I certainly like it more than either Star Wars trilogy. But I think ESB was the only one that was great.

Does anyone think the Batman trilogy will be considered movie classics? I kinda fell into an argument with my friend over their legitimacy.

The first thing I did was sit down in a packed crowd and realized there would be no where to run if shit happens as its so packed even on 12:30pm in the afternoon. Then I scanned for exit doors and realized there is no exit door in IMAX room so no one is entering from backdoor.
Yeah, it was in my head in the beginning.
TDK already is a modern classic.
Physical beating? Superman got his shit handed to him in SR, but then he was a soulless robot so there was no emotional beating there.
You can't judge that in the now. If we're still talking about them in 5 years, 10 years, etc. then yes, they will have become classics.
It's a really minor nitpick in all honesty.
Dude could have prepare some emergency bank account or some set up just in case, how he got there I never thought was such a big deal. Because he's the god damn Batman.
Now that the trilogy is over, what are we gonna do for our horrible fanart poster fix?

I am talking about the cummulative physical toll being Batman has taken and yes, the particular beating he got at the hands of Bane. No one snapped Supes over their knee !

I know Solo said that it would be awesome if he wore BB suit, but technically he did wear a spare suit i.e. from the abandoned underground lair in TDK. I really liked that touch that he had to go back there to get some weapons and the suit.
So I'm sure out of respect for Heath Ledger there was no mention of Joker, but everybody else from the previous films was either in this or referenced. Hell even Scarecrow. Joker wasn't killed, what did they end up doing with him? I thought there would at least be some reference when they broke the prisoners out of Blackgate.
In any case film was a masterpiece. I'm kind of sad that Nolan won't do anymore Batman films. Tom Hardy was amazing playing Bane and the scene they first fight, holy shit what a battle. So fucking brutal.
I was hoping that Batman would give him a more spectacular / fitting death, but I guess getting kerploded by Selina on the Bat Pod is a pretty gnarly way to go out.
Very surprised we didn't see him without the mask or no reference to venom.
9/10 for me, bring on the fucking blu-ray.

I thought about that too and it annoyed me.
I decided that, like Talia, maybe Bane was born in the prison as well (obviously long before Talia) but unlike Talia he didn't escape by making the climb.
Maybe that's why Bane protected Talia, sympothy for another child born there like he was?

Yeah but that took him years right? And he wasn't just appearing in basically a closed off warzone of a city.
Nolan said that out of respect of Ledger, the Joker would not be brought up in DKR.
Just imagine he was taken somewhere far away to sulk.
I wasnt happy with how long Alfred and Bruce disappeared. I thought the treatment of Alfred in the movie was a little cruel actually.
I think that's pretty crazy. I don't think any of the Batman movies hold up on repeat viewings.
I definitely think that after the next round of Batman movies people will probably be more open to criticism of the Nolan Batman movies. TDK is the only one that elevates itself above its source material. I would actually make the point that TDK, for being a comic book movie, is hardly a comic book movie as its established. And I mean that in the most complimentary manner I can give it.
I also don't see how anyone could put this over the original Star Wars trilogy. For being an original movie production it certainly shaped an entire generation of geek culture and will have an impact on history.
You should have trolled us with "Why the fuck is Bale so thin in this movie?!"

Remember, the prison in comic book is originally is in South America. They don't tell in the movie where it is so it's safe to assume he hitchhiked.

Yep. We saw him through the same eyes as Alfred did. Bruce had already lost that Bane fight from the beginning.
I saw it in a regular cinema, saw the Superman trailer.
It was garbage, you aren't missing anything.
He did look noticeably thin at the start. Im not sure what trickery was employed, but it worked. By the end he was straight up beasting again.

Welcome to the "Second Viewing Makes It Best of the Series" Club. I am in the EXACT page as you. Definitely better than TDK and BB. It had that Inception magic going on where the first half is story and second half is mindfuck action.
Speaking of which, the TDKR funeral scene totally made me think of Sherlock.

I know. I just accepted Bruce is a very resourceful person, with or without money. But yeah that could've been handled better
I wasn't comparing the two on their cultural impact. Nolan's films are already part of a well established franchise, so individually they could never have the impact that the Star Wars films could, and did have. That said, I enjoyed Nolan's trilogy far more than Star Wars.

Once all the weirdness and expectations are set aside, the 2nd viewing just blows you away. You're totally in sync with what the tone and feel of the movie is and you are there for the ride 100%.

What track on the soundtrack played during Bruce's climb out of the pit? When the prisoners were shouting Deshi Bashara (one of the best scenes in the whole trilogy).
Man, I loved that scene. I thought the whole time that Deshi Bashara was Bane's theme, but it's not at all... Bruce makes it his own kinda, I loved that.

Pretty much. It would be almost exactly the same. By the way, I have always felt Catwoman and Irene Adler are very similar anyway. Both like to steal, both like to live on the extreme side of life, get into trouble with the wrong crowd, have an on-and-off relationship with the protagonist, who also can't help but be attracted to the person
Fucking this! Star Wars episodes 1 - 3 were shit and tainted the franchise for me. Lucas should have left it at with episodes 4, 5 and 6. Nolan's Batman trilogy is one of my favorite movie triologies of all time. Better than Star Wars, better than LOTR.
But to each his own.
The sound mixing or whatever at navy pier was shit. The damn music was too intense and front-and-center. I really want to watch it again, mostly because the non IMAX shots looked so terrible.
Nola has be able to turn a superhero film into something else. This is one of my favorite trilogies. The third film isn't shit. Nolan did it!

I just don't see how they expect that to work without the buildup the Avengers had unless it can piggy back on the success of other franchises.
They'll not only have to use a new batman, but the batman from Nolan's universe doesn't really fit in such a group film.
Maybe Alfred flew him back to Gotham like he did in Begins.
Bruce has contacts and like Ra's said in Begins the world is too small for a man like Bruce Wayne to disappear in.
Plus even if it appeared in the movie that he got to Gotham instantly, it was actually closer to a month/20 days before he reached Gotham. I know they should've probably explained his return or added a few more shots to the movie to cement this but the explanation is most likely trivial.

By the way, I was in India in January this year, and that fort they showed Bruce in front of after the climb, I was there! It's a pretty awesome place.
