Maybe someone who knows the comics can better answer this, but is jgl supposed to be robin and the next batman? That's the impression I got.

Gordon will be SO disappointed when he turns the Bat symbol back on.

*Batman arrives*
Gordon: Bruce Wayne, fuck what you said, I am finally saying "thank you!"
Blake: uhhhhhh.......

:lol

I'm sure Bruce left detailed files for Blake on how to handle Gordon, cop extras, and a kid who still has his expensive binoculars.

They talk about everything that happened as a result of The Joker's reign of terror on Gotham, but never bring up the guy who changed things. I'm not saying we needed it as fan service or anything or wink and a nod, but a simple line from the lead cop guy during the opening like "And we haven't had one incident like that Joker clown since that night".

I mean, Raz tried to blow up the city (though did anyone other than Batman know this was happening?) and scarecrow released the gas and cause a panic in the streets. Pretty big deal yeah. But The Joker killed off several city politicians and publicly threatened the city and blow up stuff on a daily basis. He had a much bigger impact on the city than Ras.

But every time they talk about that night, it's in reference to Dent. I suppose it's odd that the city seemed to be more interested in his death than all the people Joker killed. But, you couldn't have the Joker Act.

That kid has to be a teenager by now.. its been.. something like 9 years!

Speaking of, minor thing but I was wondering how old Talia/Bane were. I mean if we assume the League stuff took place around the same time the Waynes were murdered.. Bane has to be in like his late 40s... not sure why it's something I've been thinking of

The film is so much more cohesive on rewatch. Bruce's time in the pit is just the greatest. The third time he goes for, it is just so much, fuck, HE EARNED THIS. Fuck how he got back to Gotham, he earned it.

FEEL THE FIRE, BANE

I got the feeling Bane was a lot older than Bruce and Talia. Like 10-15 years older.

If Bruce is in his late 30s-early 40s, I'd peg Bane in his mid 50s.

But only one that makes sense. Search your heart, you know it to be true :)

i really do love the way gordon reacts to that. absolute joy.

I can't get over how many of these glaringly obvious things people are missing and/or want to debate :_(

by the way, it is worthy of debate. what else is this thread for? talking about how hot cotillard is? cause, yeah... we all agree on that one.

Like I said, the hand-holding all makes sense now.

ew.

Exactly. The Robin line was Nolan trolling, nothing more.
More fan service than trolling. His character fits many aspects of Robin and I believe it's his take on Robin.

But since the city has a statue of Batman and since Bruce says anyone could be Batman, he'd become the next Batman. Not Robin. Makes no sense to be Robin, especially since it's his real name,

I wonder how much Alfred would have geeked out if he got to see Bane during his Super Bane moment at the end.

THAT SPEED! POWER!

I'm blown away by how much bootlegged stuff is getting posted on YT right now.

I mean I know that WB is tragically involved with other things this weekend (and monitoring the internet is now the least of their concern) but this seems excessive.

I'm not sure Blake knows Bruce is alive, just that he gave him s much in his will, but Gordon and everyone else definitely knows.

"I see you haven't lost your sense of humor....even though you have lost half of my money." - Bruce Wayne, greatest dickhead.

Also, Bruce Wayne with bow and arrow.

YEAR OF THE BOW CONTINUES.

I KNOW, RIGHT? That was awesome. "Hey kids, would you like to hear how I met your mother? Well, I was a recluse for eight years and she broke in posing as a sexy maid..."

-Atom bomb gonna assplode in less than two minutes, but lemme hold on and kiss catwoman.

Don't kid yourself, you'd do it too.

Michael Fassbender should be the next Bruce Wayne/Batman.

I'm okay with that.

Yep. His smile was basically saying "you magnificent bastard!"

I know, I loved that.

I know it won't happen, but I'd love to see where Blake goes from here. Lucius and Gordon are still in Gotham. Alfred and Bruce are at peace. LoS is dead and gone, do the freaks arise again? So open-ended.

I love how the 'The Dark Knight Rises' logo come on as the literal platform with Batman's successor rose.

Would falling from that distance with a rope tied around your waist kill you? I grimaced pretty when he fell both times.

Same here. That looked fucking painful.

It would most certainly fucking wreck your shit. Bit o' movie magic there. In reality I'd wager you'd break most of your ribs and then crack your skull open when hitting the wall.

Blake's ending is so much better once you truly get what Gordon meant to Bruce.

All it takes is one man putting a coat onto a small child for comfort, to convince him that the it's not the end of the world.

Which is basically what Blake is doing with that bus at the end. He is the best of Bruce and Gordon. Gotham is in good hands.

Yeah, the first time they showed it I assumed it was death for that guy.

One thing that threw me off - Catwoman betrays Batman by giving him to Bane, and when Batman reappears on the island, he goes to her and trusts her all over again. Only because he has pretty much no other choice?

How do we know that Alfred didn't mastermind this to finally get Bruce to realize he had to "leave rap alone, the game didn't need him"?

After all, he convienently had a falling out just before the shit hit the fan and left Gotham...or did he?

Maybe he took the rooftops and kept his eye on the Bat.

Just think of the hell it played on his back, which not long ago had a dislodged vertebrae forcibly pushed back into line in a dingy cell.

There was more to her.

I really do like the idea of doing Batman Beyond. And yes, JGL's Blake could be the "Terry". Problem arises though of how do you cast old Bats? Bale is done, so who do you look to? Bring back Keaton or something wild like that, or find someone new?

I have a feeling that in the next months or year or so, Nolan will clarify where he was taking the plot kinda like how JK Rowling did the same thing with Harry Potter.
Maybe he will tell us that Alfred was gay all along too!

Well he did that detective work on her and said she is either in too deep or something. He saw she wasn't evil.

Then when she turned him over, she said she did it so she wouldn't be killed.

He understands why she did it, and he's offering her the same thing, but also a chance at redemption (don't leave and fuck this city over). He knows she is someone who will do anything to be redeem for whatever she's done in her past, and thus, can be trusted to do the right thing when it's necessary above all else.

True this. Blake telling Bruce about his upbringing as an orphan and how he learned to cover up his anger sold him. He knew there was no one better to carry the mantle.

That line was great too, it's just too bad it was said during a time where you couldn't really soak it in. It being said in Batman voice also hampered it's impact.
