I have a 3TB external hard drive that is currently in an NTFS format.

I need to be able to have it read between a Mac and Windows computer. What is the easiest way to reformat it to FAT32/whatever works between both?

From what I've looked up, it seems both will be unable to fully format the entirety of the space as one partition. Am I stuck with having it in multiple partitions? Is there some type of software I could use to read/write to an NTFS formatted drive from a Mac?

I dunno about buying it, but you can usually find a much larger photo of the image in question on a forum (or somewhere on the Yahoo News Photos site). But I guess it depends on the image.

exFAT works on Mac now, that supports 512tb
 
do you guys give money to beggars becasue I don't, and I find it to be quite aggravating having these people stare you down like your the one with the problem

one lady followed me to the order window of a fast food place, then tried to collect my change at the pick up window, and for some reason that shit pissed me off, am I alone?

Do any UK Gaffers know anything about Sky Go? My Granddad has Sky (and Sky Sports etc.) but not multiroom or Sky Broadband. Will I be able to watch Sky Sports online by signing in with his details? I'm assuming there's some sort of catch I've missed as it can't be that easy?

I have friends who use their parents sky account to watch sports/movies on the Xbox sky app. From what I remember you have to log into the sky website with the details and add the computer/xbox that you want to use it but after that its fine. There is a limit on how many devices can be registered though.

Just wondering..cause I record in 16:10 1920x1200. Prob try windowed @ 1280x720...but I think I need a bit more than what WMM can do.

Lightworks is an open source video editor that some say is comparable to Premiere, but it also only uses its own specific codec, which is a pain in the ass. Any video editor is going to have a learning curve, especially if you are teaching yourself, so prepare for that. I would recommend VirtualDub as anything more than a source converter and for clipping bigger video files into more usable clips.

Really there aren't a lot of free options if you want something that is top quality. Lightworks is your best bet, but good luck, and be prepared to do a lot of reading up on it.

That's what I thought, but my Granddad seemed convinced that as he didn't have Multiroom or Broadband we wouldn't be able to stream sports channels. Everything I've read online backs up what he says except for this one line on Wikipedia:

In order to have access to the full selection of live TV channels available on Sky Go, users will need either a Sky Multiroom or Sky Broadband Unlimited subscription, on top of the required TV packages that correspond to the available channels.

It doesn't explain it well at all. My Granddad's pretty technophobic so the idea of giving his details to me is pretty scary to him, bless 'im. So I need to make completely sure it would all work before asking him again to use his details.

Anyone on Gaf use Sky Go for Sky Sports without paying for Multiroom/Sky Broadband?

Is it a good time to get an ipad? I figured it is about time to get an Apple device in my line up. The prices over here got a bit cheaper (but equalivant to what it costs in USA).
 
Actually, I could still use some help with downloading the videos off of 3dbuzz.com. Turns out the youtube videos are in such a low resolution that it's hard to see the code... The site uses JW Player 5.1 but I can't find a good FF plugin to download them with.

DownloadHelper. You might have to press play on a video before being able to DL it. You get the DL option when you rightclick somewhere on the site.

It doesn't recognize that the site has a video player or a video playing. It works fine on other sites and on other videos on 3dbuzz, just not this set of C++ videos (just my luck :lol).

Weirdness. DownloadHelper has been the most reliable grabber for me so far. You could check whether there's an RSS that carries video URLs. No idea otherwise.

They're using RTMPE, so to my knowledge, there's no trivial way to dump the video data, or even get at it, without using their flash player. All that's left is basically screen-recording, or doing a proper hack of the site. I think there are enough CPP intro video lectures out there as it is, so I don't see a reason to dive into this one.

Are there any countries that allow foreigners to visit and get a work permit/visa without having to have tons of requirements? Like if someone wants to travel to various countries and working his way through that, you can't really do that legally since so many countries require 2 years of this, 3 years of that and so on. Are there any countries that aren't so strict about it?
 
Ok i'm looking to get a dual monitor set-up for my PC. Could anyone recommend a good HD monitor or a good deal? (UK based) also is there any associated problems with sketching on a widescreen? Will my drawings look skewed to others

Hi GAF, this is crazy vague, I imagine no one will know what I mean, which is fine, but I should try. All day today, every time I've been free of distractions, my mind has fixated on a scene from a film, or a TV show, I can't picture who's talking, or who to, I can't remember the context, or anything. All I remember is he is making a desperate apology. "It's not your/his/her fault, it's my fault, my fault", he's saying it as if half crying, half condescending as if to a child.

If you can grant me freedom from this doom, I thank you GAF.

The next Apple press conference is rumored to be on Sept. 12, where there might be a new ipad "mini" so I suggest waiting until then just in case the new mini appeals to you.

You make GIFs with Gimp or Photoshop, or sometimes with sites that make YT videos into GIFs. You host them on an image site like imgur.com, which let you upload GIFs to then give you a link you can paste on here inside an IMG tag.
 
So earlier today my doctor prescribed me Alprazolam (the generic Xanax) to help with my anxiety for an upcoming flight. He instructed me to take one pill about 30 mins to an hour before each flight and to also take the first .25 MG tablet tonight which I did a few hours ago... to no effect. I've been feeling nervous, anxious, and panicky non-stop :(

I've never used anti-anxiety medication before, so does anyone else know if it's unwise to up the dosage? If it's okay, then how many and how often can I safely take them? I'm really worried that these will fail me in my hour of need!
 
Probably a stupid question but how do I charge my Xbox 360 controller with a Play & Charge kit?

I have plugged in the cable to the one USB port in the 360 and turned on the console, then connect the other end of the cable to the controller. But it doesn't light up orange to indicate it's not fully charged.

Try removing and re-attaching the battery, start the controller, plug the kit to the controller.

Also, i think it only has red and green light, not orange. Not that this matters.
 
Are Apple devices (specifically iPad) region locked? Cause I moved and have been living in Taiwan but would like to access the NA market (purchase apps etc). I have an address (legit one) and bank account there (born citizen here).


Or do I need to buy one in the states?

You really should ask your doctor; you don't want to make a habit of self-medication. But Xanax is a pretty safe drug in the short term, and if you really think you need to take one more just for the flight, that's not going to cause a problem.

Still, call your doctor today.
