COD was a million seller on the Wii, without a good online system.People will always buy thier first party games but thier aim is to lure the 3rd parties and to do that then thier going to need to get people away from Live to play Cod or Madden. Its going to be very hard imo.
I think some people are mad that Nintendo usually puts really cheap prices for their consoles ($200 for NES-GameCube & $250 for Wii) and now that the Wii U is going to be $50 more are getting mad, it's $50 does it really matter?.
I wonder what people would say if Sony made the same strategy with the PS4 and priced it at $300 would people complain?.
That's definitely not the reason. Half this thread didn't care enough about nintendo's past consoles to buy those and they don't care enough about the wii u to care that it is not the same price as the consoles they ignored in the past
I believe, Wii U to HD consoles will be what Kinect was to Wii: although it didn't set the world on fire, but it did manage to at least lure the already 360 owners to choose it over Wii; Wii U may not make a major bulk of core gamers move from their consoles to Wii U, however, it will make Wii U owners content with what they have instead of buying a PS4/720 and playing their core games there;People will always buy thier first party games but thier aim is to lure the 3rd parties and to do that then thier going to need to get people away from Live to play Cod or Madden. Come again? Why would anyone engage in a conversation on the basis of your statement. I apologise but really and truly, you shouldn't go around spouting fanboy sounding nonsense like that.
I don't see why people on here should be constantly bending over backwards going over old ground and video game corporation prejudice time and time again. If you haven't got the want or need to keep up to date with Wii U news and facts, which by your power statement you don't, then I don't understand your want or need to partake in a Wii U discussion what-so-ever, unless it's just to spread a bit of hate and bile.
That is some news. I dont think that was confirmed at all.So things are moving pretty fast here, nothing to do really with Shatterfield but Wii U nevertheless. I'm not convinced myself that retailer listings are trust worthy so I do not create a new topic.
GAME France officially started their pre-orders for Wii U. I had a call from my local GAME store here in Paris and it seems they have faith in their intel. They had a "document form Nintendo" presenting the two Wii U colors so black confirmed if you trust GAME's intranet. Finally their end date for pre-orders has been set to the 12 november but that's a monday, not the normal friday for releases... Maybe for systems they close their pre-orders a few days ago... but like I said, I'm not convinced myself in the retailer "leaks".
Nevertheless, system preordered here, if you're french and have a GAME store near you, you can check that out.
no confirmation about colors at launch; it may be that black is available but white is not [unlikely situation], or that White is and black is not at launch [possible situation]Wasn't a black Wii U already confirmed?
So, the prevailing logic here that because the PS2 sold 150mm then no other console can be considered to be at the saturation point unless it too has sold that many? So what happens if the PS4 sells 200mm? Does that retroactively prove the PS2 wasn't market saturated?

I'm going to put this out there because I know I am not the only one who feels this way. I am going WiiU-PC next gen. There are very few console exclusives other than Nintendo that I am interested in. If there are any games on 720 or PS4 that I want to play, I will play them on my son's console. My gaming PC gives me almost all of the games I want to play other than Nintendo franchises. I will be buying a black WiiU at launch. I would pay as much as $350.00 for the console and not have a problem with it. Everyone needs to let it go and realize that the WiiU is not competing with the 360 and PS3, no matter what you may think. Depending on what is revealed in September, the WiiU can dominate this holiday season. I honestly don't think Nintendo will drop the ball right now.

"I'll buy it at a high price!"
They already confirmed that you can download all retail games online (at least all Nintendo games). For me personally to buy this console I want the option to buy any Nintendo game on thier store. Try and get a Zelda game out a bit quicker as well. They made one massive step towards my money with the option to use traditonal controllers.
I don't have a gaming PC, but I'm planning on taking a similar approach: WiiU + PS4. This generation I was all Wii60 at first (much later picked up a PS3) and with Mass Effect, Valve, Rare, Mistwalker, Lionhead, Bungie, etc. all being console exclusive to the 360, I was perfectly happy with that. But now with so many recent changes (most of them gone/turned into shit, no more third party exclusives outside of Gears) and Sony having Naughty Dog, Quantic Dream, Sucker Punch, a chunk left of Team Ico, the bulk of third party support, and some niche japan titles; things are different now.
Unless Microsoft does something major with Kinect next generation or somehow pulls a 180 before then, I really don't think I'll be missing out on much without a 720.

Nearly confirmed for "one day", never confirmed for launch. The retailers told me they got a document from Nintendo (and they have it on their store desk for public information) with the two Wii U colors on it and actually asked me which color I wanted for my preorder.

The wii may have saturated it's potential audience of buyers but that doesn't mean it's sales are slowing down because the market is saturated (if that makes sense, i'm tired here).
So every retail 1st party Wii U game will also be available day one as a download from the store?
I'm pretty sure it's also the case for 3DS games as of NSMB2/Onitore. Animal Crossing, Paper Mario 3 and Luigi's Mansion 2 all were confirmed to have day-and-date eShop releases already. So every retail 1st party Wii U game will also be available day one as a download from the store? That's pretty huge, didn't know that. That could def lead to some impulse purchases on my end.
We did this in another thread, but it looks better than pretty much every PS360 rts, retail or otherwise.Doesn´t look like a Gamecube title but more like something you could download for 10-15 bucks on PSN/Live.
There was no hate or bile in my comment. They're asking 299 for a console that doesn't have an established online system, only a few games which will also be avalible for the 360 and PS3. The said consoles have a broader selection avalible for them and they cost less to buy, and they are played by more people.
Edit Also Can Nintendo gurantee the other big games will be on thier console? GTA 5? Bioshock Infinite?
I feel the same way except halo is one of my favourite franchises ;;.
Yeah, and the rumor is that Nintendo is making the licensing fees so attractive for DD games that third-parties would almost have to hate money to keep their games off of DD for Wii U, too.
So did the Core 360, so does the Arcade 360, so does every version of the PSP, 3DS and Vita. Really PS3 is the only system that heavily pushes DD and includes mass storage as standard, and it sounds like even that's changing with the newest revision.I'm kinda surprised they're pushing for DD considering the WiiU is shipping sans a large hard drive.
Seems like something they should've given the spotlight to a bit more during E3. If MS or Sony announced the same for their 1st party 360 and PS3 games it would be pretty huge. It feels like Ninty just casually announced it.

For the tech involved, I didn't feel the Wii was worth $250 and it became one of my all time least played consoles. I've bought every Nintendo system at launch starting with the SNES (no VB) and I've been happy with the rest of them. $300 for the WiiU is too much for me and will be the only Nintendo system I don't buy at launch.
By the time you add tax, the real controller, and a game I'm looking at close to or over $300 bucks. All that with no super launch title like Mario 64. I'll just pass and wait. $250 for a WiiU is pushing it but $300 is over my limit considering my experience with the Wii.
Uh, hu.
Uh, hu.
It's a valid argument. It all gets factored into the overall price. Plus I'm sure it will get to the point where third parties don't even use the tablet and just support the 360 knockoff.
When I do buy my WiiU, it will be the controller I personally use 95% of the time on the system.

Pretty much where I stand as well.

Which will cut you out from any games that use the screen in a useful and required way. If all you care about is multi-platform games that don't use the screen, then just buy another system. If you want to play Nintendo games, you're going to have to use the GamePad, as Nintendo will most definitely be requiring the GamePad for most of its games. The Core controller (which I plan on getting, too, whenver I get a Wii U) is going to be most useful for multi-platform games with little to no use of the screen.
