Both usages, for/from each gender,really don't foster community. Personally, if I do, it is with friends but the worst of those traded insults go way beyond casual cursing. I think these words directed at women are more demeaning, as being an asshole can be a point of pride for some men.

I've called pretty much every male associate I know the c-word (not sure if it's outright banned). At this stage it's not even an insult any more.

Oddly enough I've only ever directed at a woman once...and by god did she deserve it.

Not really. A word can have multiple meaning, and the fact that my username as a whole is "nVidiot whore" indicates that female promiscuity or prostitution isn't the intended use of the word "whore."
