That line was great too, it's just too bad it was said during a time where you couldn't really soak it in. It being said in Batman voice also hampered it's impact.

You know, it would have been a really cool touch if Bruce had spoken that final line not as Batman, but as Bruce Wayne. The real Bruce Wayne, not faux Billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne. Would have been a nice bit of catharsis for me to show that Bruce no longer needs Batman.

If they were to reboot Batman entirely (ignoring JGL etc.), who would be your pick? Fassbender? I'm curious to hear people's ideas

Blake's ending is so much better once you truly get what Gordon meant to Bruce.

All it takes is one man putting a coat onto a small child for comfort, to convince him that the it's not the end of the world.

Which is basically what Blake is doing with that bus at the end. He is the best of Bruce and Gordon. Gotham is in good hands.

Damn man, that is very nice.

Also, who would have thought that, when taken literally, the film's title refers to JGL's character, and not Bale's?

Well, he did rise out of the pit and rise into the sunset with the bomb.

But yea, the way Nolan slyly made this a Batman 2.0 origin story is phenomenal. The biggest twist in the whole thing.

For Batman? You need to pick someone relatively unknown. Like Bale was when he was chosen, or like Daniel Craig was when he was chosen for Bond. They were established actors, but neither had made it even close to being stars beforehand. You need to find someone like that.

I honestly am not against JGL. He doesn't really have the build for it, but that can be worked on.

Correction... He would be Nightwing. >.>

The public doesn't care about Nightwing though. Just like there'd never be a standalone Robin movie that anyone would care about.

lol @ the guy in the comments who thinks the ending shot of Bruce in the cafe was a dream of Alfred's. I really hope that guy is trolling

There are multiple people in this thread who think the same thing. There's no reason for that to be the case with all the other tells that Nolan gives the audience (Fox and Gordon specifically).

"Ooooh, you think darkness is your ally? You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it. Molded by it."
Man, I don't know what people are talking about when they say Bane wasn't a good villain (maybe in comparison to The Joker).
That whole scene was scary dude and Bane not giving a fuck about everything that was thrown at him was great. And he was trapped down there, jesus.
I haven't seen a protagonist get such a one-sided beating like that in quite some time.

Fassbender would be good, although I can't really think of many other great candidates...

Can't disagree. Get on dem Protein shakes Joseph.

Tom Hardy beefed up crazy amounts to play Bane. Even Bale's weight flucuates unbelievable amounts. I also agree it has to be a relatively unknown actor to play Batman (not counting JGL)

Obviously Shia LeBouf would be the number one candidate with Michael Bay directing. Can you imagine that horror?

I am trying not to. Kim Khardashian to play Catwoman confirmed.

Talking about awesome quote, I'm so disappointed that in the whole trilogy there's not a single "This is my city" from Batman. Missed opportunity total.

Its kind of tragic that Gordon finds out his superfriend is Bruce Wayne only in time to never speak to him again :_(

The prologue makes for such great foreshadowing now.

No matter what you think, Bane has the upper hand. He dismantles that plane almost as well as he does Bruce's life.

Super leg brace technology for every limb.

When you think about it, Bruce's Batsuit is 8 years old at that point. I'm sure Lucius could make something better.

I would have hoped he had put together Bane buster suit in the beginning, only for Bane to thrash it and then have him don the TDK suit for the final fight.

But it's okay, the toy companies just made different suits for Batman anyways.

I read earlier in either this thread or its non-spoiler cousin that the movie would have been better if it ended on the Afred-Wayne scene. I completely agree.

For real make the next movie about Blake and how all the freaks start coming out now that Batman is dead.
I just don't see it. I mean, they could, but the implied thing is, Batman will always have these stories and they will always end this way. It's a circular The Wire type ending.

The point of this trilogy is that isn't Bruce's city. It is a symbol of his past, a residence for all of his demons that he needed to conquer. And in the end, he realized that letting go was the necessary decision for his personal arc.

It was never truly about protecting Gotham, imo.

I don't know. The ending of the movie fits the title perfectly. Plus I love the music accompanying that six or seven seconds.

So i just realized we don't know anything about bane's past, he wasn't born in the prison, he didn't climb outta the pit so we really know nothing about him.

He was born in the pit, no? He just wasn't the one who climbed out.

I understood it as him being born there, realizing what a hard life it is, and protecting Talia from the same things he suffered through. Then she comes back and gets him out.

Who is to say he wasn't born in there? All we know is all we really need to know - born there or not, Bane was in that prison and risked his life to protect Talia, and was gravely crippled in doing so.

That is 100% exactly the point, beautifully stated by Bane himself.

" No one knew who I was before I put on the mask."

Also fairly true of Bruce, from some perspectives in the series.

I think Bane considers himself born once R'as rescues him from the pit, or when he helps Talia escape. Nobody cared who he was before he put on the mask, etc...

So in a sense, I don't think he was being dishonest.

EDIT: Damn you Speeding
