The Giant Bomb Quick Look Thread 2

In the LittleBigPlanet karting quick look Jeff and Ryan keep referring to Stephen Fry as that British guy am I to believe they don't know him and never saw the absolute best quiz show QI, he was also in Sherlock Holmes the Guy Ritchie movie and plenty of other lesser known shows/movies.

I'm total with Jeff on LBP's style and aesthetics. It's doing nothing for me anymore.

Stuff like Stephen Fry and the overuse of British colloquialisms, yeah, that's grating now. You can't have 3 games full of that stuff.

The actual look is still fine though. Works for me. And the soundtrack is spot-on- that Anamanaguchi remix is brilliant and totally fitting for LBP.

Yeah fuck this British series for using British voice actors and words.
They should make it all American instead because there is a real dearth of American games.

LBPK is likely never something I'd pick up. It looks like a fun little racing game for kids, though, and I'm sure that it will do perfectly fine in that regard.

I'm surprised they haven't done a Foosball quick look yet. That game is weird enough to get their attention last week, I would have thought.

I'm British, you know! :P I like that it exists, but IDK. They could tone it down a bit... well, actually, they probably can't. It just seems like how they naturally write the dialogue and humour and whatever. Still, personally I think their approach is getting a bit old-hat. It's certainly not that it's British, that's quite the opposite of a problem in my eyes, it's that it's been the same thing for 3 games.

Seriously This.

i actually don't mind quicklooks for what they are, grown men like myself playing games for the education and entertainment of their audience while occasionally sharing their opinions, no matter how silly they are, they're occasionally funny.

Jeeves and Wooster and A Bit of Fry and Laurie are not 'lesser known', especially the latter. How dare you, sir.
I was concerned though that neither of them seemed to know who he was.

There are a bajillion things americans would know him from before qi. And yes I think they know who stephan fry is.

LBP always looks so boring to me. I suspect that is because it appeals more to creators than players.

I tried creation but I just don't have the imagination or patience to make anything worth a damn. I wasn't a fan of the platforming either, so traditional levels weren't fun for me. So I ended up just looking at the crazy stuff people made but, while a lot of the stuff is super impressive considering the tool set, none of it was all that fun to actually play. In the end, watching Youtube videos of the interesting levels achieved the same goal. I have huge respect for the game and the creators and I love that it exists but I just couldn't extract any real fun out of it from a gameplay perspective.

I don't create and I've had tons of fun. It's by far some of the best value I've gotten out of a game this gen. I fire it up every couple of months and usually have more decent levels to play.

Edit- Ha forgot to comment on the QL. I'm not super big on Kart racers so I think I'll wait for a big price drop.

Funny, playing the Beta my first thought was that I was impressed with how the LBP aesthetic seemed to be exactly what ModNation Racers had needed. I was expecting it to feel cynical but i actually found it just about as charming as LBP proper. I'm not American though, so maybe that has something to do with it?

I am American and I'm mesmerized by a good English accent, especially if there's a few unfamiliar idioms sprinkled in there. I could be thrashed by the worst insults imaginable but as long as they were delivered with a proper English accent, I'd appreciate them.

Watched the LBP Kart quicklook. Is that game running on the Little Big Planet or the Mod Nation Racing engine?

I'm assuming the latter but they did a hell of a job making all the peripheral things look like they're straight out of media molecule.

I think it's on the LBP engine. That's what they or Mm said when the game was announced.

Sega & All-Stars Racing Transformed looks like an evolution, not another clone. I'm not buying a kart race to not play the kart racing.

Hadn't seen anything on Deadlight up to this point, looks pretty cool. Hope the gameplay varies up a bit later on, it'd be a shame to waste that atmosphere and presentation.

It doesn't. It shows its hand early on in terms of gameplay, and they don't do anything new in in terms of mechanics and puzzles. Sadly.

"We're going back to the clone standard"

Looks like a pretty cool little title. Glad they don't force you to fight everything. Since it's a 2D title, I almost expected it to be mandatory.

The Beta has pretty noticeable framerate issues. 4 player local multiplayer may not run super smooth I imagine.

Yep, the LBP K beta has some really shitty framerate issues, which is death for any Kart game. Modnation Racers had major issues too with the framerate, on top of being a really generic/bland racing game.

you're stupid for liking the game that isn't the game
