did anyone else think at least 60% of the dialogue was pretty cornball and needed major revision?
Anything in particular that strikes you?

For me, maybe a few lines urked me, but I was satisfied for the most part. I particularly liked Bane's one sided conversation with Bruce.

bruce's last line to gordon could have used some editing. that was so on-the-nose and just upsettingly bad writing.

i guess that's the one that sticks out the most. there was stuff like this in small doses in BEGINS too, speeding, so that's a fair point. three-fourths of the stuff batman said in the film was almost unbearably bad. bane too, for that matter. they seem to spit theses for the films instead of talking like characters.

that line was amazing, you're wrong.

Also I didnt see the shot of the tumbler falling into the ground (after an explosion) .. this was filmed as I remember seeing one of the YT videos posted during the filming stage.

If Bane did not break down in the end, he would have remained menacing, his breaking down was crucial in making Talia look like the actual villian

I didn't really get "Talia is the REAL mastermind!" out of all that. I figured they were simply equal partners. They probably planned and executed the whole thing together.

Thought the first act had some really clunky/corny lines (especially around the Exchange assault). Either it settled down or I got used to it, but it didn't bother me as much after a while. And it had some genuinely funny lines.

I really do not understand the need for the blood transfusion at the beginning of the film.

I think to make it look like the corpse in the body bag was the nuclear scientist.

man, i saw that ending coming for MILES and it was still fucking awesome.

the next movie needs to be called Joseph-Gordon Levitt Is Batman and star joseph-gordon levitt as batman for four hours and sixty seconds.

I really do not understand the need for the blood transfusion at the beginning of the film.

to make it look like pavel died in the explosion

They wanted the authorities to believe Dr. Pavol was dead, so they transferred his blood into the corpse they brought on board. Which would be identified as the Doc when examined.

Dunno how anyone isn't terrified by Bane's stadium speech.

"Who can disarm this bomb?"

"Only me."

"Thank you."

*snaps neck*

What was the last line? My memory is terrible and I just got home from seeing the movie.

Speaking of terrible memory, what happened to Joker in the last movie? Was he just put in jail once he was caught again? So does that mean he escaped when they released all the prisoners this time?

Regarding the latest movie, ok so Bruce presumably bailed out because he fixed the autopilot (though I didn't realize there was six months since Freeman told him about it), and presumably was far enough away from the blast to survive. That was awesome, and I nearly teared up at the end when Alfred saw him and Catwoman on vacation.

BUT, what was with the lifetime trained assassin Talia stabbing him in the spine or whatever, and twisting the knife multiple times, but then he was able to walk and fly and everything just fine? I mean I assume Bane was non-canon since I thought he broke Batman's back in the comics, but this time he just messed up one of his vertebra, and a prison doctor was able to punch it back into place (and it didn't protrude out of his back presumably)...but the knife presumably was stabbed through body armor by a master assassin and should have incapacitated him or something.

I also thought the abrupt sleeping-with-Talia thing was kind of contrived. I mean it gives Batman a ALL MY GIRLFRIENDS DIE kind of thing, but still. Catwoman was way better.

I think Anne Hathaway did an awesome job as Catwoman, and Alfred was pretty great too.

something like this. bear with me, i'm working from memory:

jim gordon: "you can't go. the city needs a hero."
batman: "a hero can be anyone. even a person putting a coat around a young child to make him realize the world isn't over."

and this very special moment (tm) of putting a jacket around a person is enough to make jim gordon realize it was bruce wayne.

They made a conscious decision to not mention the Joker. Basically Nolan didn't think it'd be appropriate to reduce an actual death to a simple plot point.

it was more about the speech. no pun intended, but she was just trying to make a point. also, she probably wasn't counting on catwoman to blow up bane.

Yes, presumably. But, well... you know.

Well, she actually wanted him to live long enough to die in the nuclear blast. So, you can kinda fanwank it and say she deliberately gave him a non-lethal stabbing.

Heath Ledger's Death happened. Nolan decided no mentions of Joker at all would be "respectful." I disagree as many others do, but I didn't make the film.

Talia's stabbing for pain more than anything. It's all about the slow torture. Hell, she didn't want him to die by any other way except in the nuclear blast. It's just that once she left, Bane was just going to kill him. "You'll just have to Imagine the Fire" A good last line ;P

i loved that they had talia in her comic book outfit too (or at least one of them). i didn't notice she was wearing it until after the reveal.

also, i've been completely fooled by these stupid movies three separate times now. i was pretty sure miranda was probably talia, but i pushed it out of my mind until the end of the film. dammit.

Will Bruce come back once he realizes Blake has no problems using guns?

That reminds me of a little detail - when he defended himself at the construction site and killed the two henchmen - it was obvious it was his first time killing someone and he was disgusted by it.

I didn't realise the significance and similarity to Bruce until you pointed it out. Haha

Man I completely disagree on bane not being menacing throughout. To me, he only became weak when he was broken down in the end, which is about 2 minutes of the entire movie.

I thought Bane was menacing as hell in the two fight scenes with Batman, but aside from that his henchmen carried out the majority of work for him.

I would've liked his character to be a bit more hands on and wish the movie had showcased his physical strength a bit more outside of those two fight scenes.

One of my fav shots. When Blake enters the batcave he sees Bats flying towards him and crouches down then stands up. EXACTLY like Bruce Wayne in BB. I wished they had zoomed out the camera like in BB

My theater really liked Blake's ricochet shot.

He crushed a dude's face

I do question Batman's "no guns but OK, missiles" policy though.

he uses explosives in the comics as well iirc. he did totally kill that guy driving the truck though. murdered him right in the face.

yeah, that was fantastic. i loved the way he rises on the platform to end the movie too.

Hmm thanks. I guess someone must have put a coat around a child in a previous movie and I forgot that too.

When was that? I swear I have no memory AND I miss details. :P

I think Bruce stopped giving a damn and murdered shit loads of people by the end. I can guarantee he shoots someone point blank in the face during the scene where Blake has a gun to his head. :lol

To bad his dads coat wasn't the nice coat he gave to the bum.

Missed opportunity for more of that full circle poetry.

actually none of the flashbacks were necessary in this film. if there's a director's cut, then they should be removed.

i thought he just punched that guy.

When he discovered the construction site where they were mixing explosives.

i wish there were some more lines that were said earlier in the film that then could be repeated verbatim later in the film ironically by another character.

markey_mark_wtf.gif

Hey, that's what Batman, Catwoman and Gordon looked like at Talia's death scene.

Nope, the driver TOTALLY drove into the path of missiles. Totally his fault, getting in the way of those poor, defenseless explosives.
