Watched the movie tonight. This was no Dark Knight by any means. Cool scene was batman getting beat by bane. Lame scene was bane getting shot....wtf. Batman couldn't beat bane. The movie felt weak probably my least favorite out of the 3. I still like batman begins the most but I think some of my favorite scenes are in Dark Knight because of Heath Ledger. Avengers was a way more fun movie than The Dark Knight Rises. Also there was way to much bull to be OK with in the DKR. The truck not killing Gordon. The bomb being dragged across the ground with no explosion or it not blowing up when the truck dove off. It was a fun watch but it will be forgettable and I think maybe my hype was high from reading neogaf threads for so long.

Avengers has just as much flaws as this movie. It's the fact that they could pull a good movie out of the avengers that's clouding your judgement.

Saw TDKR again, two things that pop up to me as pretty bad.

1- The CIA guy that has Bane on his plane has to be the worst CIA agent I've ever seen. Looked way too "goofy" while interogating Bane's men in the plane.

2- Selina uses the governor's cellphone to send a txt to her friend, and they could send a swat team and trace the phone within a few sec? Seriously?

Besides that, I love the movie, it closes the loop well. I Liked Dark knight, loved Heath Ledger's performance, but It's my least favorite in the series on a personal note. Batman/Bruce Wayne's not really the main protagonist of that film, it's the city of gotham. The joker's quarrel is with the people of Gotham. And in the end the city proves the Joker wrong. Bruce/Batman was kinda sidelined in a way.

Um ok that was after he was fucking STABBED and before that he kicked his fucking ass and busted up his mask

He got shot in the last movie and still manged to fight back.

Look, Batman bested him in a hand to hand brawl, sure - but it was Catwoman that got the last blow in. That's what I'm saying.

its not that we know little about Bane or his backstory, it's that other then the football stadium, he never seemed that menacing. We knew nothing about Joker's character, his backstory or his motives and him putting gotham in an all out panic was much more believable. Bane's first act was also his peak as a villain and it was downhill from there.

Bane's line when he sees the bat signal on the bridge "That's impossible" came off as comical, it wasn't serious nor angry or frustrated. The way he said it made some folks, including myself laugh.

It *was* comical. Which I liked. Frankly, I loved the nonchalance delivery Hardy gave all of his lines.

It just leaves a loose end with Bane's backstory. He mentions that he didn't see the light until he was a man, but he wasn't the one born in the prison... they don't mention two pregnant women being thrown in there. There is also the fact that Bruce being able to take that leap just like the child meant something. That he was ready to fight him for real this time. But the reveal kind of nulls that.

Bruce was ready to take on the ultimate threat to Gotham....

Talia.

Liked the movie more the second go round. I could understand everything Bane said and noticed Miranda/Talia's deceptions. I just love how Nolan puts his movies together.

Oh, what was the deal with the quick shot of the scar on Talia when she slept with bruce?

To show there was a scar. Wasn't she talking about how poor and rough her childhood was during that scene?

Misdirection. It ties in perfectly with her time at the prison.

For those who have listened to the full soundtrack does anyone know when the bonus track "The End" plays? Is it when Bruce is flying over the river? Because I thought that track was "Rise". Also is there a track that has the music for the end sequence of the movie?

Also, that strobe-shot of Batman rushing toward the camera better show up here as a banned.gif with Bish's head as soon as is humanly possible.

Or something for when someone gets a unflattering tag....

"Why didn't you just ban me?" "Your punishment must be more severe." From the corresponding scene.

Oh, what was the deal with the quick shot of the scar on Talia when she slept with bruce?

Rough childhood in a prison
perhaps a scar from a battle, or training in the LoS

We don't know, we didn't see it happen.

If you can across Bruce Wayne shirtless, and didn't know he was Batman, you'd ask the same question. "What's the deal with all those scars?"

Oh, and for all the good Catwoman's Blasting of Bane did, I'm pretty sure I didn't see her ass fly off with a ticking TIME BOMB.

I can second seeing it twice that the 2nd time was even better than the first. The first time I saw it was at a normal theatre in an advanced screening. I was so pissed/upset that they "killed" Batman after the nuke went off that I didn't even hear the part where Bruce had fixed the auto pilot. So needless to say I was really confused how he lived. LOL.

The 2nd time I saw it was in the IMAX. I noticed a bunch of things I didn't the first time around due to the better sound quality and not being emotionally on edge :)

BTW IMAX is the way to go for this movie if you can!

Talia.

You know one thing I haven't seen brought up... after Bruce slept with Talia he runs his hand across what looks like some kind of branding on her... You know, the one he was going to get when he completed his initiation in Begins? But this doesn't even cross his mind.

In general Nolan really glossed over that aspect of Batman. We never get to see prep time or that ridiculous awareness we see in the comics or animated series. He just seems to roll with the punches. He also seems to be a genius, but it never really fits. He never really builds the equipment, but he can magically setup that cellphone sonar and design an autopilot for the bat? OK.

I really liked Bane's voice, but it was hard to make out at certain times. :/

Welcome to the second viewing awesomeness club!

She totally fell in love with Bruce because of that shit.

Faking your death gets the ladies wet. Talia didn't recognize.

Bruce hadn't had any pussy for 8 years; ofcourse he would throw himself after the ladies like that!

Oh and Bruce lost the first battle with Bane cause he lost his mojo during that sexy-time scene.

I thought it was the scar they branded people in LoS with. Like they were about to do to Bruce in Begins until he said "nuh-uh, I'm a tattoo man!"

Or he said something like that.

My heart was pumping towards the end of the film, waiting for somehting shocking to happen.

It doesn't. I would lower your expectations about the ending if I were you guys. Great film. Feels more like the first one except for the final fight scene.

Any questions?

Yes he does break him physically and mentally.

In the end, he decides to stay as Batman for as long as he can. It's implied he's going to search for a partner so he doesn't have to protect Gotham alone for the rest of his life. It ends with everyone in the city cheering when the Bat signal is turned on (quite the change of tone for a Batman film) and he is on top of a building for a few seconds then swoops down. Credits.

He gets promoted in the end and is basically the ultimate good guy. No Robin, sorry lol.

Permaban me please if none of this takes place in the film.

Talia provided all the tumblers for Bane. She used Wayne so she could work for him and steal all of his equiptment. You find this out before she has Lucius killed.

She worked for the League of Shadows but never knew how serious things were going to get until she witnessed Bane break Batman thanks to her luring him to Bane. She's arrested by Joseph Gordon's character then escapes and hides out at Waynes house until she finds out what happened to him. She was told very little about the League's plans.

She flirts with Bruce but then comes to realize Bane needs to be stopped so she joins him but keeps it clear she's not going to be a good guy when it's all over. I had low expectations for her character but she actually nailed it.

he asked for a permaban if it didnt end like this and he was wrong. he asked for it, this is from page 1

The end of Rise is the end sequence music. Not sure on your first question.

Saw it. Loved it. Hardy was a fucking boss (my friends and I have been quoting "the ____ rises, brother" all night).

I see the criticism of it feeling a little jumbled/rushed and there was definitely a lot of plot to keep track of but overall I was very happy with it. Particularly happy I saw it in real IMAX. That scene with the cops chasing him at the beginning looked BANANAS.

I agree, please ban for spreading misinformation

The liar rises, brother!

Actually, didn't we disprove Monk right afterwards? I remember someone sent a PM to Shard (user on SHH.com who saw a screener, and it was provable), and Shard said the info Monk had was false.

Has anyone suggested that, perhaps what they mean by the fact that bane was "born" in the pit is that the man he is during the events of TDKR was created in the pit?

I hope the rest of the big directors grow some balls and adopt IMAX. Even some of the sweeping shots of the city in IMAX were fucking glorious.

that was me who sent pm to the shh guy. after that he said gaf should perma me if any of what he said was not in the movie...

I really hope they have a great making of documentary on the Blu-Ray of TDKR unlike the shitty extras on TDK. I have always been really upset how bad the extras were on TDK considering how great they were on Batman Begins.

I saw both films on blu-ray prior to watching TDKR. Fake Ras is clearly getting ready to brand Bruce before he decides to blow them up.

Think you could perhaps make out the shape or symbol of the brand? The scar kind of looked like an arrow pointed up.

Man I completely disagree on bane not being menacing throughout. To me, he only became weak when he was broken down in the end, which is about 2 minutes of the entire movie.

If Bane did not break down in the end, he would have remained menacing, his breaking down was crucial in making Talia look like the actual villian
