Via Majornelson: 2012 Xbox LIVE Update Public Beta Now Available

Numbers are limited, so sign up today. If you’re selected as a tester, an update will be pushed to your console once the public beta kicks off. The update will contain select dashboard features, including:

• Internet Explorer for Xbox
• Personalized dashboard recommendations
• Enhanced category search and discovery features

Note: A console in the program is expected to remain fully compatible with standard retail consoles not in the program.

If you would like to participate, please register for the 2012 Xbox LIVE Update Public Beta here.

Edit: It does NOT ask for your console ID or serial number or anything like that, so you can sign up from work. No need to wait until you get home.

Maybe it's a freak occurrence but I was on XBL while signing up and it kicked me off after I was done registering. Wasn't able to sign in after, but did a reboot of the system and it's fine now.

Yeah, a minute and a half before my games / apps list is usable is a tough pill to swallow. Maybe one of the new features will be a dash that is as fast as the old versions.

Hoping that the new watch espn app (among other apps) will be part of this preview as well.

I'm thinking it's the ability to adjust the order and what is shown on the home screen. I mean, not having the game tab right next to the home tab, or even making it the home tab is really fucking annoying.

Yes, this should allow you to "pin" favorite apps/games to your Home tab.
