Darksiders 2 new info! [one month away from release]

They say its 1% better than their 92% review of Darksdiers 1. :) We need to wait for some reliable western reviews [gametrailers, edge, giantbomb].

So if Vigil can keep that up they'll hit 100% before long ;) looks like by the time we get western reviews we'll be too busy playing the game to care lol.

Anyone here ever have issues with the origional darksiders on pc? I have never fully played through the origional, so I redownloaded it via steam and the game is running at 60 FPS, but when I pan the camera the best way I can describe it is it looks jerky?

I have turned on vsync, and that didn't help. Specs are below:

Intel core i7 2600k
8 GB pc 16000 RAM
Nvidia GTX 570
Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.

Same problem here as well :( I really hope Darksiders 2 does not suffer from this issue.

Too much hype right now... Must keep expectations in check.

LOL yeah don't get it too insane, as good as this will be don't expect it to be the second coming and get mad when a solid ass game doesnt meet a crazy expectation x.x/

But who knows this could be the DMC3/Bayonetta of action rpgs in terms of quality o.o/

All I am expecting is a game worthy of the darksiders name. Reviews don't even matter for me, actually they haven't influenced my gaming purchases since before 2000 when we had dial up.

The only review that made me buy a game was a video review on Kingdom Hearts II, I didn't knew the franchise before, never even heard of it, but I really like the gameplay footage shown in the review so I got it, played 16 hours nonstop, then I stopped and got KH I to understand what the hell was going on.

Seeing how ridiculous the wait for KH III is and the amount of spin-offs, I really regret that. So yeah, don't really care about reviews.

lol Yup same I have plenty of "low rated" games because I find them damn enjoyable. I already know darksiders 2 will blow part 1 away I'm just hoping for the mass public to realize what a good game this is. I want Darksiders 100 god damn it. Okay maybe not that many XD

On another note, anyone finish the soul harvest app? I've got about 400 souls to go and I"m just curious who else has been playing around with it.

Darksiders II more Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy then Dante's Inferno.

Does Death have any chest armor or is he destined to go shirtless through out his whole adventure?

Still shoulder armor though. So yeah no chest pieces. Obviously it gets in the way of his fluid movements or something :P

With all these previews we're getting, on top of the combat insight from tragic, my hype levels are through the roof. This could well be my GoTY.

Don't they have some sort special unique thing for giantbomb thats how you know..they'll automatically get good score from those guys - but this game does look wicked fun thats why i bought it already :)

Well the game is also freezing for me in the exact same area. I have verified my team integrity. This blows.

So just for those experiencing freezing or jerky frames even though you are getting 60 FPS try this. Move the darksiders install from your steam folder to your desktop and launch it. This amazingly worked for me after reading about it at the darksiders forum on steam. This makes no sense in the slightest but I am good with this.

About to playthrough Darksiders for the first time! :D I played enough to know I loved it its just my backlog is insane and I never came back to it. I have preordered the 2nd game based on the hype/previews/reviews.

I read someone's reply to me and they asked if there are any preorder deals for pc. There are. I don't know them all, but I went with preordering from THQ for the free season pass (which will be $20 I believe on its own) which gets you all the DLC being released for the game for free. It also comes with "Argul's Tomb DLC: Day 30 content pack with additional gameplay". Link below. I just hope THQ doesn't go out of bussiness and there is no DLC.

IGN is laughable, but gametrailers is almost 100% inline with my views on most games.

I used to respect GT reviews too, but recently they have made some very stupid claims, and their scores are inconsistent to what they say. Like, some games they can downplay the lack of story alot, but on games like Gears they don't even mention it. Some games gets called out for being unoriginal, but then CoD comes back and they don't even care.

I agree. They have made some bad claims in the past as well. I can't remember many off the top of my head, but their ignorance towards the PC platform has irked me before. That being said of all the sites I read reviews at gametrailers, and eurogamer are the ones I trust the most.

Just read it finally

Darksiders II manages to avoid the standard “room and battle, next room and puzzle, next room and battle” routine so common in games, and I felt like I was constantly working at something new....There are few action titles that can boast such an accomplishment.

Fortunately, combat only has to be as complex as you want it to be, meaning that any level of player can get through the game and enjoy it. Having such a curve that doesn’t overly punish or reward one play type could not have been easy to manage, but here it is. I feel bad for games like God of War and DMC now, since they will have to reach the new bar Vigil has managed to set. Darksiders might become the new go-to franchise for action and combat.

Yo damn that's mighty big words to say.

I really hope this game turns out to be good. Hopefully, releasing it before the holiday season to avoid steep competition will pay off.

These leaking bits are making me think about changing my mind about playing Sleeping Dogs first. I got the day off for both either way

I'm keeping my expectations in check, but I'm quite confident I will like this game.
After all, I'm not even asking much: as long as the game isn't worse than the first, I will enjoy it. Anything above that point is just luxury.

Yup same honestly, the first game was my game of the year in 2010 and really fed that old school game feeling I was missing for a long time. I love min/maxing stuff in most things I do where I can, well to the extent I pick a play style then make the most of it, so them adding all that customization stuff is like a literal wet dream for me x.x

I'm expecting the game to be at least 1.5x better than the first one, anything more than that for me is going to exceed my expectations.

I really hate the Darksiders II TV commercial. It's just an ugly mess of gray, brown, and neon green CGI destruction porn for 30 seconds.

Eh.

I'd really like to know how Joe Mad took THQ choice to go with a marketing style (boxart, trailers, the later covers) that has little to nothing to do with his style, his vision for the game, that's colourful and comics-like. Seems like a lack of faith in your own game from the producer to me.

Any comments from devs on that?

I'm glad I watched that, pretty good commercial, a tad fast/quick cuts though. More importantly, watching that led me to a video I didn't know existed. I was wondering when they were gonna do an unboxing of the CE and apparently they already did.. back on June 22nd... I don't know how the hell I missed that. I can't wait to fondle... erm display that mask.

Careful watching, shows some pages of the art book at the end.

Man that Preview is amazing! Some quotes I really liked.

...the addition of fast travel both inside and outside of dungeons means that you are never trapped or stuck, you can simply pop out and come back later.

I spent periods of 10-15 minutes just staring at stats and taking notes on weapons and armor to try and get the best outcome. And trust me, there is an inordinate amount to sort through.
For any fan of action-RPG’s, Darksiders II seems to be the most comprehensive and impressive entry. Ever.

Everything gels together smoothly, and you can input moves slightly ahead of Death just like you would in a fighting game.

Giantbomb..reviews...reliable.

Ok..I admit. I laughed.

Im not waiting for one single review, im waiting for all three of them to build [for me] reliable picture about the game.

For me, gametrailers usually hit all the points, edge is harsh, and giantbomb almost always aligns with my taste.

360 version in the video. (it shows the 360 buttons, so it could be the pc version with 360 controller. however, gamepro is a console only mag)

I just saw few seconds of it, and yeah. Tearing is really present.

Maybe its because of their recording equipment, but if they mention it in review... then... that's another story. Also, there is a small chance they are not playing final code, but I don't think that is the case.

Still debating whether to get this on PC or PS3. My only ´PC´ is my Macbook Pro Retina with GT650M. (Bootcamp with windows 7) Would the game still look substantially better? (played on TV with 360 controller)

I did play Darksiders 1 on PS3.

Yeah there is definitely some framerate and tearing problems in that video. And if the reviewer even mentions it then I guess it really does have it.

Glad I'm getting it on PC.
