's going to fucking get out.

Man Bane sucked. Reading previews and interviews there was a lot said about how just viciously brutal he would be but he was not that. And his voice is even sillier than Batman's. By far the weakest villain in the trilogy imho.

The sewer fight is the best scene in the trilogy.

Movie was excellent. I still think Dark Knight is better but it's a solid third film and very consistent with the other two movies.

Now a couple of thoughts:
I suspected JGL was Robin a few minutes into the film.
I knew Talia was doing some dirt but I had forgotten Ra's had a daughter.
Loved the Alfred scenes but Michael Cane is a terrible cryer. Him getting misty eyed during the scene where he's leaving was fine but the crying at the funeral was bad.
Tom Hardy seemed to have a lot of fun as Bane. Loved his speech when he took over the city. He really gave it his all during that scene and was chilling.
Scarecrow showing up as the judge was a nice surprise, wasn't expecting that at all. So besides the main cast he's the only one that shows up in all three films. Neat.
I have to be honest and say I was never a fan of the vehicle designs in these movies. The "Bat" is no different. I didnt lie it. For a man who's main tactic is stealthy and shadows, he rolls around in bulky ass tanks which seems weird. Before you say it, yes I do realize the vehicles were originally designed by Fox for the military.

I don't know why but I was happy that the mayor got axed
Guyliner bugs me in everything he's in. I never trust him.

It only just hit me how much TDKR informs Ras' backstory. Not just about him talking about his great love, but his whole mentality about having the will to act.

Your parents' death was not your fault. It was your fathers'. Anger does not change the fact that your father failed to act!

He's talking about himself. :( Ras failed to act to save his wife and child.

dat poetry

Some puzzling questions:

What in the high fallutin heavens was the blood transfusion for from poor Dr. Pavel to the "iced" (asleep? dead?) man in the body bag during the escape from the plane at the start? [/B]The film never returns to that incident or mentions it again. Odd is the least to describe it. Perhaps it was venom related?

Regarding Dr. Pavel, why did he so willingly and idiotically collaborate with Bane? No reason was ever given, and his quick end precluded any further discussion.

Is the US military and intelligence apparatus so incompetent as to unable to penetrate and take over such a small island, especially with its overwhelming cybernetic, satellite, and aerial power at hand ( a la the Bat VTOL)? Not to mention having the jamming technology to prevent the bomb from going off in the first place (Lucius Fox cannot be the only one who can build and operate that device! )

Bane makes The Dark Knight's villain look like a clown.

Also, shame the movie had a couple unnecessary elements at the end. Could've been a much nicer package.

By far? F*cking kidding me?

Dude whats with this hyperbole reaction people are all about, salty. Like my girl when she's "bloated"

IMO Bane lacks a personality that parallels Batman. Ra's has the whole student-mentor thing. Scarecrow encompasses fear. Two-Face is 1/2 friend, 1/2 evil. The Joker is Batmans exact opposite.

Then you have Bane. He is literally just physically stronger and thus is the only man to "break the bat". It's a cool title but he's just the ultimate goon really. Atleast Talia was the daughter of Ra.

Does anyone find it ironic that after everything Bane did... He didn't mind his surroundings and it cost him his life? lol

So according to Slashfilm they sent out two different Man of Steel trailers. Did anyone get the Russell Crowe voice over version? Our theater had the Costner one.

He had a final scene...

"You will just have to imagine the fire!" And then takes a propelled grenade (or two) to the chest... it was an extremely fitting way to do away with him if you ask me. I don't know why anyone would want a character like Bane to go out as he lies on the ground whispering sweet nothings to Talia or something.

I got the Crowe one.

So good. Crowe brings that Maximus Decimus Meridius swagger.

I think a nice touch I caught was when Catwoman went to put up her goggles after she blew up the blockade in front of the bridge, the goggle lenses were red. Anyone else catch this?

What? So, I appreciate the little things. We cant all talk about big things like the ending.

to make the cia think he's dead maybe?

No thanks, I'd rather have a movie that make sense please

I hate when movies leave holes in the plot but really dude? Your not asking for a movie to make sense you are asking someone to chew your food for you. How hard is it to imagine she asked around for the mercenarys whereabouts?

I think they were giving the dead body the Dr.'s blood to make it look like him.

Fear of death? Too bad it ended in death. :'(

The US military doesn't have bad ass tumblers or VTOLs either. Should have paid Wayne Ent. for those sweet toys.

Btw, where the heck was that cave? Didn't look anywhere near America, but sure seemed like Bane was able to casually drop Bruce off there. And once he got out how did he make it back to Gotham? But then again this is the part where the movie skips ahead 5 months without any warning.

It's really just a big stretch of believability more than being nonsensical. Maybe her mother gave her clues on how to find him. Who knows. All that matters is that we are told she did find him. It was a problem my brother had as well, didn't bother me really.

Does it really seem impossible that she could find her father?

The movie doesn't need to explain everything in great detail.

She never met him before. He left before she was born. He didn't even know she was born in the dungeon.

He wasn't even Ras al Ghul back then, just a mercenary. So she doesn't know anything about him.

So how is a basically nameless 6 year old who escaped a dungeon in a random foreign country supposed to find someone she has never met or knows nothing about?

At what point did he give up the mantle of batman because he was "too old for this shit"? There were clearly very different reasons for his self-imposed exile. When you're fabricating characters' motivations it shouldn't be a surprise when they don't make sense.

He's TOFTS at the end of TDKR.

I get it's not his only reason for stopping, but when you have Bruce Wayne -- the Batman; the man that started it all; the man that swore he'd dedicate his life to fighting injustice, no matter the cost -- throw in the towel after only ~2 years of active Bat-duty... It really cheapens Bruce as a character, in my eyes.

If it was shown that during those 8 years, only Bruce Wayne turned into a recluse and that Batman was still active, I'd have no problem with it.

Her mother told her?

I know, this is imagination too

Scarecrow was used much better in this cameo than he was in TDK. He doesn't do much, but I felt it was more memorable of a cameo.

People still go to the drive-in?! :o

Sitting on a subwoofer on a beautiful night is a great way to see an action movie and more people should get out there and support the ones that do still exist.

I wanted to add that the plot of this film completely makes the second film irrelevant. Aside from Dent there is no connection to that movie. Not that I'm complaining. I'm glad e got a real sequel to the superior Batman begins story.

I think that was to fake Pavels death? The blood would be tested and Pavel's death would be believed?

Regarding Dr. Pavel, why did he so willingly and idiotically collaborate with Bane? No reason was ever given, and his quick end precluded any further discussion.

They threatened his family. Bane explicitly mentions this in the football stadium or reactor room. I forget which.

Bane threatens detonation of the bomb id anything is done, the military are paralysed. Also, no-one even knows the device exists! It was built in secret by Wayne Enterprises.

Yes he does break him physically and mentally.

In the end, he decides to stay as Batman for as long as he can. It's implied he's going to search for a partner so he doesn't have to protect Gotham alone for the rest of his life. It ends with everyone in the city cheering when the Bat signal is turned on (quite the change of tone for a Batman film) and he is on top of a building for a few seconds then swoops down. Credits.

How is this liar not banned yet?

Bodies get very pulpy in plane crash, identified by DNA. Pavel's DNA was in the corpse through transfusion. Other guy got left because they expected one prisoner to be on board.

He is a coward. He thought he would live- there is a line about his children, right? I presume he was promised he couldgo home.

They believed the threats. The immediate danger of anarchy was less than the threat of the nuke, so take it slow and hope something can happen. They did send in agents, as you recall, with the intent of taking the bomb down.

Pavel's wife and child were threatened. So he cooperated

That's one of the inconsistencies between BB and TDK that they actually rectified in TDKR.

Lucius takes this big job in Begins and is back in the secret workshop for TDK. Didn't people wonder where he was?

What? Fox has "the big job" in TDK too. He's still the head of the company, the one doing the negotiations with the Chinese dude. He just also is still secretly making new stuff for Bruce, in both TDK and TDKR.
