I just popped in to say the reason all of those Legos were on sale + additional an 25% off is because my local Meijers is undergoing a remodeling. Apparently there was a great deal of other toys on sale as well.

Talking to my wife in more detail about the sale, she said the purple triple stacked bus from Harry Potter was only 4$! We already have 1 assembled and that is a great little model. She said it was the last one. If they would have had more of them, she would have bought them all at that price. I'm glad to have another because now I can have 1 for my growing Lego city and my wife can have 1 for her Harry Potter Lego collection.

I'm planning on re-assembling all of the Alien Defense Force kits that my girls have kind of demolished (well, having my wife re-assemble them!), and stage an all out invasion of my modulars. Three tripods, various misc saucers, and a mothership should populate my 4 modulars well enough! Who knows, maybe the Avengers may show up to save the day!

As for the rest of these, I'm unsure what to do. I already have a Ghost Train, but 2 is always better than 1! The Star Wars stuff is not really a big thing for me, but I do have room to display them all if I choose asseblem them. Perhaps they'll go into a big bin and end up stored in the garage for a few years and see if they go up in value. They could sell for enough to pay for this hobby for amlong time.

Custom Street Fighter minifigures:

Does anyone know of any cool science fiction-based LEGO models inspired by Blade Runner or TRON (or other films or video games)? I found a link to models replicating Homeworld ships deep in this thread.

I don't believe that anyone has mentioned this in the entire thread, but a friend of ours just told my wife that there is going to be a LEGOLAND opening in Vaughan, Ontario in 2013! I'm assuming that it will be close to, if not right beside, Canada's Wonderland. Have any other Canucks heard about this?

Also, my daughter and I visited Lasting Toys in Mississauga, Ontario for the first time yesterday. They are a small b&m store that specializes in LEGO. I'd highly recommend going there if you're in the area. They are a little bit smaller than your typical official LEGO store but they had a large selection of sets to choose from including older oop sets, a wall that was plastered with a ton of different polybags, a nice selection of accessories and back issues of Brick Journal. Prices were slightly higher than the official LEGO store, so it wasn't really worth it to get current sets, but the older sets seemed to be very reasonably priced. Lots of fun browsing through that place!

Grabbed the Quinjet tonight:

The minifigs. A great assortment, including the exclusive Black Widow and Iron Man Mark VII armor. Thor is available as a polybag (which I got last week), and Loki comes in a few other sets. The Loki figure is very cool though.

Loki's chariot. Meh. Who cares. This is not why I bought this set! I did not place any stickers on the set, so it looks a bit plain.

THIS is why I bought this set.

There are a few cool interior details, but nothing too amazing. Just a few seats, storage area, and a fire extinguisher. There is also a drop down module with a drone to shoot out.

Major props for "Swooshability." Anyone on here that gets ships for their swooshability, this is my new favorite. The Star Wars ships are swooshable, but make fantastic display pieces. This set though, all I want to do is swoosh it around and play with it. This set has swooshability set to 11.

The build is fun. There are a lot of nice pieces in here. The set feels incredible solid (except the wing tips).

OVERALL: VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Great, and exclusive, mini figs. Nice pieces for MOCing later (if I actually do take it apart), and swooshability off the charts. This was a fun set to build, but VERY fun to play with after.

And as for that Republic Frigate I posted about earlier, I added pics to the short review if anyone is interested. Not good pics, but pics all the same.

Phoneciple, if we were kids, I'd always make excuses to come kick it at your house :)

You have made my week. Seriously. Thank you. Checking out Lasting Toys this week!!

I rarely "play" with the Lego sets. But I do love setting up scenes with the figures and whatnot. That is where I find the real fun. Outside of building that is.

(Goes back to finishing sorting out pieces from recent sets and storing them away.)

Enjoy! Lasting Toys had a table at Brickfete this year. They had a LEGO model of their store made up and on display at the show. When we were there yesterday, I ended up getting the midi-scale star destroyer, a small Indy set (Ambush in Cairo), a City set that my daughter picked out herself, a Ninjago Nya figure with spinner for my daughter, two issues of Brick Journal (Steampunk issue and the Indy issue) and the new Desert Skiff! Couldn't resist the Desert Skiff because it was the first time I've seen it in stores here in Canada and the owner of the store was in the process of putting them on the shelves. Let us know what you think of the store.

Will anyone be attending the Brickfair show in Chantilly, Va next weekend? I was just on their website and there are well over 1,000 people registered to attend. I've never been there, but I am thinking about making the trip.

I'm not going, but I am hearing that TLG will be revealing a new set there, which will likely be 10229, the Winter Village Cottage.

It's an easy three-hour drive for me. I'm really tempted to go. Still haven't decided yet.

For those interested in the Our World in LEGO project going on in London, here's some progress shots from the end of day 2.

And here's a close up of a group of tiles

It was really busy today, so many kids and adults helped out so we got through the entire lot of tiles for the day and even a few more for people who turned up desperate to join in after they'd all gone.

I'm really enjoying working on this project, it's lovely to see so many people happy from what we're doing.

Can't wait for tomorrow, I didn't even want to take my break today despite the tiring work and blistering heat.

Where are you precisely (can see the London eye but not sure of my bearings)? Thinking to come up to London tomorrow to see what Westfield Lego store has, and might mooch around a bit - would be coming into Waterloo probably so close by you I think. Would be fun to get my kids to do a tile

Edit: let us know how busy it is tomorrow - first working day during the Olympics. Was thinking to come up but I'll wait and see how bad things are. Want to come intowaterloo but also get to shepherds bush for the Lego store

Don't know if any of yous guys saw this, but TRU has a deal this week. If you buy LEGO Batman 2 for ANY video game hardware (including DS), you get a $19.99 (or less) LEGO construction set for free. I'm tempted. I've been dying to play a LEGO game on my PS3 for the fun and dem trophies, but I was leaning more towards LEGO Pirates because it's only $20, and I prefer the PotC theme to Batman. But this is tempting.

Decided if there is a theme I will ever try to complete I'll stick with Cuusoo. I have Minecraft and Hayabusa will be ordered in a few days to get free Hulk fig.

So, I've been Bricklinkin' a few sticker sheets for my flagship Technic sets, as I'd bungled a couple and all in all, I consider it money well spent. I think stickers can really bring a set to life, but I know not everyone holds that notion.

So, who here would actually prefer that stickers be done away with altogether? Who is the PUREST purist?!

Since getting back in to Lego I have bought about 50-60 sets and not one has a sticker applied. Those sets are mostly Star Wars, Technic and a few odd other ones here and there. For some reason I still keep the stickers though... and the boxes go in the bin which is also odd I guess.

I both love and hate stickers. I hate applying them, but they do add a lot to the sets they come with. The problem with them is that you cannot reuse them if you take them off. But you can at least take them off to use those bricks in other sets.

Wait so someone packed a tooth brush and pieces of plastic hangers into a Lego box? That's kinda funny if so. I mean, I see why it would suck if you were going to use the pieces today.

I bought a droid trifighter set hoping to get usefull pieces but I instead got toothbrush and coat hanger pieces, I am mad.

I don't know about you...but I don't think LEGO sounds like toothbrushes and coat hangers when you shake the box.

Sorry to hear that man.

absolutely love the dumpster especially with the bunny suit minifig lol

Thank you. The pic does not really show the handles on the side of the dumpster to move it. The dumpster is actually built sideways.

EDIT: Added my Neighborhood Cafe MOC to the Eurobricks MODULAR MADNESS! Contest.

I forgot to add the category to the thread title there, and cannot PM a mod. So hopefully something so trivial does not disqualify me.

Oh, god. Why did I look at the Winter Village sets? I have already decided that the Haunted House will be a new Halloween decoration staple here, but seeing the Winter Village series now makes me want them. I should jump on those last two ASAP before they skyrocket in price.

Took my son and we decided to pick up one of the new Star Wars sets, started with the Skiff.

It's actually a pretty cool little set. The 'wings' on the back have a nice range of motion, there's a little plank that slides out and it's got a little storage bench for the guns. And of course, nice minifigs, including Lando in disguise and Boba. :)

sorry for the cell phone quality

Yep, the Winter Village series is my seasonal decoration of choice. This year, I'm going to add the new set (10229) as well as my Emerald Night to the mix.

But then... take a look at this train (10173).

I will not get into the trains. I know they would take over my life, and be harder to display in an apartment.

But I might bite on winter village soon. The first set is expensive now, but not unreasonably so.

Emerald night and maersk are beautiful sets. And very easy to display on a shelf or bookcase as they are narrow :p
