This has TERRIBLE handling of exposition, and the pacing is not much better. You can really feel how it was a much longer script that was condensed in too much of a rush.
But you know, it was fun. I felt like Nolan was less ashamed to make a cheesy, fun comic book movie this time around, and I appreciated that.

Holy shit @ dat first Batman/Bane fight.
What really got me were the screams of anguish and desperation of Bruce as he was fighting, knowing he was losing. I felt awful watching it, and was absolutely ecstatic when Bane got his ass handed to him at the climax.
And LOL at the way he just got blasted by Selina. Absolutely perfect.

Normally? It's the best possible experience. Your seat is basically a subwoofer and the speakers are on full blast. It is wonderful for those times you have chatterboxes in the theater, you can barely hear anybody right next to you.

To me that was a double-edged sword. The more comic booky elements didn't completely gel with the realism. I love Catwoman and the Bat but Bane I could not take seriously. He seemed more laugh inducing than fear inspiring even in the wake of his brutal actions. TDK strikes a better balance in that department with The Joker. Damn it I hate being one of "those" people.
Yeah not everyone can marathon three 2.5 long movies, go to sleep at 4 am, wake up at 7 still drunk and go to work. Some people have a life :/.

So on the more lighthearted side of nitpicking, seriously, how did like four shots of Batman derp face make it through editing? I thought it was funny the first time, like someone just didn't catch it, but then they go on to have multiple additional shots of him looking like he's high on painkillers. Something serious is happening and Batman is staring at it with glassy eyes, a tilted head, and an open mouth

I thought Bane was awesome until Nolan decided to make him a kitten towards the end.
I thought it was a good way to tie the two previous films together with the Ra's al Ghul hook but it doesn't feel like a trilogy at all as to me at least in my mind the Joker was mean't to be in this 3rd film.
It's a shame that Heath Ledger died as I think he and Bane in the mix it could have been an amazing tag-team but more importantly I think story outside of it's ties back to Ra's al Ghul the story/narrative would have been a lot better.
Ah well...

It was very fantastical, but they did a blood transfusion on the plane. I'm assuming when they found the unidentified body it would match the doctor's. I could be wrong on the greater scheme, but that's how I interpreted it.

Bane was awesome in the beginning and then he just...didn't...go....anywhere. I kept waiting for the potential of this great character to be realized.
They go back in time to the turn of the century and become magicians assistants...

I have now decided who I want to write the next Batman. Neil Cross. His entire writing career has revolved around gritty detectives who are brilliant and kick ass. I think we found someone who can handle the character.
Bane and The Joker may have had the same goal (burning Gotham to the ground) but I doubt they would have gotten along at all.

so everyone would think the doctor died in the crash. They even had a scene where some government guys said he was confirmed dead in that crash when Bane showed him off at the stadium.
what more could he have done? Their master plan was executed flawlessly up to the point that bruce returned from the pit, and they still figured they could blow up the bomb at any point. Maybe if Talia didn't have to do the cliche villian speech, the bomb would have gone off. I actually liked how catwoman just rolled in and blew Bane away too.
Email him. Force him to write some comic books first.

Oh yeah, why is Batman the Worlds Greatest Detective again? He does a fair amount of investigation and evidence gathering in the first two movies (although not a whole lot I'll concede) but in this one its like he puts on the suit for one interrogation and a couple of fist fights.
I got that vibe too, especially when they were looting that house or something and her blonde roommate came up and hugged her from behind and IIRC started kissing her neck
Yep, they mention him being dead at different times in the movie.

That's one that I did pick up on, but only because in the beginning I was like "why are they doing a blood transfusion?" and I was constantly on the lookout for where it would be relevant.
That's one of the side effects of my major issue. The 8 year shut in with a sudden extreme terrorist attack causes batman to barely do anything detective. Not enough time in the Batsuit at all.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the goals The League tried to accomplish. Please help me fill in blanks, because from where I'm standing nothing makes sense.
- Cut off the island from the rest of the world through brute force and fear
- Miraculously trap 3000 policemen all in unescapable sewers to remove law and order from the streets
- Then tell the citizens they have nothing to fear except perhaps the neutron bomb that some random lucky Gothamyte has the detonator of
- Then tell them about Dent to "shock and awe" and tell them the 1000 murderers, rapists and whatnot in Blackgate are just poor unfortunate souls, releasing them immediately and supply them with guns
- Then just let the people have their way in looting, plundering. Rich people get sentenced to death mostly for being wealthy and not sharing [what's the point here?]
- then after 5 months the neutron bomb detonates and everyone dies
- Talia, Bane and the entire League remain in Gotham and will perish with the rest, making this a suicide mission
So how does this make sense? It seems like an extremely complex plan for no other reason than to be a dick towards Batman. Bane literally says "I will give Gotham false hope, then take it away" and even sets him up with a nice cable tv in "the worst hell on earth" [HUGE quotation marks there, if that place is hell on earth I don't know what earth they're on].
In theory "give hope, take it away" a nice plan to break hearts and minds, but taking something away by detonating an atomic bomb kind of renders the point you're trying to make mute, doesn't it? What is the point of having 5 months of martial law where most people just sit in their home watching tv? I mean, there was no sense of dread or terror whatsoever. There was food, electricity, cable tv.
The entire second half of the movie I was just constantly thinking "what the hell is going on here?". Am I missing some essential plot point?

So being a Nolan Batman movie, I'm guessing some people here have already chosen their favourite lines.

I actually hated that bit, felt too abrupt and unearned.
Eh, the plot of this film didn't require him to do any detective work for the most part. He was still closer to the current comic version of Batman in this film than any of the prior. His dialog as Bruce early in the film in the Batcave was contrasting him in the prior films.
