The entire middle of this movie was like Riggs dislodging his shoulder and rising to the water's surface....for forty minutes!!!

Only Riggs also had to see Rika dead while he was down. And instead of lisping up a storm when he came back, he snapped necks and squashed heads in car doors.
Riggs is the hero Gotham needed.

I thought the movie was great, though certainly behind the Dark Knight in terms of cinematic prowess.
That said, why on earth did they go all in the New York City being Gotham thing? Did I miss this in the Dark Knight or something? It bothered me a lot.

I wish Ward fell in the damn stadium hole.
I didn't know it was Superman till the scene with the boy putting his hands to his hips...and then I went oh shiiii...
The music and Russell Crowe-esque sounding speech at the start of the trailer really confused me as well...I saw the DC logo and Syncopy but didn't think much of it...and I actually started thinking of The Perfect Storm-esque film with sea drama or something...
I have since watched the trailer on YouTube a dozen times and it's so good!
Just got back from seeing it. Overall, thought it was on the same level as Begins, but not as good as The Dark Knight. Still, all three are good movies and Nolan could have ended the trilogy in infinitely worse ways than what we got.
I was just bummed that the movie more tries to raise the stakes simply for the sake of raising the stakes. I felt more emotionally involved with the Joker taking over Gotham with two boats and a few drums of gasoline than I did Bane with an entire correctional facility worth of criminals, a network of mercenaries, and a nuke. Another GAF member a few pages back nailed it, but it felt like I was watching an abridged version of Arkham City.
But Bane, I liked Bane, but I could not understand what in the fuck he was saying at multiple points. Hell, actual conversations between Batman and Bane were pretty ridiculous as a result (I also could not hold my anger back when Batman was just being like "WHERE IS THE DETONATOR WHERE IS IT WHEREISITWHEREISITBLLAGGGHH")
But in all, I liked it.

Gotham WAS Chicago, seeing all those helicopter shots of NYC was such a bummer.

In my humble opinion, to maintain fictional cohesion, a city should NEVER be identified. It cheesed up the movie for me because it reminded me of all those disaster movies.
When that theme kicks in as he's fully unveiled on the bike... oomph
How did JGL know that Bruce Wayne was Batman again? I totally didn't comprehend his explanation in the film.

Only thing I didn't buy at all is that Batman fires INTO the crowd of police to make the ramp. Motherfucker would have been riddled with bullets in seconds. Lucky it's the Springfield police department.

It is one of the things I'll always give the edge to the Burton films for... but won't muck up the thread with that talk
It all boiled down to having to wear a different mask, kind of like how Bruce had to. John could relate to Bruce and that is how he knew. There was no physical evidence showing Bruce was Batman, just intuition.

JGL lost his parents and found out later in his life how people hide their emotions, you have to just pretend and act like it didn't affect you, he knew from his own actions and saw how Wayne (whom he met at an event years before) acted and immediately knew.

Bane was completely awesome until the final 20 minutes. The plot basically boils down to, "crazy dude takes city hostage to score some pussy". Ridiculous. In fact the entire movie felt really fantastical compared to the previous two. DKR felt like a straight up comic book movie. I was still entertained though.
