REAL TALK: What did you know before watching the movie?

I knew Ra's and Liam Neeson were in it, and that Miranda was Talia( that damn set photo)....thats about it.
I knew Marion would be Talia because I know her accent and I know Talia's accent and I knew there was only one way that was gonna go, lulz. Also knew the Ra's appearance. I guess the first thing doesn't count since it was an educated uess.

Can someone explain to me exactly why bane needed the mask? I missed the explanation and all I remember is that he got badly wounded after being beaten by the inmates and that doesn't really explain the mask to me.
keeps the pain at bay

Only that Miranda was Talia. I still remember seeing someone post that set photo in the thread that had the first official photo of Catwoman.

How many years have passed in the story since BB to TDKR?

6 months to a year. Oops read that as TDK.

8.5 to 9 years.

I knew about Ra's because roosters99 spoiled it months ago for me. I was super pissed.

I knew about Talia because some other dipstick spoke about it months ago and posted a photo of her walking over dead bodies on the steps.

And I knew that Catwoman killed Bane because junior members suiciding all up in this bitch.

I had heard the massive rumour of Neeson filming, and that someone was cast for Young Ras and Young Talia (girl, with hair, looks 98% like Marion for realz)

2 weeks before the movie came out, accidentally spotted a photo of Crane as Judge (from the art book). But had heard slight rumours of his return.

Knew of Miranda probably being Talia because of that photo in Pittsburg with her clothing and getting into the tumbler.

I knew Franco from Rescue Me was going to be in it (Military guy who came into the city, then got choked to death by Bane's Knee)

That one was great, I had a problem with the 2nd fight, which should have been Bane kicking Batman's ass again (although Batman's doing better than the 1st fight), then he hits one of the tubes on the mask and starts doing a bit better, hits another and it's even, and then hits the last one and starts winning.

And I would have liked Bane to be involved in the last setpiece.

And obviously I was annoyed by everyone standing around staring at Talia talking, and then the smooch while the nuke was about ready to explode.

Also, how do they cut off the city to the world when they clearly established Gotham has a harbor/ferries/etc in the last movie? Everything's not all frozen when Bane takes over.

The ending was fantastic though.

How many years have passed in the story since BB to TDKR?

BB covered like 29 years and then the second half was all in one day. then the gap between TDK and BB was 6 months. TDK took place in like 2 weeks. And then 8 years and 5 months through TDKR.

Really, Bruce was only Batman for like 7 months total in these movies.

Oh my gosh, I'm sorry :( Would've probably killed my account from being pissed off :(

I'm sure people who are familiar with the comic versions of Ra's, Bane, and Talia (like I am) didn't fall for that scene where Ra's tells Bruce that Bane is his son.

I was like, lol wat?

Ah, good times :lol

somebody earlier in this thread (or the non-spoiler thread, I can't keep up) recommended a good recent "Dick Grayson as Batman" run in the comics, I think it was Detective Comics. Anybody remember what that was? Interested in looking it up.

I knew Miranda was Talia literally since Cotillard was cast. I knew they were going to "go back to the beginning" in some fashion and she was just the perfect casting choice.

When Batman cornered Bane, and threw her the gun, mentally I was all "herewegojoker.gif"

In the ComiXology sale thread, the original poster mentions Snyder's Detective Comics run with Grayson as Bats. Maybe that's what you're thinking of?

I half expected 2 of these to die: Alfred, Fox, Gordon

Alfred to totally break Bruce
Had heard Miranda/Talia was to Stab Fox in that city hall

Eh, it was believable enough for them to take creative liberties and suspend disbelief. There's no reason for you to distrust it either unless you wanted strict adherence to the comic book characters.

7 months and his body is totally wasted. Being a superhero is rough.

Realism!

Man, this movie really hammered home how OLD Caine and Freeman are :_(

It's crazy how Lucius got more and more to do with each movie. Caine had the most to do in TDK, unless we're talking incredible emotional intensity.

Seriously between this and Journey 2 the Mysterious Island, this is one of the best Michael Caine years ever. His acting is so rejuvenated.

If someone wants to put up some Amazon links essential Batman collection comics that aren't The Killing Joke, The Long halloween, Year One or TDKR, I'd appreciate it.

One good thing, I guess, is that in Bruce's rush to find Bane (and lose), probably prevented Bane from breaking into the Batcave/Wayne Manor. Cause I assume he would have come for Bruce soon, as the occupation was about to begin.

HE BECAME MR FREEZE

he lived...showed him and selina chilling at a cafe together. Repaired bat signal and whatnot.
Ok good.

For some reason I related Alfred seeing them at the cafe to him daydreaming it earlier in the movie while him and Bruce were having their little spat.

But I forgot about the repair bat signal.
No he survived.I got confused about that too because I missed what the 2 guys said to Fox.

oh, and there was that.
