So I'm looking to cook rice. Never done it before and it says after the water boils and you add everything in to let it simmer for 45 minutes. So that just means put the temperature at the lowest possible setting right? Like the exact point where the stove top turns on or a little higher?

At the point where it maintains a low boil. The temperature will depend on your stove.

Probably. You want it to be bubbling slowly. And keep the lid on.
 
So I saw an infomercial once for the heating element things that go in the microwave and act like an over cooking food. Essentially can cook and egg or steak etc. I am going back to college in a few weeks and can only have a microwave but on a low carb diet so I need to be able to cook meat.

Anyone know what they are called? All my google searches have been fruitless.

(also if you have used one does it work well?)
 
I've been accidentally using stage.neogaf.com for several days now, when did it change to look just like the real site rather than a low-budget text version?
 
I have a Western Digital "Essentials" 1TB hard drive.

I use it a lot, but when I use it I don't touch or jostle the mini usb connector.

BUT STILL!!!! ...the minu usb port is now loose to the point that the wire moves about 20-30 degrees side to side while plugged in to the drive. I have tried an assortment of USB cables (big usb to mini) and it is the exact same with every one. I have to set the drive down on a desk and leave it, not touch it, or it could disconnect. If I am just listening to music that's fine. If I am backing up data - not so fine.

Is there a way to stiffen, brace, reinforce or anything else that stupidly small port? God I hate usb in so many ways. I guess I could try getting in there with a pair of small needle-nose pliers but that would be a near last resort.

Does anyone have any suggestions, or know a way that I can make that opening grip the mini-usb male plug so that it doesn't move around.

So after I saw the little girl who was caught after falling 3 stories on the news, I wondered why being caught doesn't have the same impact as landing on the ground, which is like 4 feet away.

It's really about the rate of deceleration. The person catching her probably fell over (and/or was somewhat squishy), meaning she didn't come to a stop all at once.

On the other hand, landing on the hard ground is basically insta-stop. That's what really causes damage.

Think of it like this: if she landed in a swimming pool from that height, she'd be fine, right?
 
So apparently I got a pretty nasty virus on my win7 64bit machine, and it has caused some issues with windows update and the like. I've removed the threat, but there stil seems to be some damage done. I'd like to reinstall windows, but I don't want to have to reinstall all my software. I have windows installed on a partition, and my software on another ( on the same hard drive )

Any software around to "relink" my programs after I reinstall windows?

You are generally expected to tip pizza drivers, yes. I would guess that a standard tip (15-20%) would probably be considered fine.

Never heard of a building society, but from a quick googling it sounds basically like what we call credit unions in the US.

The main difference is that banks are for-profit and credit unions are not. You are much more likely to have, say, piles of overdraft fees from a bank than a credit union.

Can't you just open the casing, detach the HDD, buy a new, generic casing and put the HDD in?
 
When you have an incoming call on a cell phone and you press "ignore" what happens on the caller's end of things?

The moment you press ignore, does it go straight to voicemail, or does it just silence the ringing and as far as the caller knows it still rings X number of times until the voicemail starts, like normal?
 
Is there a website that searches shows/movies across a bunch of different platforms (ie Netflix, Amazon streaming, Vudu, Hulu, etc)? I'd like to watch The Messenger right now and I assume its out there on one of the apps I have but I don't know where.
 
I have a pair of Vans slip-ons. I wore my slip-ons after getting out of the pool which was a bad idea. Anyways, I put them on a table to dry them. I went to the bathroom and came out and it was raining. Now my shoes are even more wet. What is the best way to dry them?

I'm having ana sthma attack, please someone help me stop it. I can't go to a doctor just very sudden because of dog allergy, what do I do?

Do you not have an inhaler or something?

If it's just an allergic reaction and not asthma, get away from the dog, get plenty of air, and it should clear up. Or get an over the counter antihistamine.

If it's really bad, go to the damn doctor.

Breath into a paper NOT PLASTIC bag, lie down. See about getting a ventolin inhaler, especially if you expect to be around dogs much.
 
My inhaler ran out. I've been waiting for over an hour to clear up and nothing.
 
Does anyone have the link to a thread on another forum that is a father asking for help of photoshopping a picture of him and his son and then he gets trolled big time with lots of pictures of photoshopped jokes? if anyone knows what i'm talking about.. I think he may have been asking to remove the red eye or something?
