That is 100% exactly the point, beautifully stated by Bane himself.

" No one knew who I was before I put on the mask."

Also fairly true of Bruce, from some perspectives in the series.

I enjoy it! im glad that we don't know the past of bane (or the joker as said) it just makes the story better.

He was born in the pit, no? He just wasn't the one who climbed out.

I understood it as him being born there, realizing what a hard life it is, and protecting Talia from the same things he suffered through. Then she comes back and gets him out.

I didn't think he was, but i can understand now that he was born there and saw how awful it was, and helped talia.

No. It was Nolan's glorious misguiding of fortunate us who haven't been spoiled. I understood it as Ra's or Ra's employer's subordinate who was tasked with guarding Ra's lover when she was condemned into that prison after that his loyalty transferred to Talia. He can't be just someone because he was specifically fired from the League of Shadow later.

Saturday evening and still no Friday estimates? So are the studios just not going to release box office information in light of the shootings?

So what were these production pics leaked a while ago that ruined the Talia surprise?

I'm also in the camp that they shouldn't have showed Bruce and Selina at the end. In fact, I think it could have turned out even more orgasmic if they swapped the last two shots round, and it cuts to black just as Alfred starts to crack a smile

77 million is the # for now according to Deadline.

I think the shooting has had a pretty large effect, somewhere between 10-15%. With 30m midnights, it should have done at least 85m for the day

Couldn't he have been recruited from the pit, and then fired later? I am not sure what you're saying or how it contradicts what I said.

I'd give Batman at least a 10 year rest before any sort of reboot. It makes it that much more powerful, and this was a very good ending.

So..... how many of you have changed your alarm clock people chanting "Deshi Basara"?

Oh man, one of the so many cheesy scenes done right in this film. Got my heart pumping despite how corny they were.

"What does that mean?" "Rises" /Rise from the the prison.
"You've given them everything." Batman: "Not everything, Not yet."

You know, I'm still surprised how powerful a line "Then you have my permission to die." was in the film even after hearing it in like all the trailers.
Context definitely gave it strength.

Looks like the shooting is hurting TDKR and other movies. TDKR is soft today, and Ted and Spider-Man suffered huge ass losses compared to last Friday.

Spider-Man was down 70%, and Ted was down nearly 60% after having great legs every day up til now.

Not that this stuff matters after what those people suffered.

Something like "every cop in the city is stuck down there"
Jgl: "not every one"

Whole theater started to laugh at that horrific line.

It seems to have impacted the weekend, but will probably lead to better legs in the short term.

My showing was about 85 percent full. Not bad, considering it was 2:15 am on a Saturday morning/Friday night.

I didn't like how Batman spit the line back at Bane. It was empty.

I went and saw it again. I liked it the first time but the sense of dread that I was feeling that they might actually kill Batman made me a little too anxious on first viewing.

Watching it again today was awesome. I was able to focus on the batman 2.0 storyline. Really relish both the fights. Bales grunts and the weight of each punch. I really really really enjoyed it the second timearound.

I think its my fav of the three.

We're confused because they go out of their way to establish the fact that a) there is very little time left until the bomb explodes at that point (on the order of days), b) they established that Bruce is bankrupted, keeping only his house, so he should not be able to afford a fast way back and c) he's in a prison at least 5000 miles away from Gotham in another country (perhaps on another continent) with none of his resources available to him because all of his people are in Gotham under lockdown. He has no gadgets, no money, and no way to get help from Lucius, Alfred or Gordon. He's Batman, not Jesus.

Didn't stop him from getting around the world during those 7 years in Begins.

But yeah, I can totally get people not going to the movies this weekend. In, I'd be lying if I didn't say it was in my head when I saw the movie. Completely subconsciously, the first thing I did when we sat down in the theatre was scan around the audience.

People thinking this trilogy is above stuff like LotR, Star Wars, etc are crazy. TDK was the only one that was more than great.

TDK > BB > TDKR.

Edit:

There is no way a man without money or gadgets could've realistically gone from where the hell the pit was AND snuck into locked down warlord-Gotham in the time that was given to Bruce within the context of the movie. This is a plothole.

It was the first thing that popped into my head during the Stock Market scene.

Guns, heavy armor, crowded place...
